Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)

Other than that, I'm glad to hear the positive impressions. Have you tried out the PC version of the map editor Grift? Is that something that interests you?
On the subject of this game ruining you in other FPS, this is happening to me on PC thanks to their awful keybind options. I'm actually considering putting this down until they fix it. In this day and age, not offering proper options for controls on the PC is a travesty. You have people who have been playing these games for over a decade and we always like to use what we know best. That means, for me, holding crouch, and toggling zoom. I noticed after playing Far Cry 2 for 11 hours this week, that I was trying to do the opposite when I went back to Call of Duty. While COD4 gives me the option to configure it like FC2, I shouldn't have to do that.
Great game though, anyway. I don't really get the complaints about the outpost respawn times.. or the enemies aim, or their ability to find you. I haven't had a problem with any of those things. I'm playing this game on hard and it's not exactly challenging. With my AK-47 and MAC-10 in tow, I look forward to those baddies respawning quickly. Shooting people is why we play FPS, isn't it?
More animals, and civilians, would both be nice additions to this game Uruk. The game does feel a little lifeless at times. Fast travel would improve this game dramatically too. Hopefully some of those things might be modded in by the community in the future. Prone too. This game begs for more stances.
Oooh, new page = new screenshots. You can't stop me!
It's a shame that games are still being "Bioshocked"--what gives? I guess I shouldn't be too shocked when the game doesn't even have proper key bind options. And at least we can manually fix it on the PC.
Kudos to whoever came up with this.
You can change the keys used near the top of the file (it should be easy to find). By default "[" and "]" are used to enable/disable the toggle functionality (turn the script on/off). Toggled crouch is "c", non-toggled crouch is mapped to "left control". Iron sights and zoom is still on right mouse, however you need to map it in the game under "," (Don't ask why, FC2 is a strange game).
Ironsight/zoom functionality needs no explanation, press once to zoom, press again to zoom out. Non-toggled crouch is slightly more involved. It tries to model an in-game implementation of the feature, so for example if you press the toggled crouch key while holding down the non-toggled key, you will switch into a toggled mode (if you let go of all the keys the character will still remain crouching, without exposing themself). This is useful if you want to be sneaky/stealthy without getting sore fingers ;)
Unfortunately using the crouch key in a vehicle (used to switch positions) can confuse the script (it has no way of knowing that you aren't actually crouching) so that the standing/crouching states may get confused. If this happens just disable/re-enable (using the "[" key) while standing to reset everything back to normal.
Now this sort of stuff, in addition to the FOV fix, is exactly the kind of support that Ubisoft should be offering for this game in the first place. With that in mind, I'm still extremely happy that someone is stepping up and doing it for them. Now I just need to figure out how to install this damn thing.. as it didn't actually come with instructions, outside of the quoted information above.
Yay, I can actually play Far Cry 2 again!
edit: Works like a charm. Requires the application AutoHotKey, found here:

And also, someone here was complaining about not having a crossair. This is also an option, off by default, but can be turned on if you please...

Strange memories on this nervous night in Las Vegas. Has it been five years? Six? It seems like a lifetime.
Another thing I find addictive is upgrading and unlocking new weapons. There's been quite a few awesome moments so far, usually to do with fire. At one point I had a group of 3 guys moving towards me where I was totally cornered. I peaked out from my cover and threw a molatov into the long grass infront of them. The wind carried the fire towards them and caused them to flee allowing me to shoot them in the back.

