Oh my good Lord! The game is looking all kinds of awesome! The graphics and combat look MUCH improved, a lot more than i previously thought. I couldn't stop laughing when he pushed that guy out of the window, I hope there loads of choices like that :D

With the ME1 ship trashed I'm hoping that we don't get another Frigate Class like the Normandy, but instead get the larger Destroyer Class like those we saw in the Citadel Battles and mentioned in the Mass Effect Book- Revelation.

Especially considering that your team has gone from six to twelve.

The Normandy was THE most advanced and expensive ship in the ENTIRE human fleet.

Also, the Normandy is much bigger than it was in the first game.

I'm also digging the new hurdle animation that Sheperd has while in combat. I didn't notice the climbing up onto things until the very last level of the first game, but it seems now they've made it a more permanent aspect of the gameplay this time around. Sheperd is hopping over a number of things in the shootout vids I saw.

One thing I don't like is the AI. It's funny/sad because the guys are saying how awesome the AI is, yet they just walk straight to you in the open while being shot in their face.

Seriously, for something they mentioned at least three times during the video, it worries me because it tells me these guys don't see certain things that stick like a sore thumb to me.

I dont know in some of the combat vids i have seen the rebels take very effective cover, its the robots that just seem to walk into the gunfire?

Well, sometimes enemies getting aggressive like they were doing can be very troublesome as opposed to always keeping their distance.

Also the robots seem to value their lives much less than the humans do as they were the ones being careless.

Some very cool reveals in this latest Mass Effect article.

Med packs have been done away with entirely for Mass Effect 2. Rather than having to heal yourself and your party members constantly, an auto-regeneration system has been put into place. Take cover for a few seconds and your health will go back to full. With death disabled and Shepard overloaded with awesome weapons, I wasn't able to tell just how much this new system will affect the difficulty. What it should do, though, is streamline the battles and ensure you spend less time micromanaging and more time kicking ass.

I'm VERY happy they got rid of the med packs and gave us something more streamlined like auto-regeneration. This is also a very strong sign of how serious things may end up getting in this game that they did away with med packs and gave us something more useful like auto-regen.

Left and right are each assigned to one squad member. Tap left and you can tell a single ally to move forward or use a power on the foe you're targeting. Tap right and you'll direct the other. This gives you access to your main mapped power as well as two of your allies at any moment.

The Right Bumper is where you go for calling up the power wheel. Hold it down and you can adjust yours or choose a specific command you want an ally to use. Tap it and you'll automatically use whatever you have mapped. In this demo we were playing a soldier character, so the only powers available were centered around boosting your weapons power. For Mass Effect 2, you won't be equipping weapons with different types of ammo. Instead, you can get powers that will infuse an entire clip with a boost. It recharges pretty quickly, so it wouldn't be out of the question to infuse your bullets with different types of boosts non-stop.

I'm VERY happy with they've chosen to deal with bullet upgrades for your weapons. That right there is major improvement for me and I like that they made it quickly rechargeable. Most of the time in Mass Effect 1 I couldn't be bothered to go switching to the right kinds of bullets for the right kinds of enemies because it was a tedious task. This way you are able to be far more strategic with your bullet choices. God I love the improvements they are making to this game :D

They also appear to have done away with the overheat system and gave you actual bullets this time around. I thought the unlimited bullet concept worked for the first game, but with the addition of heavy weapons and many other weapon types it probably makes sense to give the player bullets now. Or maybe the overheat system is still there for some weapons but not there for weapons that can be seriously abused like the rocket launcher? I also like that getting so many rockets will be a rare thing. Wouldn't want that breaking the game.

As a matter of fact, I may really be wrong about the doing away of overheating. Limits may only be placed on the heavy weapons.

Ahhhh from watching the uploaded Mass Effect 2 gameplay vid on this site, watched it like twice, it appears that they've given each gun a bullet capacity. So when you've fired a certain number of shots, it instantly overheats which causes the symbol for the equipped weapon to change red signifying it's time for a reload, at which point Sheperd hits something on the weapon, something gets ejected and the gun is ready to fire again immediately.

Perhaps different weapons may have different reload times before they are ready to be fired again.

Mass Effect is beating all my expectations. I honestly never expected they'd go this far with the improvements to this game. I expected more of the same with the obvious suspects being fixed, but wasn't expecting this. Mass Effect 2 is going blow minds when it gets released :D

The changes sound great. They really have put some thought behind it, and there might be a reason to play as a soldier at last (I think it's boring in ME1).

I'm extremely tempted to play as a Soldier with how amazing it looks, but if soldier looks this greatly improved, I assume the same must also be true for Vanguard :D

While speaking to BioWare's leaders slash doctors, Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka, Joystiq managed to confirm that the second batch of DLC for Mass Effect (that's the first game!) would be announced and detailed soon. According to Muzyka, he was even playing it at the BioWare office slash fortress before departing for E3 2009.

I love the Soldier Class because it frees you up to be THE GUN in the game. I usually only pick Tali and Liara when playing the Soldier, and I max out weapons, Spectre and Commando skills sets. By the middle of the game most enemies are dropping after only a few shots.

It requires that you fashion your party member's skills around you. Tali/Kaiden will do the Decryption-Tech, Liara/Wrex can do the Biotics.

When I play the Soldier Class I find that I don't need Garrus for much of anything.

One thing that I would like to see is the License purchasing system improved. I'd like the ability to REQUEST armor from the quarter master or the shop keepers after I get a license instead of flying back and forth and then being disappointed with the pathetic armors in stock.

All of the best armors were rare and at random. And MOST were only for Wrex.

Why should I care if I have strong relationships in the game?
Without the party member’s loyalty, success is less likely. You need to develop a strong and loyal squad in order to be able to succeed. They can leave your party or be killed. With the loss of a team member the player will also lose unique skill sets storyline, and subplots

I strongly suspected that if you didn't carefuly manage your relationships with characters in this game that it could end up leading to your downfall at some later point in this game.

Perhaps you'd get betrayed, perhaps someone wouldn't feel any desire to actually help you in combat. Perhaps someone wouldn't feel the need to risk their lives to aide you through something only they can accomplish in another part of a structure. Maybe you'll need someone to issue a distress call for you, but if you didn't treat that person right the distress call will never be sent out and after having accomplished your mission, sheperd is simply left for dead.

That's what I'm thinking as well.

He had a pistol it seems, but I highly doubt he is an adept. I would think he isn't a soldier type, but.. it would make sense that an Assassin is good with a Sniper Rifle.

Or maybe I'm thinking about it in entirely the wrong way. Garrus was a turian agent and Wrex was a Krogan Battlemaster so Thane will obviously have the abilities that would be expected of a skilled assassin. He's probably good with tech and electronics. He's most likely also skilled with all types of weapons, including Assault rifles. I wonder if this time around each species has some abilities that only they can use? Whenever I see how amazing this thing looks it pops back into my head that it's a 2010 title. Wow :D

You ever suspect Bioware will attempt to expand teams to 4 before the 2010 release date?

Let's see... Thane.. that amazing looking Geth.. it's going to be so tough deciding who to keep in team. I want Wrex back, I definitely trust him with Sheperd's life. I trust Ashley as well, but I get the feeling that something involving keeping her safe may end up leading to Sheperd's death.
