Simon: yeah i understand what you mean, it's just that i don't think it's such a big deal when someone played the remake rather than the original. I totally agree that it's not the same thing but there's nothing you can do about it and hence nothing to be annoyed over ^^

I have played all NG games, except NG DS, so yeah, im hardcore NG fan, always will be.

vspectra...they are doing IMPROVING NGS 2, not remake.
ANY NG fan will notice a small difference, from small to big ones, and I have analyzed the images and it is different, for all we know Ryu's animations might have smoothened up and might even have a new move.

That purple image is a OT visual effect, for all we know.

Ryu looks much more detailed and changed than NG2, looks closely and you will know.
He looks like NG Sigma model with different outfit and better details than NG2, and thank god they did that, NG Sigma is MUCH better than NG2.

They said it is a newer improved NG2, which is the same at its core, just imroved, what we don't know, but the first trailer will give show us.

But I rather they improving something from NG2 and thats all good.

One thing I am worried about is that in EU they always censored the NG games.

NG and NGS didn't have any headchop, but for NG2 they didn't remove any of the overflow blood, looked like a bloodbank or a massacre.

With NGS2, there is blood, but if you look at the images with Ryu in them, you see Ryu doing a Flying Swallow and the enemies head is chopped off.
Notice how the purple visual effect is so strong that you can't see the blood...gives you a hint that they might have reduced the blood or something.

In NG2, the blood all over the place was its new art design, and removing that in NGS2 will dissapoint a bit.
However, I have seen some cool anime like Karas or other anime inspired images that when a limb is getting cut off they have added a strong visual effect to make it look fancy but also have a bit of blood.
The visual effect makes the gameplay in motion of the decapitations look visually stylish and fancy.

But in the end, a trailer like NGS reveal should be great, they will probably show all the new content being in the game.
I seriously can't wait!

If an Xbox fan asked me today about me playing Ninja Gaiden and all I could say was "I played Sigma" I would feel like a right knob.
But you did play NG, NG and NGS has the same experience, but NG Sigma was upgraded, simple as that.
They added next-gen effects and a few improvings, but in the end, its the same experience (and shitty Rachel mode).

Samething can be said with NG2 and NGS 2.

If you did not play NG2 but a Xbox fan asked you if you played NG2, you should say yes, considering the fact you did play NG2, just the improved version.

Or another example...someone asks you "did you play NG on Xbox" and you say "I played NG Black"...same shit, but this time its on the same console than different.

I seriously prefer the improved version of any NG, if there is one, I would buy it.
But I am biased though, I grew up with NG so I would say, NG is in my blood so yeah.

One thing I want to mention is about the visual effect on the OTs in NGS 2, I don't mind them if they replace the bloodbank of the OTs in NG2.
The fact is with the fast pace combat NG2 has (which is in NGS 2) and the amount of enemies, if you keep doing big UTs for example, and everytime Ryu cuts limbs all over the place at the same time, the visuals would go in and look colorful and beautiful.

I visualize alot in NG, so I personally think it would look amazing in motion, even if they removed the blood a bit during OTs and added those particular visual effects.

Kind of like Ninja Blade how the deaths of the enemy or the attacks hit, there is a special visual there, but here, during OTs it looks much cooler, so I am good with it.
Usually I always say NG lacks visual effects to make it look more colorful and stylish, they are mostly in JRPGs, but now if ít looks as I imagine them to be in motion, then wow.

His model looks the same, and it's not anywhere near Sigma's nice looking model (mainly due to Sigma being modeled after NG1's CG ryu, which itself looked more realistic). The only difference I notice is they added more polygons so now Ryu's leg attaching to his lower waste doesn't have noticeable polygons.

Vspectra...I see your point.
I THINK Team Ninja is using the NG Sigma engine to run NGS 2.
But non the less, if they are using it or not, it looks very good.

Team Ninja always uses upgraded versions of old engines and they mix them around if they add a new graphical feature. I wouldn't be surprised if NG2 and Sigma 1 shared coding (hence the mid-level loading in both games, unstable framerate which was sometimes apparent in NGS and not in Black), or even Sigma's engine (which allowed for self-shadows) had some of DOAX2 coding in it. I also recall Itagaki saying NG2's "completion" required all the man power from Team Ninja.

Maybe.

But I know this, me and one of my friends are hardcore NG fans, and even without watching one single NG2 footage but only images, we started analyzing them and figuring out how the moves gonna be like, what Ryu would be able to do, so we guessed, and most of the things we thought was true.

But it's mostly about what type of moves and such is back and what is not that can show in a imagine, but it is all about guesses.

I know that when I played the demo on NG2, Ryu didn't look as CG-ish model like NG Sigma, but granted, the NGS 2 images are small and they might have that model back, or maybe not.
But in the end, it looks good non the less.

But I seriously can't wait for next week on 24th and 25th, thats when their "showcase" begins, on whatever it is gonna be.

I think it's more of a problem with the character redesign. Even the Ryu CG for NG2 looked less realistic than NG1's CG. Character proportions looked cartoony, his leather looks dull whereas it was more reflective in NG1, and they added those retarded carbon fiber pieces for his abs and chest. They didn't exactly have that nice high quality render of Ryu to work off of for 2.

I think Team Ninja did an okay job in getting Ryu's look in NG2 though.

Vspectra, I don't disagree!
Those small images are hard to judge if its back to CG Ryu like NGS or not, but whatever, its all good.

