GSY Review PC PS4 Xbox One

As we were sent our review copy of Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom a bit late, we haven't been able to play more than 6 hours and 30 minutes. We have no final verdict for you guys but we still want to share our thoughts on our experience so far. To illustrate our short paragraph, we also have a bunch of new videos.

Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom will finally be released next week, but we have already been able to play the game for 5 hours on PC. It is too soon to tell you what we think (and we're under embargo), but you can see the first 30 minutes of the adventure for yourself and tell us what you think. It is no surprise as we saw the game on several occasions in the past, but Shiness is no technical marvel. Still, its colorful world is pleasant to explore and the game runs smoothly in 4K (our videos were captured in 1080p but the game was running in 4K). Our main grudge with the visuals is the huge difference between the character design in the comic book cutscenes and the 3D models themselves.

When we saw Shiness at the Focus Days event back in February, the developers were planning a summer release, but they obviously decided to polish it a few more weeks as it won't be available before the end of this year. Inside, you will find the Gamescom trailer of the game.

Melmoth @nostradamus: the old Lawrence Holland SW games (as well as his WW2 flight sims) were made for a different audience. Elegant games for a more civilized age. (7 minutes ago)

  • nostradamus

nostradamus in the end there is still a whole lot more missions to go, but EA will never not "MassProduceFrame" this franchise, so no more EA for me. (it was a gift) - The respawn game is indeed an odd one out. (6 Hours ago)

  • nostradamus

nostradamus @Melmoth: yhea, but i still think the missions are the tipical EA clones, not a dent on Lucas Arts/Totallygames. Apt, as a new age Star Wars fast food junk. That VR Mission was some bait&switch. (6 Hours ago)

  • Melmoth

Melmoth @nostradamus: You use the PSVR? SW Squadrons is really cool in VR. The feeling of zipping past a star destroyer in a x-wing is a childhood dream come true. (14 Hours ago)

nostradamus @Melmoth: psvr 2.0, its bad too, really bad. and no up/down adjust (20 Hours ago)
