@reizo, I don't know how taking coding 101 might help but that was indeed ridiculous.

Sath is just taking it to extremes. The framerate is NG2 was nowhere near a joke, there was only one part (and wasn't there an update to fix this?) that the framerate would drop badly, but 95%+ of the game was smooth as butter.

And whatever the hell you mean with the PS3 having more room and how that has anything to do with framerate? I'd like a source for that one :D

The framerate issues was still disappointing coming from Team Ninja though. I experienced it throughout a few stages outside of the 100 ninja staircase section. The update fixed the enemies from following you wherever you went. Before they would keep following you until you reached an area where more enemies would appear, causing the framerate drops. For some reason though, I still notice framerate drops sometimes with only just 4-5 enemies on screen.

I really like how Itagaki said this is the definitive version of NG when he obviously knew the game was incomplete in terms of polish, balancing, and content. But then again, Itagaki says a lot of things.

Lebato - co-op was never a must for me in NG franchice, but I had fun imagining how it would be like. I don't care if the game doesn't have it, if I liked previous games why should I start hating it now.
I am happy because now I get to actually play with one of my best friends that doesn't live in the same country as me, which also is a huge NG fan and have been playing every NG fan up to date (except DS). So it would be fun to go co-op with him.
Having to NG pros going crazy, I actually don't think it is fair to the enemies, just this once ;)

The gameplay, meaning combat is the most awesome thing ever with NG2...the only problem I had was the design choice of the enemies and some levels.
IS spamming, explosive arrows, multiple rocketlaunchers with 3-4 soldiers in line, which triples the rockets, lack of invicible frames, water controls...etc. the enemies were sometimes placed in bad parts for you to make it impossible to crossover at times.
I liked the levels, but not how the enemies was placed, but that was extremely rare which was good.

Vspectra - From what I read, Itagaki said it wouldn't work so they didn't add it in, but Hayashi seems to make it work for NGS 2, thats what I read anyways.

Reizo - The framerate at some parts was bad...at SOME PARTS, doesn't take a scientist to know that. Some parts it slowed down a bit and went to normal, but some sother parts really slowed it down that it felt like slow motion gameplay was hidden there.
And what do you mean with "any credibility left"? You don't even know me enough to even say that, and stop bad mouthing over internet "before saying anymore nonsense". I won't even bother with you.

Isn't it true that blu-ray has more space to make it able to have more stuff on it? I don't know, I am not a techy, but isn't that what it does? More content, more stuff on screen...etc.

I THOUGHT that if Blu-Ray has more space and they can add more stuff on screen the framerate wouldn't struggle with it, that is what I thought, maybe I am wrong.

Another thing I would like to say that don't listen to what people say about the game not having decapitations and OTs, they don't know what they are talking about...it is there.

In the co-op scene with Ayane and Ryu, Ryu has a scythe make sure you notice one of the OT moves with it.
He stabs the blade of the scythe to one of the enemies head and swing it around and pound it to the ground.
This was done on of those white/purple robots which also was in NG2.

Here is the trailer in "HD" from GT http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47115.html

I took some gifs of two decapitations and one OT from the trailer, just to proof I am not shitting.
I have watched the trailer so much and analyzed it alot, yes I am that of a hardcore fan.

When I actually see it in motion, I prefer the more "realistic" amount of blood than a bloodbank (although adding a tiny bit more wouldn't hurt), and seeing the essence in motion when you decapitate someone looks great.
I really want to see True Dragon Sword with fully charged Ultimate Technique in motion with the essence effect, would look cool.

Anyway, here they are

PS. I took the liberty to slow down the parts where they actually cuts the limbs off, and as you see the essence shows up.

I'm no techy either, but I would have thought that a bottleneck causing slow-down would have occurred elsewhere, not at the level of accessing the dvd/blu-ray. Were that the case, wouldn't the 360 still have the edge speed-wise? Access times for dvds are much faster than blu-rays, are they not?

I dont think it has anything to do with DVD or BLURAY. Arent framerate drops associated with too much stuff being done beyond the capacity of the CPU ?

I am no expert either. Access times for dvds & bluray, I believe, are what causes long loading times.

