Project Sylpheed trailer

Microsoft released this english trailer of Project Sylpheed, and it's a quite good one at that. The demo is available on the Marketplace since a few days, and should help you guys get a better idea of what this game is all about.

Images of US Project Sylpheed

Microsoft today announced that two games will light up this Xbox 360 summer - Project Sylpheed and Vampire's Rain. Both of them will be released in the US, and we can just hope that they'll be released in summer for us in Europe too. Inside you'll find images from the US version of Project Sylpheed.

Project Sylpheed: Missions 3 & 4

Found on a japanese upload site, here is a video that pleases my lazy self since it shows almost exactly what I had planned to show in the second part of my Project Sylpheed video. Many thanks to the unknown author of this off-screen video. More seriously, I'm almost at the 4th mission of the game and despite some framerate flaws this is now one of my favorite Xbox 360 titles so far. Let's hope a localized version will be released outside Japan soon!

The first 10 minutes: Project Sylpheed

First (and last?) game published by Square Enix to be Xbox 360 exclusive, Project Sylpheed is a space 3d shooter that will without a doubt remind quite a few of the excellent Wing Commander series. Lots of excellent looking cutscenes, story driven fights and lots of chatter, the list of similarities is long. But I'm certainly not complaining! The gameplay is quite good, after the first few minutes where everything is quite confusing everything clicks and the flight controls and weapons feel natural. I'll keep playing and will do a second part video with more details, at least if I manage to unlock the next levels as the game is quite hard, even in normal difficulty. You all know how a gamer I can be ;)
You'll certainly notice that the 720p version is a 495 MB monster. It took more than 2 hours to encode it and I didn't feel like restarting again after cutting some parts of the video. So go wild!

TGS06: Project Sylpheed video

Project Sylpheed, developed by Game Arts and published by Square-Enix, was also waiting us on the MS booth. Honestly, as I haven't played the game myself yet, I can't tell you if it's as messy to play as it is to watch. But for what it's worth, the guy playing seemed to have a good time, and I may have recognized a Panzer Dragoon Orta-inspired lock system. Good news ?

Project Sylpheed images

Square-Enix updated (for the last time?) the Project Sylpheed official site. Nothing much was really interesting, but I think these 6 images are new. The game will be released in 2 weeks and we still have to see more than short 2-3 seconds gameplay sequences. I'm not sure this is a good sign.

2 new Project Sylpheed characters and a new video

Square-Enix updated the official Project Sylpheed page with two new characters: May and Sandra. The game will be released in less than one month in Japan, and we still have to see more than a few split seconds of gameplay, this is getting worrying.
Update: Just in time to prove my point, Microsoft put online this brand new trailer of the game, showing about 3 minutes of quite nice CG footage and juste a few seconds of gameplay.
Update 2: Added a slightly better looking version of the video.

Square-Enix released these images of Project Sylpheed, looking as good as ever. Kind of giving some Lylat Wars-vibes, again.

What's up?
  • GeRaLTo
GeRaLTo @Baleur: 80% of reviews are written by "drones" .Ign, eurogamer, teamxbox, gamespot etc are nothing but companies. Who cares 'bout theirs "reviews" anyway (44 minutes ago)
  • Baleur
Baleur Why are you discussing reviews anyway? When have reviews ever mattered? They are just individual people writing about their individual opinions. Might as well read reviews on music too then, lol XD (3 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX pfft text! we only care for numbers (3 Hours ago)
  • blmbox
blmbox Yeah, but judging by the content of both reviews, Eurogamer didn't particularly care much for the game anyway. They probably only gave it an 8 to avoid controversy - the review sounded more like a 6. (7 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX 6 to 8 split on Eurogamer, which isn't quite as large but still pretty significant. (9 Hours ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Yeah sure, but from what console reviews are saying it's perfectly adequate. I mean I'm sure PC is the way to go, but I sincerely doubt we're seeing a 5 to 9 split score wise or anything. (9 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX not that the Xbox version is "that bad" by most accounts either.. there are plenty of people here playing it who adore it.. but the PC game is recieving higher marks across the board (9 Hours ago)
