I've been watching my roommate play through it, and man, most other devs should be ashamed of themselves. Such gorgeous, well-designed environments with so much detail, tons of animation variety, great music, and a whole lot of spot on writing and voice acting. They've pretty much been nailing it on every account.

I think the 250GB, Uncharted 2 bundle is released on the 19th Alimo, so maybe keep an eye on that.

Canceled my order with play.com due to STILL not posted it even though they had it in stock since last thursday...
So friday afternoon leaving work early to go pick it up from game with some PIZZAS!

@ manthatyoufear - you should buy your games from shopto.net, they delivery practically everything a day before release, or in this case, 2 days before release.

been playing for the last 3 hours, and it is incredible. visually it's stunning, be we all knew that anyway, but the story, voice work and twists and turns are so well done. i havnt played a game that has come so close to capturing the movie feel like this one. everyone goes on about MGS and how it's the equivilant of a movie, but this is how it should be done. i'm itching to find out what happens next. but sadly have to leave it untill tomorrow night.

MGS4 is the equivalent of a movie in the sense that it's mostly watched and not played. It speaks volumes to ND's developer prowess that U2's gameplay is simultaneously more movie-like and more engaging than any aspect of MGS4. Top it off with better visuals and better writing.... just amazing.

exactly, even based on these first 3 hours i think it's by far the best game of this gen. the tutorial alone had my jaw on the floor, and then i saw the snow i practically passed out.

Watched my mate play it in his room for half an hour, i liked the end of the train car section it played well and looked good, but after that, then started the sewer section on the way to some museum i think?, and that section just reminded me why i don't like these plat-former type games, as i was bored enough to walk away, my mate is enjoying it though, so it should be great for those that are fans.

Thanks for those well thought out and deep hitting impressions...

I started playing it and made it to chapter 8 in one sitting. Amazing so far. The game is improved from the first in ways I didn't even think of. It's a completely fresh experience. Aiming and gunplay is much tighter and the set pieces just compliment and move the story along perfectly. One of the most polished singleplayer experiences I've had. Everything just feels...Great.
