Bit more info on Family Sharing, this makes much more sense to me now.
Quote:

I talked to the 'on-site' Microsoft representative there about some of the issues, here's a rundown of some of the interesting things he said:

1. In the family/friend circle, concurrent play is allowed on the same game. Say I get battlefield 4 and put it in my share. 1 person can play it with me, single player and/or multiplayer.

2. The other 9 people no longer have access to my shared library until that person is done playing.

3. Every person within the group can make their shared games available, so if 5 people in the group buy battlefield 4, the other 5 can play concurrently through other 'shared libraries' in the group. This way, everyone gets to play.

4. (this one tidbit was REALLY interesting) Let's say you have battlefield 4 in your family share circle, and you pick up halo 5 when it drops. no one in that circle is really interested at all in that game. you can have OTHER circles that you can share games with. You CANNOT have the same game in multiple circles, however. So if you put Halo 5 in one, it cannot be in another unless you remove it from that circle. No word on how many circles you can have, however.

5. The trade-off with this system, as I know a lot of people on GAF were saying there HAD to be one, is already known. It's the 24-hour check. In order to make sure that this system isn't exploitable, they needed a way to ensure that games weren't being passed around physically to be pirated/exploited. So that's the trade-off, to get this type of sharing system between friends/family and keep devs/pubs happy.

There were other things, but I got stuck in traffic and this is all that I one-noted. If I explained something in a way that you don't get, I'll try to rephrase it for you. I'm paraphrasing most of this because our conversation was probably 20 minutes and I had to go through MULTIPLE scenarios and analogies to get exact info from him.

I'm still looking forward to Major Nelson laying it out in plain english, but there were some good tidbits. This is what the Microsoft stores are being trained with from the reps, so take that as you will.
Sounds great!, where did the info come from?

MS need to somehow team up with the likes of lovefilm and gamefly, have a similar "family sharing" system, but on a way, WAY larger scale, where you can rent any game included in the price of the subscription you already pay for lovefilm of gamefly, with no gold sub requirements. That would be quite cool. Digital rentals of any game with no additional fee's from MS. That COULD sway me.

This is much better than I thought. I had assumed that when you put a game in the shared library, only one person can play it at a time. The fact that the owner and another family member can play at the same time is an incredible feature! Multiple shared libraries sounds great too!

I did it with Crysis, Borderlands, Ninja Gaiden 3 RE, Tekken, Starhawk, Marvel vs Capcom 2...etc. AND DLCs to games...on PS3 with two of my friendslist. None of them nor me had to take turn, and some games with online, both could go online (NG3 RE being me downloaded from him).
PS4 will do the same thing so its not an advantage per se, but it sure is a good feature in general.

Yeah the 2 playing at the same time has been done, but accessing 9 other friends shared games library sounds great and has not been done on consoles before.

Do know this, this was a workaround feature not an official feature like MS is doing but they sure are copying the idea.

How it works is like this...
Your friend gives you his/her email and password (they can change the password to something else for you to use) and then you create a new account just like their name and then log in to their account, go to PSN history list and you can download anything (some are locked, not sure how to check if they arent) you want from that list.
You just tell your friend when you sign back to your own account that you are out of their account so they can change their password again to their default and log in back as usual and then when DL and install is done in your HDD you can play it.
But like Xbox, you must have their account on your friendlist for it to work since they are the original owner.

Like I said, it is a workaround feature it wasent official thats why its so all over the place for doing this.
I did this with Raptor when he had a Ps3, he took Crysis and Borderlands from me and another friend took other games.

Sure, but what if none of your friends dont know the other people on your list, they gonna start adding all 8 of your friends they dont know at all just to message them constantly "are you done with this game yet?" sound dumb to me.

What are you talking about, you add your 9 friends and get access to each of there individual games, and they get access to mine so we only need to talk to each other, the 9 other friends I've added can in turn add any 9 other people they know.

If you play it and another one play it, how does others on your list know your friend isnt playing it so they can play it? do they have to check up on them with messages?

No they just message me which I would expect them to do anyway.

I also assume there will be a check out type system that will inform you if a share is in use or not.

Hmm, sounds like an exploit to me, is this actually legal? Its also quite a bit different to what MS is offering and not anywhere near as good/convenient/flexible. I cant find anything on PS4 family share, I hope its not like that.

I assume the game wont appear on the list if its already being played or it will appear disabled. They will probably have a notification system that you can set up to alert you when the game is available to play.

Yeah that would be better, some sort of a status info of some sort.

Because it was a exploit a workaround, it was never an official feature thats why its so complicated. The reason why MS is doing it so easily is because its obviously they stole this idea from PS3 and expanded it to make it official.
If it wasent legal Sony would have shut down the feature completely, but considering they went from 5 users to 2 (including you) means Sony is okay with it.
I do hope for Ps4 they do it more open, safe and into an actual feature.