Larger disc space just means you can fit more content onto the disc. It has nothing to do with actually coding and optimizing the game. Bluray didn't help RE5's framerate on the ps3 versions did it? Supposedly the 360v runs smoother.

Actually the size of blu-ray can work against a game because the data is harder to find, thats why many PS3 games have duplicate textures so there is less search time add to that the PS3 has less avaliable video memory, I can't see it running better than NG2 somehow.

They have had quite a while to get this optimized though so there is that I suppose, although they could have just toned the detail and models down a bit.

..lack of invicible frames...
Like I said in my previous post, the dash makes you invincible, but only at the start, if you keep playing like you played sigma/black it obviously won't work out as well, rockets are easily dodgable like this, even if you don't want to risk dodging an IS, just block and dash right after it explodes, this will minimize damage, and put you out of harms way, also you cant be canceled out of charging an UT with normal attacks, which can be pretty overpowered at times

Well as you can see, I've been around for 2 years, just because I don't post a lot, doesn't mean I don't read ;). But anyway I wasn't talking about the slowdowns so much, because they are there, most noticable at the stairs and on harder difficulties with lots more explosions.
I was talking about the part you replied LEBATO instead.

Disc size has NOTHING to do with anything related to framerate or assets on screen. What you basically said is if Crysis was on a blu-ray instead of a dvd it would run better instead ;P. Actually assets onscreen are decided mostly by the amount of RAM available, and since ps3 (256+256mb) has less then a 360(512+10), ps3 should actually have less happening, fill up the ram and the framerate goes down, because it has to be accessed constantly to swap out data.
But they had all this time to optimize the game so I guess it shouldn't have any slowdown anymore.

The dash works, yes, in the beginning, but after the dash, there is no invincible frame, thats were the chances are high to get tagged by IS.
The IS spammers throws like around 4 at you sometimes them explodes in various times, so most of the time the dash won't save you.

There has been many times were in the end of a signature move like Izuna Drop, OT, UT, they tag me and by the time I am gonna block and dash it explodes.

It was unbalanced.

Well when I see a new name in the forums I don't expect them to post here much, most of them never does, they only do it in the news forum for the games, but its all good.

All I want is a polished, balanced game in NGS 2, and hopefully we do get one.
I as a previous 360 owner and a NG2 owner got nothing to loose from NGS 2.

I would still buy it because 3rd person hack and slash games is lacking, good ones, and I love NG.
But Hayashi has added enough content to NGS 2 for me to re-buy it and call it a definite version even if it had minimum problems from NG2.

It's funny we are still going about the spamming IS, when that new trailer shows a lot of the same traits. Or are you not fan enough to notice that? (lol that always sounds ridiculous).

I don't know if it was this thread or the one on the front page but you also said that addign co-op for the single player would make no sense because of the story and whatnot. That is just ridiculous you know? First of all we are talking about Ninja Gaiden..........what story? If anything it would be just one more thing that is inconsistent. And that didn't stop Halo 1 from being praised in terms of story, much less gameplay. And adding a second spartan was contrary to the story.

If this game looks better it will not be because of Blu ray too. And I don't get this praise for this guy Hayashi. He added co-op and two characters and some people act like that makes him godly (what we DO know for sure). Yeah well, let's not forget that he is simply improving an already finished game.

I personally still have much doubts on how much the gameplay will be improved.

I think you are just too excited about this game which makes discussing some things meaningless.

I all Im new here Ive been a lurker for a long time and until now I just registered.

Im a fan of NG 3d series since the first one in the original Xbox and with this game coming out in the PS3 alone that kinda makes me sad I mean I have to buy a console I can't afford right know only to play this game and only for the coop aspect and I like Ayane a lot and I wanna play with her not to mention Momiji and the new weapons for Ryu that is too good to pass,I guess I have to start saving some money for a PS3 in Christmas oh well =|

I did not see any IS spamming, but they didn't even show a proper gameplay footage with those enemies in it.
I am talking about the IS spamming in NG2, and that we dont want it in NGS 2, not what we saw in NGS 2 trailer.

