Comparing multiplats on consoles is pretty stupid. When everyone knows PC is the master race. lol.

As far as Ghost goes. The game is pretty bad on PC as well. Guru3d benchmark int the second chart which is little more than 1080P is not showing great performance as it should:http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/call_od_duty_vga_graphics_performance_benchmark,6.html

I think exclusives is the most important for consoles and specs too. Xbone or XO whatever people are calling it is trying to win living room for family. I think both will succeed but both have different goals.
Succeed? They're both likely to do EXTREMELY WELL when you consider that this is no longer a 3-way horse race. And as the XO comes down in price, Microsoft is very likely to pick up all of the casuals that Nintendo lost along the way.

I think alot of people (especially the doom and gloomers) are going to be surprised this generation.

Digital Foundry vs PS4 Launch Exclusives...

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-n...

They should have dropped the resolution on Killzone, at 720p, they most likely could have kept a rock solid 60fps in single player/multiplayer and it would look a lot better for it. ~45fps just isn't good enough for competitive MP, especially when it drops as low as 36fps.

Knack is just awful.

Resogun looks great, they layout/idea reminds me of Nights :D

Nothing is 720p on PS4 (except unpatched COD single player)

I think they did the right thing. This gen or should I say PS3/360 except cod which was also not constant. Everything else was 30fps locked. As long as gameplay is smooth which is the case, the fps number does not matter IMHO.

So you've been wasting your time with Halo for all of these years? They probably could have hit 1080p/60 anyway, had they made some other concessions. But that's not how console development works... ever.

Killzone is the most gorgeous game I've played and it looks absolutely sensational on my big ass 1080p LED TV. Not interested in dropping resolutions, haven't been bothered by the frame rate once yet.

Whatever AA technique they're using is amazing, you really have to search to find jaggies.

AC4 potentially not 1080p on the bone either. PS4 version ships at 900p. But will be patched to 1080p (i assume after the xbone version comes out)

These patched resolutions are a bit weird. But 1080p is 1080p.

FXAA is an ugly post-process AA effect that's cheap so people use it instead of good/real AA. It actually makes a lot of sense in the console space because it is super cheap.

Rivals:
A frame-rate analysis of Need for Speed: Rivals shows a commitment to delivering a locked 30fps - but with a catch. When under load, the Xbox One and PS4 versions suffer from a stuttering effect that gives the perceived effect of screen judder. Rather than being due to dropped frames, this is as a result of Rivals delivering 30 frames-per-second in an uneven order.
This is why G-Sync should happen everywhere. And about a decade ago. They're addressing the judder in a patch.. but true judder free gaming will soon be upon us <3

Well, we all knew these machines would struggle with 1080p, moreso the xbone. 1.2 TF and 1.8TF are 3+ year old PC equivalent mid-low range gpus that are already struggling with 1080p in the PC sphere and were always going to do the same in the consoles.

I laugh at all the talking heads saying they may be able to gain more resolution out of the xbone and in the same breath saying it doesnt matter anyway. If resolution didn't matter we'd all be watching dvd's and playing 3ds games upscaled on our tv's. The xbox isn't even a true 1.2TF part, its ddr3 RAM and 32mb ESRAM are massive bottlenecks that reduce its capability further from what a native PC GPU could do with dedicated GDDR RAM. They may be able to close the gap a little, but in the same time they eek more performance of the xbox they will gain performance from the PS4.

It has really annoyed me seeing how people are surprised at the performance differences, it's like they totally ignored the specs and what people were telling them when analysing them. Now they're relying on some magic and MS to break the laws of physics to close the gap.

So many games [mostly on XO] not fully 1080p really shows that dev's haven't had enough time to adjust to the last minute [software] changes that manufacturers did. Deadlines have always been a blessing and at the same time the death of creativity as well :D

DvD's still out sell Blu-rays, just saying.

3DS is pretty popular but the games looks like ass.

