Well the supernatural tone is all but confirmed, but we already had some idea with the comic books. Man this game has really shaped up! This is why I think that game conventions can sometimes do more harm than good. If Ryse looked like this at E3, people would have already been calling it a system seller.

Doc, that Quantum Break footage isn't new. That same footage was in the dev diary released from a good while back. It may possibly be one of the few examples of actual gameplay though. We'll know more when new info is released though. :)

What these gifs dont show you is the moments after the cutscenes where you flail all over the place with terrible animations and horribly dull gameplay.

That's real gameplay. An execution animation, but gameplay. Sounds to me like people have their minds made up based on far more than just the actual state of the game. The animations in the latest SP footage shown are far from terrible, and the gameplay being supposedly dull, well, that's your opinion. I happen to think the gameplay looks pretty good, and probably feels better than it looks. Crytek made a point to put a disclaimer on earlier footage, informing people it wasn't representative of the final game quality. There seem to have been a number of improvements to the game, particularly in the animation department. Combat animations, and their transitions, appear to flow and blend together much better, and how it looks, at least based on prior footage, was always dependent on how the person is playing.

You can flail, mashing away as fast as you want, but you can also slow things down and time your assaults better, or allow the fight to come to you a bit more, rather than trying to press too aggressively. There may even be a possibility (based on gameplay parts in story trailer) that Crytek has slowed down the player attack speed some to cut down on the high speed flailing. Either that, or the player was just slowing it down intentionally, timing things more carefully, something Crytek said from very early on would be a possible way to play the game.

If you have little or no interest in the game, it wouldn't be hard to see why people are rushing to judgment, largely based on much earlier footage, most of which was incredibly buggy MP. If that wasn't all, there's also strong indications that Crytek isn't even directly building the MP part of the game themselves. Evidence suggests that MP is largely outsourced and being developed by the Crackdown 2 team. And what little has been shown of ranged combat, I admit, may strike some as dull or unexciting, but then that's obviously just meant to help mix things up a bit, which I don't think hurts this type of game. The core of the gameplay's bulk is the sword and shield, and I think it looks much better than people are giving it credit for. Crytek says more pure gameplay oriented footage is being released soon.