And is the AI as disturbing as in part one, where enemies spotted you already from very faaaar away?
the only tyrant I accept is my inner voice [and my two kids ;)]
I've read some comparisons with GTAIV, in the sense that is sort of a sandbox experience, and that you get a mission in point A...go to point B and execute it. But man, after 4h of play...There's nothing to do! Just drive a lot, kill dumb-as-fuck foes. Oh, every now and again you have to find a brief case with diamonds...Man, what's up with this latest trend in games? Assassins Creed, BIA, BF:BC...all seem to have it. Find all the ***** crates, where * is a random element. These developers crate these stunning environments and then they don't know what to do with them...
Again, coming back to the GTAIV comparison, farcry just falls flat again in terms of dialogs, characters, story. A few months away from having finished GTA, i still remember almost every character form that game, and their personalities, rich rich characters, delivering almost hollywood-type dialog... Here in farcry, you get in a safe house, find you "buddie" which is nothing but a 3D model of a person, deep down in the uncanny valley looking absentmindedly at the wall, delivering you poorly lipsynced dialog, tells you what your mission is, after which he starts doing something random...like doing push-ups. i go to sleep to save my game, only to wake up 6h after and find my "buddie" still...you guessed it...doing push ups. Oh man...maybe we were just spoiled by GTA?
Then drive for 5 min, go through 2 or 3 outpost, where 5 or 6 NPCs don't even move when i snipe one of their colleagues in the head, blood squirting everywhere. Then, as if magically, they are aware of my presence start screaming at each other, running backwards torward me while shooting in the opposite direction! Really, the AI is just that bad...
And after 4h wasted, that's all the game as to offer. Oh, and great graphics sure, beautiful vistas, that's undeniable. Other than that, just feels like a tech demo...
Now, I haven't played the game for well over a week, because COD has been keeping me busy again lately.. between CAL's league schedule and the WaW beta.. but last I played it, I was still having fun. It absolutely lacks purpose, but it handles well enough. While the missions are repetitive, the pay-off is in exploring the lush world (which you've only seen half of!). I don't think it's a bad game, but I'll admit that I worry that I will tire of the repetition quickly.
On the other hand, I purposefully haven't started Fallout 3 yet just because I wanted to finish this game, because I know it will ruin the illusion of interactivity Far Cry 2 has. There is no narrative to speak of, the characters are indeed dull, and the missions are all basically the same... set in a giant set piece that basically never changes. Cool things are bound to happen within the context of that world, but it probably isn't enough to drive most people through Far Cry's lengthy experience.
I still encourage people to try it for themselves.. because it is a unique experience.
Crysis is still way f'n better.

I am not into modern setting shooters, but I love the concept of being a freelance mercenary for once and not some army guy as most shooters out there.
Most of the things I have mentioned on the first post in this thread is awesome.
For example gunjamming in the middle of a fight or how you are connected to your avatar and how brutal it gets when it comes to firstaid animation, really puts you into the world.
The guns so far I have unlocked is AK and some other regular weapons you get in the very beginning.
One thing I noticed is whoever you choose to play as, the first guy you are gonna meet is different in a different location.
Considering you cant see your character except the hands and arms, I checked all the characters, and I noticed how different each intro for your first mission is, and not only that but you get different SPECIAL WEAPON.
One thing I dont like that many have stated is the enemy takes too much bullets even though they wear nothing but a t-shirt or something along those lines, headshots is important.
Now the aiming...its good and all, but I dont know, something doesnt feel right when you want to aim at a enemy and shoot...the weapons and the muzzleflash is right in the middle of the screen and blocks the enemy so you cant see much, thats my only complain in the shooting aspect.
Now I have done some missions for the gundealer, and did 2 missions for Marty and Paul is my friend.
The traveling stuff...I like it.
I mean there are diamonds you find along side the traveling (not fast traveling).
I found a few just by the cliffs and bushes...etc. so I dont mind driving around.
When it comes to traveling and checking out the spots it all takes patience and just good tactics on how to take each situation different to make it fresh.
Not only that, I want more action, so traveling gets you more in unexpected places with guarded spots.
I have played a entire day and feels like I have been playing for hours and hours and I have barely even started, which makes it not a short game which is very good.
I haven't touched MP side of the game, but I will probably go for it today.
In the end, I was hesitating on the game, some say its great and some say its boring, and I am not into modern setting games, but this is one game I really like.

Did I mention the mission are the same every time?
"Though I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil, for I am the evilest motherf*cker in the valley"
1. How is it that the enemy knows where you exactly are?
It's like you got tagged by one of them and all the enemies has GPS to track your precise location.
2. Travel distances are long, yes, but its both a good thing and bad.
Good: You will find diamonds, outposts, ammo...etc.
Bad: Enemy respawn (even though you took them out before), long distance missions. Long and boring drives.
3. The Multiplayer, well large maps, sniper bastards will come out of their caves to take you out!
The MP is pretty good to be honest. Sometimes its meh and sometimes when alot of people join and and has a nice flow to it and you are doing some killing and firstaid, its all good.
The loading is too long, but atleast it beats SOCOM Confrontation :P
One thing that is annoying is there is no melee attack.
A FPS without any melee. A attack with end of your gun would be nice.
And not being able to pick up your enemies or any weapon for that matter form the ground is dumb.
When one of your weapons ammo is done with no more clips, it should automatically change it to another weapon with ammo...changing with d-pad is annoying as hell.
Been times were my primary weapon was out and I was second late to change before the guy took me out!

If this is GTA clone, what do you call Crysis then?
No offence but stick with JRPGs.

Crysis got nano suit gameplay and weapon customization on the fly and FC2 got everything set down as realistic as possible.
*A New Form of Change*
I pretty much have no desire to go back to FC2 after playing Gears, Mirrors Edge and Dead Space. Those games are just so much more exciting and immediately enthralling. In Far Cry it felt as if the player had to role play in a sense and immerse themselve into the world for it to be fun.
