this looks way beyond anything possible this gen, but in engine gives me a bit of pause. I'll take that with a grain of salt but remain hopeful. I think it is even possible to see some weakness in the visuals in 4k. When it zooms out on the riperian landscape, you can see lower res texturing and detail away from the settlement.

This looks good, but "in-engine" doesn't mean much. It's like those stunning engine demos that both companies and individuals make, where they look gorgeous, but have no physics or any interaction of any kind.

It gives the impression that current game developers are lazy, because if one individual can make something gorgeously stunning, why don't teams of  hundreds to thousands of experienced game developers can't!?!

Because all this shit is only visuals and sounds, as soon as you start adding physics, interactible objects, NPCs, gameplay mechanics, etc., then the whole thing comes crashing down back to reality.

People forget that today's game engines do a whole lot better graphics than a lot of CG stuff from even 10 years ago, so the words "in-engine" should be taken to mean more like CG, which is almost what they are, then the potential gameplay experience one will have while actually playing the game.

Probably stupid rant, but still worth reminding some people that end up forgetting what "in-engine" means, it's just visuals without any substance. We're going to keep seeing and hearing the term a lot in the next years, which is fine as long as it's taken with the knowledge of what it is and that it does not represent what people will see when they play the game.

Stunning trailer, really loved the first game but this is on another level. if you have any doubt about in engine graphics go look at first trailer for Hellblade 1.

Very well made trailer. Will the game actually looks this good? Maybe not, but i think close to it. Some current gen games are already looking freaking incredible.

Good for Ninja Theory getting that AAA budget btw.

And it's not the first time that Ninja Theory showed an in-engine demo and then the final product looked downgraded. Is this one still running on UE4 though ?

I've played many woke games in the past few years and Hellblade wasn't one of them. I recommend you to play it, such a great game it is.

Seriously, though, this reveal was just weird, and a bit too low key. Almost as if most people just didn't give a fuck. I remember the reveal of the 360 and even the X1, despite the controversy of the decisions they made with that, it still garnered more attention and excitement. This was just "Oh, right, here's our new console! It looks like a cubed PC! And Here's a game on it! That's it. Goodnight!" Just an odd reveal and an odd time to drop it. I'm not saying that the console itself looks bad, because I like the design of it, actually, it's just that I couldn't care! It's not saying anything to me at all!  I'm by no means a Sony fan, but I do like how they are just keeping everything so tight-lipped and their cards held firmly to their chest and doing things in their own time, and on their own terms. Add to the fact they've already stated their devotion to VR and how everything is backward compatible, that has sold me more on their new system more than this bland, vague reveal, and they haven't even shown a thing yet.

Pathetic, isn't it? Sadly the world and the political climate we all (normal people who just want to get on with it) have to put up with. A game that literally has a message about mental illness, yet these dickheads want to espouse their mental politics on it. Ironic.

So not approving woke culture that destroys all modern entertainment such as as movies , videogames,tv series etc is backwards hate-spewing mentality ? I think my friend too much playing videogames and watching Mtv has taken a toll in the already small number of your functioning braincells

Microsoft needed to respond to the whole Sony "the next PlayStation is called PS5, up for preorder officially right now because we officially named it" statement from 2 months ago. This is it. But damn, what a terrible name for a console, now I'm thinking the crap Scarlett thing wasn't so bad. Its got Wii U vibes all over it. And it seems people forget how amazing Heavenly Sword's facial work was in 2007. This facial level is expected from this talented studio. Their gameplay consistently falls short though.

Destroying all modern entertainement ? You mean rejuvenating, it never has been so good in decades. We're having some of the best movies/show and videogames ever. Hellblade 1 been amongst them. Also, Mtv ? Really ? What year is this ? The late 90s/early 2ks ? lol. And also quite ironic being told that I have a small number of functioning braincells by someone with the F word in his nickname...
