Yeah, I know the thread you're talking about. The guy gave credit when he linked to the IGN boards where he found the pics. Anyway, I was trying to beat Mentor mode to take pics of the Jaguar costume, but I'm only on Chapter 5.

Damn, I'm on chapter 12 right now and so far is freaking amazing. Honestly, there is NO game out there that has gameplay like this. And if anyone complains on difficulty on Acolyte, stop crying! Up to chapter 12 there has been NOTHING unreasonable, I constantly find myself not being able to carry more items.

There was only one boss that truly pissed me off, and that was the thing in the green cave, simply because it's a crappy boss idea and you don't have much way to defend yourself or attach the thing, and since one of his attacks can take up half your health.

Now, how the hell do you get into tests of valor? I'm on chapter 12 and I haven't been to one yet. Basically, how do you activate the portals? Or are they not available in Acolyte?

Also, I wish you could play the game on higher difficulties with ALL your stats from the start. I heard you can only replay it that way on the SAME difficulty.

And do you know how high a combo can be? Well, it's 999. I threw that many shurikens at some enemies out of reach from attacking me, and yeah, it wouldn't go past 999. meh.

I just stood in the tunnel with my scythe while charging up my attack. When I saw or heard him coming, I'd unleash it in his face, get an attack or two in, then head into a cave out of the way.

You end up fighting a bunch of guys(ninjas, archers, those floating guys that throw fireballs) in a part of the Hayabusa village. Guys keep coming and coming, and when you kill them all, an altar lights up and you get it there. I had actually ran too far up the stairs to get rid of the archers, so I never ended up getting the rod on my current time through.

Only on warrior and up. I started out on acolyte again and the teleporters don't work. They look the same as in NGB, unmissable once you are allowed to do the test since they're glowing in white light.

huh? I just beat it on Acolyte and I did all the tests...You just have to pick up that small amulet/artifact thing in one of the first levels, i forgot where it is. But it activates all the portals.

i hate how they didnt use CGI cutscenes in this one like they did on the first game. Those were soo awesome to watch, but now they decided to a use slightly better looking style of the games crap gfx.

Ninja Gaiden 1 was so good...i dunno what happend.

DVD9 happened.

There's no way that amount of content would fit on the disc, along with the game, in high definition. I looove Team Ninja CG. The endings in DOA4 are great :)

yeh u get some good upgrades from those things. I couldnt find the portals in the last 2 or 3 levels tho, does anyone know if theres a portal for every level?

so far, this is my favorite game this gen.

it's a flawed masterpiece however, due to the lazy polish when compared to TN's past games.

there is also the lack of mission modes and chapter selection after beating the game but framerate is more important to me.

the game is only about 4 gigs, they could have done fmvs with no problem whatsoever, at least one but they didn't for some reason.

Even if the game is only 4 gigs, that still might not leave enough room for the sheer number of cinemas that Team Ninja wanted to use. NG1 had quite a few cutscenes, after all (I haven't played NG2 yet, it's on the short list). I suppose they could have included a couple of HD cut scenes but they probably were just trying to be consistent. That's my best guess anyhow. I bet if they had more elbow room (more than the 7.5 gigabytes alloted on an Xbox 360 disc) they would have considered using CG again.

But who knows.

The game looks great BTW. I look forward to getting pissed off at it.

It's pretty funny and sad how Hayabusa village looks almost identical to the Xbox version, just in HD.

EDIT: Grift, if consistency was the reason, we wouldn't have a green cave level. Also, in NG they had a very SMALL amount of CGI, I would say the total was....~14 minutes. AND they had a mix of engine cutscenes with CGI, so to the this mix doesn't matter.

They reason there is no CGI is only one, a crappy budget. This shows throughout the whole game. TN could have done a heck of a lot better in graphics, no huge framerate slowdowns, crappy environments, etc etc.

But don't let that confuse you, the game is incredibly awesome! It's like more NG (graphics included, lol--to a point) with some fixes and improvements to gameplay, and that is GREAT thing.

not really, most of NG1 fmvs were short, look at Lost Odyssey, disc 3 in particular, more than 10 short fmvs with even superior graphics and multiple languages.

Ah, I guess you're right. It's been a while, but if it was really just ~15 minutes, than 3.5 gigabytes should have been plenty sufficient. Cost and time are the only two possible explanations left. A shame, really, because all of the pre-rendered stuff they've done (or commissioned) has been really nice to look at.

Yeah, their cutscenes are top notch. I would also have liked a few of them. I think I will beat it today, but like NG, I expect to play it through at least a couple times more.

Yeah, it seems like Itagaki rushed it so he could quit since he was having problems with Tecmo. Shame really.

Anyway, the CG cutscenes were always interesting to watch in NG, even just to view the high quality renders. I found myself waching them over every now and then (same for the DOA games), but the scenes in NG2 are kind of boring and I don't really care to watch them over for some reason. There's just a more cinematic feel to the CG scenes, and Ryu just looked more badass.

I think he said it's good to have FMV for intros and endings, with everything else being realtime cutscenes. He didn't follow through with that idea in NG2 though. :p After seeing the CG for the teaser though, which I thought looked awful compared to the CG in NG1, I'm glad they kept all the scenes realtime, but it would have been nice to see NG1 quality CG.

perhaps realistic is not it, more like muted colors which i liked.

Got My replacement game FINALLY this morning and I have gone through chapter 4 and defeated Alexei first try on Warrior :D He was pretty damn easy and quite disappointing to be honest but oh well
