What's to misinform them, its obvious by the internet that PS4 is being favoured for a good reason.

Or is the internet wrong ?

It's just that wide parts of the internet (especially gaming-forums) are like:

BOOOOOOOOOO! FUCK YOU MS!! XBox is killing teh buisness!! If you buy an XBox One, you commit the hollocaust AGAIN! KINECT will spy TEH SHIT ouT oF you! Don Mattrick = Adolf Hitler, blablabla

Whenever you talk to someone about the Xbox One you should also mention family-sharing and not just the 'facts' I stated above.

I actually think that Xbox One's concept might be just perfect for some players (In fact it would have been perfect for me IF Kinect was not mandatory). It is almost as if people who dont hate MS right now are stigmatised.

No, no one is hating Microsoft because it's fashionable. Everyone is hating them right now because they are stripping us of our right to be able to play games offline and be able to trade them / gift them / exchange them whenever the hell we want to.

It boils down to those two simple facts and it does not require much intelligence to come to the realisation that we are being screwed. This is yet another attempt by greedy corporations to control the "when" and "how" we can use content we bought with our own money, so excuse me for not falling for it or swallowing their "sharing" nonsense pill and remaining quiet.

Later this year, I am voting with my wallet and anyone in their right mind should be doing the same.

Perhaps there are those people around, but they have a different agenda.

Personally the people I have been warning are those who either buy second hand games, trade games or friends and family with kids who can't afford to buy almost full priced 2nd hand games, not to mention the always online stuff and price.

Not all of us are rabid fanboys ya know. (although MS are quickly making me a non-fan)

Much of the good will MS has been building over the last 2 generations has been flushed down the toilet.

Sure. But you should also explain to them that this is just sweetening the deal so they can take your consumer rights away. They could still use disc authentication and have a family sharing plan for digital purchases.

Heck, it looks like Steam is readying a library sharing feature too.

With Xbox One you can share your games to 10 family members/friends! Microsoft won’t make any birth validation, so you can put any friend to your family list. Even better, two people can play simultaneously the same game! And if not simultaneously you can instantly play the same game one after one. For example: Your friends can play the game during the day. Sure, if it’s 10 people only 2 can play simultaneously, but the rest needs to coordinate when to play. When you come home from work you can play the game. As owner you will always be able to launch the game. None of your friends can block you.

The big advantage is you can do sharing and play simultaneously! Instantly! You cannot do that with PS4, because you need the disc for authorization! Because of this you won’t have sharing on PS4. On PS4 you need to send your disc cross-country if ours friends are located in different cities! But then, you cannot play your own games!
You can only provide sharing if you do some online checking to synchronize authorization with your friends.

He probably knows that. But still, you don't even physically own the game that you are allowed to share.

If your disc is broken or whatever you won't own anything! If you borrow you discs to friends you probably won't be able to play you games for weeks!

(My Halo 3CE Box was designed to slowly break the disk, LOL)
See, thats why I think that arguing about this issue is quite pointless.

It is a matter of attitude.

I agree that if and as long as MS servers are working, imo their console sounds nothing as bad as people say. It actually sounds like a very convenient system where you can play games online with a friend, although you just bought one copy. As I said, personally for my needs it would almost be perfect, IF they wouldn't shove Kinect up my arse.

But still we don't know what happens after the console's lifecycle. If MS shut down the servers, you can poop on your console and your games...

But to be frank, I wouldn't even bother so much about them servers eventually getting shut down, because at the time they did it for the Original Xbox, my old Box was untouched for like 2 years and hasn't been touched since. (Although I played Halo CE and PGR2 a few times on the 360, just for nostalgia).

[P.S. I think that recent console will never reach a nostalgia level like my SNES, so I wouldn't even mind that so much]

Sharing is not an advantage of the XB1 retail model. Disc authentication and sharing of direct downloads could co-exist.

For that reason alone I do not really consider that a valid argument in support of Microsoft's tactics.

Citing multiple sources, GiantBomb says Microsoft has decided to remove a laundry list of Xbox One restrictions that customers considered negative:

No more always online requirement
The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours
All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360
Authentication is no longer necessary
An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console
All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline
No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs
Region locks have been dropped
You're all fucking welcome.

But please feel free to argue that none of that matters.

Great news if true. Multiplats are almost guaranteed to look better on PS4. So it's still going to need some hella exclusives to sell it. But if they show crackdown, and some awesome new REAL exclusive IP's. then i'll pick one up.

Question though, if the console can install all it's games, how are they going to police me renting a game, installing it, and then keeping it forever?

So MS had to get their ass raped by so many sites and fans to understand it was a stupid move yet they kept going on and on and on defending their "future".
Laughable.

I still wont buy it since it costs too much, comes with their shitty Kinect...and no exclusives for me to care for whatsoever.

The Kotaku link has been updated with an official statement. It's the real deal;-

http://kotaku.com/microsoft-is-removing-xbox-one-d...
Last week at E3, the excitement, creativity and future of our industry was on display for a global audience.

For us, the future comes in the form of Xbox One, a system designed to be the best place to play games this year and for many years to come. As is our heritage with Xbox, we designed a system that could take full advantage of advances in technology in order to deliver a breakthrough in game play and entertainment. We imagined a new set of benefits such as easier roaming, family sharing, and new ways to try and buy games. We believe in the benefits of a connected, digital future.

Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback. I would like to take the opportunity today to thank you for your assistance in helping us to reshape the future of Xbox One.

You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world.

So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360. Here is what that means:

An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.

Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.

In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console — there will be no regional restrictions.

These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.

We appreciate your passion, support and willingness to challenge the assumptions of digital licensing and connectivity. While we believe that the majority of people will play games online and access the cloud for both games and entertainment, we will give consumers the choice of both physical and digital content. We have listened and we have heard loud and clear from your feedback that you want the best of both worlds.

Thank you again for your candid feedback. Our team remains committed to listening, taking feedback and delivering a great product for you later this year.
I'm surprised they acted this swiftly and fair play to them for doing so. That is a big about face and it'd be nice to see some of their more hubristic executives find a career change of a similar magnitude.

I'm still out as the price is too expensive and I've not seen any compelling software. I stand by my prediction of a price cut in a year. However, once they do get some sort of price close to the PS4 and some good exclusives then they may yet make a fist of the generation. Whether there's room for two consoles in this decade remains to be seen.

I imagine the mandatory installs will remain as games will have been developed with a hard drive in mind for game assets etc. However, there will be the usual disc in the drive check to get you going.
