Chronicles is a guilty pleasure at best. It's pretty shitty. I still like it, but, it's pretty shitty. Pitch Black is 100% more awesome, so just don't expect it to be as good as the original, and you might be able to enjoy it.

Also, play the videogame. It's fucking great.
Well, you were right.

It was good, but too goddam long.
If not for Vin Diesel, it would be another StarGate.

It's not shitty though. I don't know where you get that.

I just watched the funniest goddamn thing. I just had to bump this thread to give you guys a heads up on this. I don't know if it's me being slow or if this is one of those hilarious thing that just goes unnoticed but whatever (and it's not really a movie either). It's "Garth Marenghi's Darkplace". It's a parody on horror/sci-fi/drama series from the early/mid 80s and it's just freaking great. I've watched three of the six episodes and well...worth every penny :D Check it out.

The cutting was a bit hectic and i don't think there was a single scene without something blowing up, but it was a very entertaining :D

I missed it in the cinema. Is it worthy of a blu-ray purchase?

Beagle: Honestly, no. I don't think it's worth buying it. Renting would be a better option. Unless maybe you are a HUGE fan or something.

No, not at all. I thought Casino Royale was pretty cool, but on a second viewing, I was bored. When I first got my PS3 I would only buy blu-rays of movies which looked good. It would be stuff like Pixar, or something with awesome special effects like Transformers. I've kinda gotten over that and will probably buy all my movies on blu-ray now that I have a 1080p TV. I will probably end up renting Quantum.

Watched Taken the other day. Not sure what to make of it. Some parts were hilariously bad, others were sort of exciting. Worth a watch i guess :)

I took note of that almost immediately. It's like the polar opposite of Casino Royal in some ways. It almost felt like they were trying to make up for lost time. I did enjoy it quite a bit though.. and that Olga Kurylenko.. striking. It makes me want to watch Hitman ;)

It's got nothing on Casino Royale, in my opinion. The action is pretty darn cool, but the plot is just terrible and Daniel Craig isn't given much to work with. That's a complete contrast to Casino Royale, which has a fairly decent storyline and a fairly great performance from Daniel Craig.

I thought it was.. fine. At least I wasn't berated with Sony product placement in this film. Sure, there are aspects of Casino Royal I enjoyed more... but this was a good Bond flick for sure. I thought it was interesting that they actually made it a direct sequel to Casino Royal, tying the plots directly together. Most other Bond films stand on their own, and there's no serial connection between them apart from a few common characters.

I view it as just an add on to Casino Royale, not a separate movie at all. Makes more sense that way and makes it a much better movie imo.
For a movie that was hindered by a writers strike it's pretty amazing

Yeah, I agree with both of you there; it was refreshing to have a Bond film that was actually a direct sequel from its predecessor, rather than being yet another stand alone film.

I just watched WALL-E for the first time - got it on DVD for Christmas.

Man, that is a powerful and genius film. It's arguably my favourite Pixar film, rivalling Toy Story.

Such charm and emotion.

Man, I've been trying HARD to find Wall-E on bluray now for like a week and a half, and the closest I've come is one unaccounted for copy in an HMV. Nobody else has it at all.

That's kinda weird. It's easily available where I'm from. It's fucking incredible in 1080p. I just don't really like that it's in 2.39:1. Those black bars are annoying.

I love it as well.
And considering 65 percent of the movie is without a single dialogue. That's an achievement....