But it does seem they improved the model a tiny bit in NGS2, but I am not gonna go all out through with those images, looks somewhat the same.

PS. Awesome image, haven't seen it before (even though its NG2)

It's from a case study of Team Ninja using Face Robot for facial animations. Team Ninja should have released more images like that in high-res, but for some reason they stuck to gameplay ones.

That's a pretty inefficient use of polys on the faces of these characters. Or at least, more than I would expect to see a real time game character use.

i just read the game may have online co-op...
Tecmo and its studio Team Ninja recently announced Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, a PlayStation 3 expanded remake of last year's Ninja Gaiden II, which was originally published for the Xbox 360 by Microsoft. The new version, which ships this fall, will include new playable characters, online co-op play, and other improvements.
http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?st...

whether it's something that was lost in tranlation, or they're simply mistaken, who knows.

EDIT : 5 seconds later it seems to be true, but not the way you may think
Online Co-op: Two people can engage in online co-op play, with voice chat, in 10 different stages (in 4 difficulty settings) to complete special missions. Rankings from each mission are recorded and posted online, where gamers can choose their opponents based on players' mission stats.

Fucking hell! This a is amazing news (not like it needed it, but still), good thing it counts as mission mode. Anyone wants to co-op with can add me for future ninja action =)
New playable...characters? I thought it was only Ayane aside from Ryu.

Cant wait for the trailer!

Hahaha and those that said "it wont be that different from NG2".
I guess again, I was right., but its all good

Official trailer: http://gdc.gamespot.com/video/6206586/ninja-gaiden...

Images: http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/ninjagaidensigm...

Godlike!!!

Momiji is also in it that was in NG DS, my god my wishes came true.

The purple visual effects we saw in the images looks as stylish and beautiful as I knew it would in motion.
The game still got its fast combat....however, where is the OTs and limb cutting?
I will be very dissapointed if OTs aren't in the game, they didn't show any in the video.

Also video recording isn't in NGS2, atleast they didn't mention it. I am not a video recording guy anyway, but still, nice feature.

Ayane was extremely fast and very much managable, samething goes with Momiji, however I hope we can change Momiji's weapon to something else, but it was fast.

The most epic scenery for me was the double Ninpo with Ryu and Ayane, and Ayane's single ninpo was awesome, samething powerup she does in the DOA4 ending, it was awesome.

And for those who played NG1, the devil from underworld is back, the one with golden jewelry and horns, even some of the enemies from the first NG is back, like those little purple enemies with flame heads.

But this definitely seems to be the superior version of NG2, gives you more for your money and much more replayvalue with online co-op.

Stupid edit timer...

Just wanted to say, watching the trailer for my 5th time, and I noticed during the Momiji scene, she chopped one of the soldiers legs off and the soldier moved...so decapitation and OT must be in it.
I gotta say, I didn't notice any of it, which is a very good thing, makes it fast and smooth!

First look - http://gdc.gamespot.com/story/6206597/?tag=hotslot...
Beyond new playable characters, Sigma 2 will feature an all-new online co-op mode that lets you and a friend team up to work your way through more than 30 challenge stages, which can be played in one of four difficulty settings. Your performance will be ranked and uploaded to leaderboards so you can see how you stack up against the world. The stages will be a mix of original areas and those seen in the single-player game, which are being redone for co-op play. Finally, the game will see a good amount of work put into refining the gameplay experience. The game's camera is being tweaked based on user feedback. You will also get additional cues on where to go next from your playable character because your character's head will look off in the direction you're supposed to go in.
Outside of the meat and potatoes of gameplay and visuals, Sigma 2 will feature trophy support. But you should plan on logging a good chunk of time in the game's various modes to earn them all, because Team Ninja is sprinkling them throughout both the single-player and the co-op modes.
Lastly, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 will feature Dual Shock 3/Sixaxis functionality, so you can plan on rumble to enhance your experience and shaking your way to more powerful ninpo magic attacks.
The game also has the OT feature as wel.
At one scene with Momiji, it seems she does a Ultimate Technique move in the air (her weapon glows red), which seems to be a new gamepplay mechanic (I could be wrong, which I hope not).

@sath,

Uh, well I thought the main problem was the actual gameplay so surely adding co-op wouldn't mean much if you simply don't like the gameplay.

I'd like to see what they truly do in terms of gameplay. And again, level design is pretty much set, which I thought you didn't like?

Team Ninja experimented with co-op during the development of NG2, so I feel all of this new content should have been in NG2 in the first place if the development stage wasn't so rushed. Meh.

All i can hope for if they start fixing things is first of all invincible frames during the dash. Also it'd be great if they balanced out the damage and frequency of projectile attacks.
Uhm, You ARE invincible during the dash, just only at the very start of it, thats how I dodge damage from an IS that actually hit me, just time it and dash at the very last second....BOOOM... but zero damage ;), wanting a bigger invincibility window is just retarded and not even needed, they made the game this way for a reason, use its system, instead of bitching about the old one (like a certain poster here, not you)
Posted by Sath
The framerate in NG2 was a joke, but PS3 has enough room to have more stuff on screen at the same time without having much or any issues at all.
.....You did NOT just say that... did you? I mean if you were serious, you just lost the little credibility you had left. Now you have none, go back and take a lesson in computer technology and coding 101 before saying anymore nonsense.
