mind you, flood limbs come off.

Isn't Halo already M rated? I think dismemberment and super gore would change Halos atmosphere. Maybe from a grenade if the shield is gone.

I don't know if Optimus mean it teh same way I do but there is nothing wrong with a little more heavy feedback, if not super gore at least more brutal stuff I don't know, we are not 12 year olds anymore.

I think O'Conner said it would be a bit more visceral, so I look forward to that. The hard part with visual feedback is that they have the energy shields- maybe once the shield is down, they could show the body reacting to the shots more visually- that would be cool. Oooh, how about a weapon that "pops" them inside their shields, and the blood is spattered against the inside of it, lol. That would be sweet. Of course, there will be new enemies, so there is potential there.
I'd also like to see injuries change the enemies animations. I hate when in some games you shoot a guy in the knee, and then then he does a "I'm shot in the knee" animation, then he goes right back to shooting at you like it never happened. Why bother if it doesn't change the guys behavior? Of course, that involves more AI routines...

Listening to these two as well, they arent bad, good actually.
Its just that the one I liked was the one that really clicked from the reveal trailers.

But ah well, I will get Tip of the Spear, the other has a nice intro but its not something I would listen to outside the music.
Thats what I am about, I need tracks from OSTs that I can listen outside of the music, something that clicks, some tracks are only good during gameplay. From my very long experience, so I am sure you can understand.

Yea, Reach had some really good stuff. It actually leads me to like the new halo 4 music even more than I already do. It just feels so damn appropriate for the chief's new adventure.
Yeah. We're not 12 anymore so we need gore and boobs to be entertained.. just like 12 year olds.
Let's not be silly now, Grift. Of course at our current age, the boobs obviously need to be bigger to entertain us now. Frankie also said these words. I'll be holding him to them "I will say everything is a little bit faster, a little bit more intense, and a little bit more visceral than a typical halo encounter, so some people would probably compare that to a halo 3 or halo 2, but these are really poor comparisons, I think people would have to get a controller in their hands and figure that out for themselves."

I hope this means that, while shielding and such is obviously still involved, the feeling of weapons hitting targets is enhanced, and the feeling of really taking out enemies is made to feel far more rewarding. That's the one thing Halo is missing compared to certain other shooters. It just doesn't feel as fun to kill something. In Mass Effect, for example, every single kill feels crazy rewarding. The visual feedback that we get, the audio feedback that we get, it just feels damn good.

Maybe it isn't so much the visual, but when you are hitting something in mass effect, you really feel it. Perhaps it's just a simple matter of how they handle the sound to give the player the proper degree of satisfaction, but I guess we'll see.

Too lazy to bring all of it here.
What do the media mean when they say "perks?" –Krevilz

Well, I think they’re talking about performance-enhancing abilities from Call of Duty, if we’re going to be perfectly honest. I should clarify that we never used the terms “perks,” other than when asked about them. That was a term coined in questions about our admittedly mysterious content.

The systems in Halo 4, and I say that in the plural because there is no single element that defines that aspect of our game, are interconnected and related directly to your in-game experience as a Spartan IV, but they’re not exactly like any specific existing template or scheme. We’ll be explaining more about the Campaign and Multiplayer systems as the year progresses, but suffice it to say that the new features we’re hinting at for Halo 4 will not be mirror images of the stuff they’re being compared to now in online conversations.

Can you elaborate a little more on the armor customization and how it affects gameplay? I'm expecting a vague answer, but anything new on the subject (even a little sliver) would be extremely appreciated. –ZippingFilly812

You will have a wide degree of control over your appearance, of course, but as we have hinted, there will also be elements of your ability and performance as a Spartan IV that you will have some control over, that will actually impact your gameplay experience, although it should be noted this will not allow players to arrive in a game session with what are traditionally called “power weapons” or a massively asymmetrical advantage over opponents. Now, there’s a lot of speculation about how this will affect balance – and when we have more details to share, that experience will start to come into focus, but our philosophy is still to provide a balanced and enjoyable game for all types of players, regardless of skill or experience.

I want more singleplayer pictures and videos. And I was very pleased to hear that campaign is playable from beginning to end already. But then that was sorta common sense at this point in development, but it's still nice to hear. The graphics clearly won't look as amazing as the SP shots and vids suggest (no way), but at least it at least looks significantly better than Reach, as these videos seem to be suggesting that it does.

I wonder about one thing. 343i confirmed that the Covenant will reappear in Halo 4, but also that the player will have "bigger threats to worry about". They also said that the Covenant would be radically revamped. Also, Greg Bear's Forerunner novels point out that the Flood is going to play crucial role going forward story wise.

It's hard to believe that they could possibly include new type of faction (Forerunners) with new set of classes, AI behaviors, revamp the Covenant (with their Grunts, Elites, Brutes, Jackals, Sentinels, Hunters etc.) and include Flood, which would also need to be updated and revamped from Halo 3 because people never liked it in the first Halo trilogy. OK, maybe they'll leave Flood for Halo5/6, but it still sounds like a tremendous amount of work. FPS games from mid 90s could have 50 types of enemies, but they had simplistic AI and attack patterns. Most modern FPSes left the simplistic AI but greatly reduced number of enemy types (see Half-Life series or Call of Duty), with the opponents pretty much only being able to charge straight at the player. The Covenant ecosystem in Reach puts all other FPS games to shame (I don't think it's an exaggeration or hyperbole to say so, it's simply a fact), so reworking (=improving) it and adding Forerunners is a HUGE HUGE task. Combat against Forerunners making up supposedly majority of the game would require that they are at least as varied and fun to fight against as Covenant in the series ever was.

I hope 343i live up to the challenge.

i don't think think forerunners will show up in 4, i think they will be the cliff hanger ending (not to cliff hanger though...) this one will be about there technology and bring the none reader up to date on lore of the forerunners

The bigger problem they commented on? the world itself? if its set on a ark then there will be lost of weird shit on there (zoo)
flood based forerunners? larger meaner and more intelligence ?
the planet/ark/dyson sphere what ever you want to call it, did not look 100% in the halo 3 ending, could the sentinels be running repairs and the planet itself will be continually shifting (forerunner saga book 2, halo repairs) giving a uncharted approach to shifting levels?

Forerunners aren't directly confirmed but they're so heavily hinted as the main threat in Halo 4 both by the expanded fiction and by 343i employees that we can assume (at least I do lol) that they are going to be there in the game. I sort of expect Didact to be the main villain in Halo 4, that he somehow survived the forerunner-flood war and is sleeping in cryochamber or something.

About the music, it sounds different from marty's halo work. As much as i love marty's music from the halo games it could be interesting with a different take on it. I wonder who will compose the score. The Halo Wars soundtrack by Stephen Rippy does have some brilliant moments like these:

That music is terrible. It's not even in the league below Marty ... and it doesn't sound like Halo at all ... more like a medieval RPG - not amused

Edit: But I have to admit I am hyper-critical with OST's. I breathe John Barry all day :D

I am not. Big enemies in shooters are not a good idea in general, they have to have limited attacking abilities (some obvious patterns) and the strategy against them is "shoot weak point for massive damage" (or they're just shameful bulletsponges).

Some of the halo soundtracks have songs that do not resemble the game franchise either, lets just see how the songs work with the game before judging them and the new guy :)
