Well that kind of makes your advice a bit nonsensical.
You just have to be willing to make the effort to avoid the crap.
Watching a ton of crap in order to find something decent doesn't seem like a good way to.... avoid the crap. I get what you're saying though... that after a while, you'll know what to avoid/watch, but considering how much of it is offputting to people like myself and Doomsong(I assume), it really doesn't seem worth it.

Watched Primer yesterday. My brain feels like an unsolved Rubix cube. I'm definitely going to have to watch it again to figure out exactly what the hell is going on.

I did like it though, especially the dialogue.

Yeah but you do trial and error in everything you like. Videogames, books, movies, all of it. You start out and gradually your taste refines itself and you really know what you like eventually. It's not like anime is any different than any other interest you may have. You just have to be willing to START, that's all.
You had to be willing to play shit games at first to find out what games were really good when you're small. Etc etc

I never do that. When I don't like it I don't watch it. There are rare occasions when I can enjoy a crap/ridiculous film with friends, it works the same with games.

Ah,you are wise, how do you know if a movie is bad if you avoid to see "suposed" bad movies?

People should watch at laest some semibads/bads movies in order to appreciate the really great ones.

I watched Primer today. Awesome movie, but pretty complicated.

It's the first movie I watched where I had to go online during the movie to find out what exactly was going on, lol...

hehe, yeah after my second viewing I decided to do a little reading. Glad I did :)

There's a nice diagram on their wikipedia page which explains how their time travel works.

Ah, I couldn't remember how I found this movie, but now I realise you mentioned it in this topic! :)

Yeah, I still haven't entirely wrapped my head around it, but almost...I think. I've been reading up on it and other people's views, also had a look at the wiki diagram which definitely helped to visualise the whole concept.

Again, awesome film...very unique.

Also, I watched 'Taken' and I've rarely been so filled with adrenaline while watching a movie. It got pretty mediocre reviews, but I think it's fucking awesome!

Epic! Is that talked about in the DVD's or did someone just happen upon it and upload?

It's not that disturbing. The kid is just signalling to the director that he's gotta take a piss.
