GSY Retro PC Xbox 360 PS3

For this new chapter in our GSY Retro series, we decided to focus on a studio rather than a game. Black Rock Studio, formerly known as Climax (Moto GP on the first Xbox), managed to develop two new franchises whose Metacritic score reached more than 80. Sadly, it didn't prevent them from being shut down by Disney Interactive in 2011, a year after their second game was released. As you may have already guessed, the two titles we're talking about are Pure and Split/Second, two games that were undeniably good and that would have deserved next gen sequels. Take a look at our videos of the two PC ports (and realize that we have come a long way since then in terms of PC adaptations).

Xbox 360 PS3

Disney Interactive's Pure will be released in Europe this week on PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, and here are the First 10 Minutes from the game; as usual in video form. The game has given me some of the most fun play sessions this console generation (both in singleplayer and multiplayer) and there's no reason for racing fans to miss out on this fantastic game.

Xbox 360

Disney Interactive Studios have put together a demo for Pure, which just hit the Marketplace and will go online on PSN soon. What a demo! I've never thought four-wheeling could be so fun, but this is some good stuff. Great graphics, great sound, awesome gameplay. You'll see notifications on the screen, "B lost" etc - you do tricks, and then fill the meter in the right corner. The more it's filled, the more advance tricks you can do. We captured gameplay videos for those unable to download the demo, enjoy.

Xbox 360 PS3

Pure really impressed us at the Games Convention with its over the top gameplay and a very impressive engine, and this tricks featurette certainly doesn't prove us wrong. Arcade fans, keep an eye open for this game!

Xbox 360 PS3

As promised here is the second video of Pure, again played by the game's designer for an even classier experience!

Xbox 360 PS3

Pure is of course at the Game Convention, and we'll have two videos of the game played by Chris Bowles, designer of the game. First video is up already.

Xbox 360 PS3

Let's continue with the remaining videos from E3 ! It's now the turn of Pure to have its own gameplay video, about three minutes long and showcasing two different maps. Clearly, the game seems right on track to deliver the awesome. So far so good !

Xbox 360 PS3

Disney and Black Rock release some new images of Pure, their beautiful acrobatic offroad simulation. It looks really fine, and the studio has a good track record. The game is planned to be released on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 later this year.

Xbox 360 PS3

Disney Interactive Studios released this batch of images of Pure, lookin good so far. Some of the images have been around on the net for a while, but we've yet to get them until now.

PC Xbox 360 PS3

BlackRock Studio sends this awesome (HD) trailer of Pure, its really impressive ATV videogame. It will be possible to build your own machine from scratch, choosing pieces like the engine, the tires or various other parts that will affect performance while in races.

jmd749 @MrWhite: I see you're just as excited as me for Half Life Alyx. :) I can't freaking wait for it to release. Valve played this one quite close to the chest. It is indeed going to be revolutionary!!! (2 Hours ago)

MrWhite And those headcrabs in dark rooms are going to be fun. Fuckin hell. (16 Hours ago)

  • MrWhite

MrWhite Imagine scrambling to reload the gun, dropping the ammo on the ground, and picking up a brick instead and bashing a combine troop with it, saving your bacon. (16 Hours ago)

MrWhite @Melmoth: Well, then, if that gameplay is indicative of what its like overall, and if the AI can react to you touching things, thus making noise or becoming visible, then its going to be revolutionary (16 Hours ago)

Melmoth @MrWhite: ..and ofc it's the perfect opportunity for us to build Dog :) (17 Hours ago)

  • Melmoth

Melmoth @MrWhite: they say it's a full length game like HL2 of about 13-15 hours long. And making it VR only they can take proper advantage of having hands. Hope there's many nice gameplay innovations . (17 Hours ago)

  • MrWhite

MrWhite The only thing I'm sort of surprised about is the lack of full body presence. Boneworks has it, and it looks like it's sharing the same kind of mechanics engine too. (17 Hours ago)