Sunset Overdrive, sounds like the wacky art style is there to stay.
“Sunsest Overdrive” has a very unique art style, what was the inspiration for the visuals?

We’re focusing on fun and style over realism. The visuals represent what Insomniac does best – over-the-top, exaggerated, colorful style. And that style is driven by the game’s story theme of freedom and self-expression. This is us truly enjoying the chance to shoot expectations in the head, to be different, to deliver on the brash and irreverent tone that’s on display in our reveal trailer.

Is that why they kept their Insominac tradition with Fuse?

And what direction would that be? I've already got both consoles reserved, but I'm not going to be fooled into thinking there will be greener pastures with the PS4. It's the same colored grass for everybody.
It was about that ambiguity of holding a torch thing. Previously in your post you said
Posted by GrimThorne
So why are so many people holding this torch for Microsoft when these kind of policies already exist for Desktop and mobile platforms?
and I interpreted it being a bad thing that people were holding a torch for Microsoft. Like it was a bad thing that Microsoft were accused over something that was common already elsewhere. Now thinking about it maybe it should have been holding a torch against Microsoft... I am a bit confused. Was it a good or a bad thing to hold that torch?

Then, when you said
Posted by GrimThorne
I should have amended....why AM I holding this torch for Microsoft and I endure similar policies with Steam?
I interpreted it like you were now questioning yourself of why you would just accept same policies.
Because holding and carrying a torch are so close to each other.

carry a torch for somebody (old-fashioned)
to secretly love someone who does not love you Graeme's been carrying a torch for Linda for years.
You may think that it is just useless to voice your opinions and people are wasting their time. This is not wasting a time at all, though. It may turn out that the way you are predicting it, is going to happen no matter what. Even in that case, people still have a choice, fortunately. Until then it is actually quite nice to disagree against the opinion that the game industry tells and people obey.

I actually surprised myself of how unloyal I am to Microsoft. Even though the Xbox has been my gaming platform of choice for these two generations, it didn't take much for me to abandon them. This is because I can't get over that 24 hour check. I just can't deal with it. My mobile internet could probably handle it, but the reasoning behind that policy just doesn't fly with me.

I was ready to abandon the whole next generation. Thinking that the old games and maybe handheld consoles could suffice. And, Wii U is not totally out of the picture yet. Though it is hard for me to consider it as a next generation hardware.

I still don't have any hurry for the next generation. But fortunately Sony is also now at least trying to keep the physical media alive. Or at least how owning a physical media is perceived. From the Golden Days of Sega I have been anti-Sony. But I am now realising that maybe I was actually more against those people that jumped onboard of Sony (because they apparently were enticed by the brand) than Sony itself. People just didn't give Sega the chance that it deserved.

Music to my ears. Because, when you really think about it, this seems like it has potential to be a more wacky and colorful Division.
You said that “Sunset Overdrive” is a living world, facilitated by the cloud. Can you tell us more about that?

Imagine a game where the experience can constantly change, and is influenced by its community of players. With “Sunset Overdrive” we aspire to redefine “agility” as we listen to feedback players give us while playing the game and then respond with meaningful content - fast. In particular our goal is to maintain an ongoing 2-way dialogue with our community.

Don’t like something? Tell us. Got an idea for something cool in the game? Speak up! We’re building systems to support rapid content updates. I'm talking about pop culturally relevant content like memes and social commentary, new weapons, new characters, and more. And because “Sunset Overdrive” is a stylized, satirical game we’re not limited by some strict idea of what’s “appropriate”.
Sounds ambitious. We'll see how it works out in the reality.

Because, like with Resistance, their fans and the media weren't entirely honest with them about how terrible Resistance always was because they were a Sony first party then, and so after having so much success with generic and shitty looking Resistance titles, they felt they could go back to the well again as a multi-platform, but they found out the hard way that the rose tinted glasses were no longer fully operational regarding the quality of games they produce when they attempt to make pure shooters.

They should stick to the style that suits them best, and pure shooters isn't it. Sunset Overdrive has Insomniac written all over it. Now it's a matter of following through and executing. If they simply stay true to the feeling and vibe in that trailer I'll already be a happy camper, especially if they capture some of the wackier potential gameplay features.

Insomniac have never been sony first party. They've been contractually signed independent developers, much like remedy and MS or quantic dream and sony etc.

And it isn't just fuse, the last 2 ratchet games haven't been great either. The trailer looks good, but then the trailer looked good for fuse too. Lets just say my hopes aren't exactly high. We'll see.
