I'm just taking a bit of break to bitch about how GOD DAMN CHEAP THE RED NINJAS ARE!!!!!
Those red ninjas and rocketlauncher soldiers are my archenemy in this game, its just cheap to throw 2 incendiary shurikens at once.

Those wizards are not cheap but cowards.
They keep teleporting and grabbing you, or do that flame thing from the ground.

I can handle the wizards but those red ninjas is what pisses me off, I can't attack anyone unless I know they are not close to me.
They will either grab me or throw shurikens...*sigh*

Good game :P

They just throw SO many shurikens. Plus, they can stick you while doing an Izuna drop or an ultimate technique. To avoid taking damage once stuck you have to block, but then that's just an invitation to being grabbed...or getting stuck in the back.

That is what I have been saying since day one when I faced this bastards.
Not only that but can move their feet very fast, extremely fats which gives them the advantage to surround you and throw from the back.

I hate those mechas too, those monsters in mecha outfits, wow are they hard to take down.
They are not cheap, but once they come in 2-3, wow.

There is this Chapter were you are trying to get to Zedonius, that snow level, in the beginning, they throw in those mechas with those soldiers with multiple rocketlauncher.

Be aware that I am right now playing on Acolyte AKA EASY!

How the hell is a new comer to NG gonna feel safe playing this game on easy, its ridiculous, no wonder why it doesn't sell so many copies.

I haven't noticed any difference that much from Warrior to Acolyte, the bosses still cheap around, not only that but the places were you thought that these type of enemies wouldnt appear, wrong, they stilll do...hence the mechas+multi rocketlauncher soldiers.

Does it still work that you would dodge at the right time when incendiary shuriken explodes? In NGB you didn't take damage on those then.

Hey Sath maybe acolyte is normal difficulty now and warrior is hard. Then mentor is very hard and... They probably just dropped the easiest difficulty out from the game.

Yes to question one, because I have done MANY times, works.
Thank you Evil Ryu for teaching so hard :D

Maybe on the second comment.
That is what I am keep thinking. Sometimes the enemies are rough as hell on Acolyte and sometimes its decent.

im nearing the end of this game and i gotta say its alot more frustrating and annoying than it is fun. Im on the "normal" difficulty and its like 50% of this game is based on skill and the other 50% is just chance. cause about half of the enemies (especially bosses) attacks are just plain unavoidable, its so ridiculous. And the camera is even worse than in the first game, which adds to the frustration...wow. i just wanna break the game in half, im so disappointed with this game.

A lot of people have said the same about NGB. That it's just about chance, but it really isn't. There are still some very skilled players out there who can get through the game without much problems (even on path of the mentor) and a large majority has huge problems even on normal.

The reason why a lot of people think it's luck based is because they don't know how to avoid getting hit. It's the lack of knowledge about the game that determines whenever you're good at it or not. I'm not very good at the game, but I noticed that when I played with my friend (who also played NGB numerous times). He died against Genshin numerous times and kept getting grabbed over and over again unable to avoid his attacks. I then tried to beat him for the first time and didn't have any problems at all, on the second run through it was even less of a problem.

I just finished Acolyte...so Acolyte and Warrior is complete.
Now I will probably play more Acolyte to keep mastering those damn bosses before I go for mentor

Hey Sath, you were complaining about Wolves being a pain, I don't think so (on Acolyte anyways). In fact, they are one of the most reasonable enemies in the whole game.

Basically they are VERY predictable, you can always charge up your attack, usually to the second level and when they jump at you, just let go and let the fun start, repeat, kick ass, that's it. They do quite a bit of damage, but they are usually very easy to predict and really easy to prevent getting hit by them.

Now I hate those flying skeletons or whatever they are with their boobs popping out somehow. Now these f**** are really hard to predict, and you can barely tell on damage you are doing to them or when they are ready to be finished. They also have no mercy.