We can keep wishing what we want in a game, like online co-op in the story, but we can only dream and thats all we can do.
Hayashi said he wanted the story mode to be a seperated experience from the online co-op experience. If you guys want to keep wishing that they would add co-op to the story, be my guess and be misereable because its not gonna happen when it has been confirmed so many damn times.

I have wished MANY times to have Hayate in the game to have 2 badass characters like him and Ryu side by side and go crazy in a mission like mission modes, but I know I won't be getting it. Hayashi said they were planning on DLC support after release, and all I can WISH is they add new playable characters like Hayate and Kasumi for online co-op, but I will just take what I can get with Ryu, Ayane and Momiji.

About the visuals, I saw GAF posted a picture, direct feed, of Sonia from NG2 and NGS 2, and they said PS3 version is on the right. I checked the images seperetly on a site to see if they were lying and not, PS3 version, surprisingly, looks more colorful and detailed.
isc.net/cgi/up/ttt/nm11634.jpg" target="_blank" >http://toku.isc.net/cgi/up/ttt/nm11634.jpg

Hayashi added the famous Ayane for the fans and the new comer Momiji to the story play and online co-op, he added online co-op with 30 missions with 4 difficaulty settings, added a new weapon that acts somewhat as what the fans wanted to be like Dabilahro, he added that too. He added new enemies on top of that, God knows what else he added we don't know of.

Those extra contents is enough to give Hayashi the praise he deserves, the only thing Itagaki added after release was patches and outfits that looked all like shit.

PS3 always gets the short end of the stick with extras in games, but now that NGS 2 is coming out exclusively for PS3 with such things, jealously hits the roof and needs to nitpicked about it.

I am excited for it, because I regret trading NG2 in, but now that I dont have a 360 anymore, I can actually get a definite version of the game on PS3 without buying a console for the game.
I am excited for it, because I am a huge NG fan, and I will notice the smallest things being changed by a short footage, while regular NG players keeps guessing without paying much attention to them.

Just like people kept saying there is likely not to be any no OT or decapitations because of the gore wasen't in it, I proved them wrong by showing it to them that there is. I even noticed Momiji has her double jump from DS in without anyone noticing it which I also proved it.
Just to show you I am dedicated NG fan, I grew up with the game and it is my favorite franchise ever, so you have to understand that why I am so excited about NGS 2.

Besides, even if they didn't fix the IS spamming or the other major problems from NG2, I wouldn't loose anything considering I regret trading NG2 in, so this is like re-buy it, even though I am technically not doing so.
I did enjoy NG2, but on Path of the Mentor and Path of the Master Ninja, thats where the problems really shines.

I did beat Mentor, and was such a amazingly pain to do so, I don't know how my friend could beat MN in NG2 in one freaking day, kudos to him.

I like to talk about the game even though I am excited for it, and it is not meaningless, because I could talk about NG all the day, thats why I am a dedicated fan.
I think its fun to talk about the game and guess what new features might be back, what moves to expect, what stages to expect, what bosses to expect...it is fun.
Nothing has to be so serious about liking something like most people make it out to be.

PS. If it is meaningless, why are you coming in here with comments and nitpicking.
If I am too excited, its my busniess.

Hi Sath,

Im a NG fan since I first saw images of Ninja Gaiden for the xbox and let me tell you Im as excited as you with this new one although is basically the same game only with some tweaks here an there and some extras.

Im kinda upset for the lack of gore in this version,It's not something that will affect my enjoyment of the game if I get it but it's somewhat a letdown you know when you are fighting a bunch of IS ninjas and body parts are fliyng around you feel like a super unstopable killing machine and that felt good.

About the coop thing I don't think that anyone should play in the story mode besides Ryu,this is his story and only him should be able to unleash hell in there not Momiji or Ayane,in a MM it's a diferent story because you only are slicing enemys togheter in an arena without need to explain why, this is in my opinion of course.

That new weapon I think looks badass and with those red trails it's just so awesome and for the gameplay on the trailer in the front page it will handle not as heavy as the Dabi and that's a good thing especially if it handles like the UF =) my favorite weapon ever.