I agree with the majority of your post though, but fanboys will convince themselves that resolution doesn't matter and be happy with their purchase regardless.

Wasting my time? Nope, excluding Reach/ODST, I've loved every one. Does that make the framerate good enough? Hell No! 60fps should be mandatory for all competitive MP games.

Since this is a comparison

http://kotaku.com/installing-xbox-one-games-takes-...

Assassin's Creed IV:
Xbox One (offline, no update): 5 minutes 50 seconds
Xbox One (with update, fastest connection): 7 minutes 2 seconds
Xbox One (with update, 10Mbps connection): 10 minutes 32 seconds
PS4: 42 seconds

The rest of these were tested on our office Wi-Fi which is around 9-11Mbps. It may have been faster on a wired connection, but you can compare your own connection speed here. These are our results:P

Need For Speed Rivals:
XBO: 09:25 (including update)
PS4: 00:32

Just Dance 2014:
XBO: 08:48 (including update)
PS4: 00:45

NBA Live 14:
XBO: 16:26 (including update)
PS4: 00:35

FIFA 14:
XBO: 16:06 (including update)
PS4: 00:34

Madden 25:
XBO: 9:38 (including update)
PS4: 00:38

From what i understand, that chip is for lowpower/standby mode updates, not for installing games/patches during active use. http://www.officialplaystationmagazine.co.uk/2013/...

Regarding the install/time-to-start-playing, it sounds like microsoft needs do some rearranging there to cut down on the wait time.

A different question is how long it will take to start digital purchased. today, on 360 and ps3 i get about 3x the bandwidth from xbox live than from psn. dunno if this is the rule elsewhere, but it's the same with all my friends around here. Might just be poor support in my country/region. This could drastically impact digital purchases, especially with games as large as 40-50GB. I don't have psn+, so dunno if sony's got bandwidth allocation according to subscription level. Also, i don't have a xbox one or ps4 (they haven't even launched here yet), so it might be different on them.

it is different on them. PS4 PSN is reported to be a lot faster. as you would expect now it's a pay-for service.

In all, it's our first chance to see Battlefield 4's multiplayer mode in action on Xbox One, and to witness either version of the game running on final retail hardware. On the visual side, HBAO is indeed added to the Xbox One version, as promised by DICE following its omission in the Stockholm build. However, the divide in internal resolution - which remains at 900p on PS4 compared to the straight 720p on Xbox One - is the big sticking point, even with the removal of the Xbox version's sharpening filter which amplified the aliasing. Put simply, the assets and effects are identical for each next-gen platform, but the added pixel definition on PS4 spares it from the distracting edge-crawl on thin objects that proves to be an issue on the Microsoft side.

Elbowing into the tussle is, as always, the PC version with its higher-grade particle and alpha effects, superior object draw distance and more refined shadow detailing at ultra settings. But it must be commended just how much of this maxed-out experience translates to next-gen platforms. The textures on PS4 and Xbox One are equal to the PC's highest, and water shaders carry over as-is, where the current-gen versions really show us the plain, pared-back alternative. It's a very solid effort in this sense, and can only get better as DICE's understanding of the hardware grows.

The PS4's strong performance lead is the real clincher though; a wide 10fps margin flaring up for most of our campaign mode tests. The comedown hits, however, once you realise that neither platform can pull off a straight 60fps during the larger Conquest multiplayer maps, where most of the fun is to be had. Regardless, a clear-as-day recommendation still goes to the PS4 version, and while there are glitches on both consoles that need to be addressed, the embracing of seamless, behind-the-scenes updates should at least ease some of Battlefield 4's growing pains.

No shocker there. DICE obviously favors Sony platforms anyway. BF3 and Bad Company 2 were both superior on the PS3 by similar margins to that of next gen.

There are no surprises here but it has nothing to do with their preferred platform.

You also insisted that there would be no difference.. so that seems like it should be surprising to you.

And fwiw PS3 input lag wasn't addressed for nearly a year in BF3.. seems like a top priority :)