Anyways, I'm on the airship level and I met the rocket launchers for the first time, I have to say that they are not too hard either. You just have to know your priorities. You have 6 guys attacking, and 4 of them are regular ninjas and 2 of them rocket launchers, who are you going to attack first? Obviously you go for the rocket launchers. And usually, zig-zagging all over the place won't get you hit by rockets.

Anyways again, I'm having lots of fun. I haven't gotten any truly annoying enemies or bosses. Aside from the electric flying caterpillar/seaman (lol), every other boss I've beat in the first try. Kickass game and a solid 8.5 so far from me, and mostly because of technical deficiencies and camera problems, but the gameplay in this game is just unmatched.

Lebato, the wolves are easy sometimes, but someitmes they just are annoys me.

The rocketlauncher soldiers will get more tough when you are in the snow level.

The truly annoying enemies are the fiends...red ninjas are turned into fiends so they count :P

But yeah I am having a blast with a few "omg nooo" situations now and then...but other than that great game.

I have completed Acolyte and Warrior so I still give it a 8.5.

Right now I am gonna go with Mentor and its a bit difficault right now, soldiers and they come with rocketlaunchers on chapter 1 and I haven't upgraded my DS yet :S

Oh btw LEBATO, Acolyte = Predictable ;).

1/3 of my health left, one Grain left. Volf. It took me a dozen tries, but I finally beat him without having to use it, and then saved it for the battle with his minions. My God. They throw so much meat. First time, I had full health, after 10 seconds of chopping off limbs, I'm killed by a ton of dead werewolf flesh flying at me at 30mph. So infuriating.

but see thats the thing, you have to figure out a cheap way to beat certain enemies and bosses. So you can only use certain moves and certain weapons in a exact, specific way to kill certain enemies. It seems almost intentional that they made it so frustrating.

yeah lol. but theres so many cool looking combos and attacks and you end up only using a few because most are ineffective and are just for looks. ex. I've upgraded all my weapons so far and still, always end up back using the first sword because its the fastest and strongest.

That reminds me of DOA4's last boss, who is relatively easy if you abuse ridiculous tactics and basically spam a single move over and over again. That's the hallmark of good AI, right? LOL.

BTW--it is intentional that they made it so frustrating--don't let people tell you otherwise. Team Ninja's approach to difficulty and AI has always been pretty stupid if you ask me, and I love Ninja Gaiden.

I bet you the developers suck at their own game, even.

I don't even block much in this game because it seems like every attack the enemies use will break your block or is unblockable. The only ones that I bother blocking are the spider clan ninjas. Other than that, it just seems like a waste of time. Just a lot of dashing to avoid attacks.

It just seems like I have to play the game in a cheap way to advance. In NGB I could pretty much play the style that I liked and still get through the game, in this one I'm constantly having to use techniques that I just don't find very fun. Like using the flying swallow constantly. And it seems like there are just way too many places and boss fights where you have to use the bow. Are they trying to make a shooter?

I was really liking it at first but now it is just becoming frustrating and it makes me wonder if it's because of the regenerative health. Because you go into a fight, take lots of damage, but when the fight is over, you're still doing okay. I would rather it was like NGB where you could block more attacks and the idea is more about not getting hit than it is trying to kill everything as fast as possible.

The game is still fun I guess, I just don't like some of the new directions it's gone in. People may think that it's more of the same but it actually ends up playing quite a bit different. I've actually been able to progress through the game(chapter 10) faster than NGB but I feel like I suck at it so much more than NGB because in a lot of fights I'm getting my ass kicked but because of regeneration and save points I just keep on truckin'.

My roommate just bought a 52" Aquos, and holy SHIT does Ninja Gaiden 2 look fantastic on it. Some of the levels are bland, but levels 9 and 10 are gorgeous and the enemies look great. The fight on the stairs before the Elizabet fight was awesome!

Yeah, graphically some levels look great. The only stages I found boring to look at is the New York Stage, snowy Russia stage, and the green cave. Disappointed how some of the textures can look so bland too, it's like they didn't even get to finish the game on time but released it anyway.