I too love to talk about NG and I can do it all day too

Hey IRAIPT0IR

I can say I am disaapointed in the gore as well, but if they can keep the blood as much as they did with the original I am okay with it.
NG isn't about gore anyways, it is about the gameplay and NG2 was AMAZING!

Hayashi said that he wanted the clean and sleek look to it, like the original one, and I liked the original one more than the massacre that was in NG2.
But it's all personal opinions you know.

The new weapon is like another Dabilahro like weapon, and fans wanted it back for NG2, but never happened, so they did a new weapon that acts somewhat like that.

I am just too excited.

I have read in forums that people are going nuts that there is no bloodbank in the game, but NG didn't have it either, so imagine its NG all over again but much more new stuff.

It's hard to take a guess if the trailer was censored or they reduced the blood more than original NG itself.

Combat is exactly like NG2, and MAYBE and some?
We have to watch a proper gameplay footage first.

I don't know why seriously they are making a big deal I mean it's not like it will be a different game or that affect gameplay, I find it strange that some people like it only for the blood if the gameplay(combat)is what this game is all about.

Different tastes I guess, for me it's doesn't matter if it is blood or not Black don't have tons of blood and is one of the best game ever.

I guess is that when they saw how NG2 looked, it looks underwhelmed in NGS 2.
I am not the kind of person who wants gallons of blood like say Gears of War games.

If there is enough blood in NGS2 like it was in NGS, I am okay with it.
Everytime i played the demo and fought like 5-8 enemies at the same time, in the end, blood was all over the place.

I just hope Hayashi hasen't removed the limbs staying there, I have yet to see it, but as I mentioned before, gameplay footage will be a evidance, unless its a censored version.

I doubt we will see anything now from NGS 2 until E3 which is in June.

Look again man. You can see those things flying in the air.
Hayashi said he wanted the story mode to be a seperated experience from the online co-op experience.
How long have you been following video games? This is some strong bullshit right there. It's like Polyphony and their crap about not doing damage because manufacturers don't like it.
If you guys want to keep wishing that they would add co-op to the story, be my guess and be misereable because its not gonna happen when it has been confirmed so many damn times.
Yeah I know it's not happening. The major irony would be if NG3 DOES have story co-op, he would be like "this time we did want it", bs.
Hayashi said they were planning on DLC support after release, and all I can WISH is they add new playable characters like Hayate and Kasumi for online co-op, but I will just take what I can get with Ryu, Ayane and Momiji.
I (and I know this might be very personal) don't care at all about more playable characters. It does not change the gameplay at all. It's likek playing Halo with an the arbiter or the chief......it's the same shit. Now you want the whole DOA cast or what? So it's ok to have some random character going through the whole game rather than the protagonist Ryu, but let's not have two of them going to the story because that would ruin it?
About the visuals, I saw GAF posted a picture, direct feed, of Sonia from NG2 and NGS 2, and they said PS3 version is on the right. I checked the images seperetly on a site to see if they were lying and not, PS3 version, surprisingly, looks more colorful and detailed.

More character dpes't change the gameplay? Gotta be shitting me.

A new characters means a whole new list of unique moves.

But they are just gonna ADD Ayane and Momiji story in between NG2s story, it's not from scratch.

In NG3, if they do story co-op, they can do it from scratch to make it more balanced for the enemies and the character you play as.

In Halo, its all about shooting, and nothing more, so why are you comparing two different genres to eachother.

Ayane has her moves, Ryu has his, Momiji has hers, if they added Kasumi and Hayate for online co-op it would be the same thing.
The character wouldn't affect the gameplay no, but they sure will have different moves of their own to be unique and fun to play as.

Care to tell me where the IS spamming was in the trailer, but I couldn't see it.

The originals are from the official NGS 2 site.
The PS3 is from that site, and before it, the 360 version is in the 360 section of sites like IGN and gamespot.

The NGS 2 images was released not so long time ago, so the its legit.

Well, I thought it was just going to be basically the same moves from Ryu with a different skin--that's why I sort of compared to Halo.

But if it is like you say that would be really cool.

The IS spamming well, I guess it isn't IS, but they are arrows which is basically the same thing. In the trailer from 1:08 to 1:14, they show the same aggressiveness that people seem to hate.
