The gore seemed a bit excessive imo. I mean, I love some gore, but it seemed a bit comical and out of place
...especially considering how serious Tim Burton's movies tend to be, right? :P

The gore isn't just seeming excessive, it is excessive and honestly, most of the movie carried a bit of that comical luster throughout.

I couldn't find flaw with anything that was done in that movie.

One of my favorite parts was when they both start singing in the kitchen, about how different classes of people will taste!
That had me rolling!

Also the oven scene at the end rules and looked so freaky. There is probably some serious psychological shite going on with Burton to do that to his own irl wife

Iron Man ruled
Yea I like the ending, that was unexpected, though as she lied Todd took revenge on her. Then, the little boy took revenge on him for killing both the woman (I'm forgotting names) and his master.

edit ; it's Lucy and Tobby.

It's a Tim Burton musical about a killer barber... dark subject matter doesn't equal serious.

So dealing with death, injustice, slavery and poverty among other subjects isn't serious? People are dying, yes there are a couple of more relax moments and even funny ones, but it's still is serious business.

It's not serious in the same way Schindler's List or a real drama is though, nor is it serious to the point of the blood being out of place....especially, once again, for a Tim Burton flick.

Serious topics doesn't make a serious movie. South Park has covered all of those topics extensively, but it's far from serious.

I would say for the tone of what the movie had (however serious), the blood was out of character for me (mainly when the rival barber gets killed). Perhaps that is a more fitting description

Ok, fair enough. I would've been like "wtf?" had there not been blood like that. Different strokes...blah blah...:P

I really didn't like any of the songs in Sweeney Todd, and as a matter of fact, I don't really like most musicals' songs. I find that they tend to be a bit too random in their melodies and lyrics with really awkward cadences.

The style and imagery were fantastic though, and I always enjoy a good revenge flick.

EDIT: I should clarify that I enjoyed the music, just not the singing.

What exactly was funny about it? There were a few times where I let out little giggles of glee, but I didn't find it particularly funny.

Well I don't think it'll beat some gore movies I saw...

Example : Riki-oh http://youtube.com/watch?v=8vMKN1tYknE (whole movie = incredible)

And that's just ONE example

The thing is, the setting and tone is Rambo is probably more serious than it should have been making the gore..well..gorier than what you'd get in an outlandish horror/torture porn/kung-fu movie. That's just my opinion though.

Iron Man. Great comic book-to-film adaptation. Up there with Spiderman 1/2, Batman Begins, and the X-men 1/2. I am glad to see Hollywood is taking the genre seriously with solid scripts and good actors.

I don't watch many movies these days, but Caspian is next up when I get a chance.
