Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)
Loakum By FAR, the upcoming Game of Thrones King’s Road was the Game of the Show! It plays like God of War Ragnarok! :) (> 3 Months ago)

The majority of the bitching has to do with gameplay. Because this is a videogame. And most of that has to do with multiplayer, because that's where most people are going to be spending most of their play time. The Call of Duty "influence" is pretty damn apparent in the multiplayer game, despite Frankie's best attempt at spin.
Over the course of my 90 minutes or so with Halo 4's campaign, I came around. These moments were joined by other moments, like a climb up a shaft on the Foward Unto Dawn as the ship is torn apart by Requiem's inexorable pull, but they didn't dominate, and they served to move things forward in a more dynamic way than a cutscene or first person segment would have. And they all looked pretty fantastic.
I know from past posts that you really don't like the progression stuff in MP, that's fair enough, but it looks like H4 is handling it better than say, BF3, where you have to unlock items/weapons that can give you a distinct advantage. I really like BF3 too, but at least in H4 everyone has access to all the weapons from the beginning. Probably AAs too. My guess it the unlocks will mostly be cosmetic, which is cool because it's fun for me to progess with new armours and stuff. Its a good way to progress without compromising balance and gameplay.
Weapon drops (ie from "killstreaks") can be taken by anyone, and can even be used strategically (baiting). Sounds fine with me. The only thing that comes close to control-less kills is that auto-turret, but I read it's near useless( at least the reviewer couldn't make effective use of it), or maybe its good for distraction/ flushing people out of cover.
I actually like AAs(except armor lock, which is thankfully gooooone!)- they make encounters more interesting/dynamic, and now that everyone can sprint, I may actually use more of them, lol...
Oooh, Profound, isn't it?

"Today we actually have everything unlocked. When the game comes out this November, you'll have to work to unlock new weapons, new armor abilities, new grenades, and new armor mods (perks)." - David Ellis, multiplayer designer.
You guessed wrong. Sounds worse than BF3. Sounds like just Call of Duty.
I'm not even going to touch on stuff like killstreaks which are just broken from conception.
It's also worth noting that nearly everyone who has played it has done so at a press event. A controlled event without access to most of the customization in the game. Like you said, time will tell.
"What COD did wrong was the automatic kills on top of getting stuff for smoking everyone. I didn't have a problem with rewarding good play, but I did with having unmanned turrets earning kills."
Which is apparently okay now that you realize it's in this game too ;D

I just don't believe this will be anything like COD. It sucks that you have to unlock weapons though.
As far as BF3, I also said "things" ie scopes, sights, attatchments, friggin' chaff and missiles. As for weapons, some people do better with different weapons. Regardless, it's a tough call to make. I do think progression can increase enjoyment in some ways, and can keep things mixed up, but it all will come down to execution. We won't know if 343 will fall into the good or bad category.
That said, there is a lot of Positive feedback from people on this one, and I think you are making it sound catastrophically negative. We'll know if they pulled it off soon( even if not soon enough for me)...
Oooh, Profound, isn't it?
Those impressions don't mean much to me. Post release impressions do. It reminds me of all of the people who defended SFxTekken's gem system, which wasn't even available at playtests.
fwiw I don't care if you even like these things.. that's entirely your call :)
WAY TO GO
Prepare To Drop!!
I'm saying it will come down to implementation as to whether it's a good thing or not. We haven't really SEEN anything on how that stuff will work in H4. You are seeing what you want to see (just like I am), but at least the people saying are positive about it. :)
Oooh, Profound, isn't it?
It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the game had just 2 such instances that are like the elevator sequence in an entire playthrough. More times than not, I think it will just be a more scripted section of gameplay like what we saw at E3, and that's good, because I think it will give them an opportunity to generally do more with the game's story without necessarily making the game longer, or without using very many more minutes of cutscenes. Give more story, or just their story, without necessarily having there be too many situations where the player isn't actually interacting with anything.

That looks scarier/creepier than anything in any of the previous Halo games... by far.
