A lot of the pro-circuit love the game, it's nice to see those who blindly swore against it actually playing it daily, only time will tell whether or not it has legs among the pro players, but for now 343 can rest easy knowing that as far as multiplayer goes they've done the franchise well.
Sponsorship and promotion goes very far in eSports. It probably has more to worry about on the casual scene. It should be fine.

Warzone is a lot more fun than I thought it would be, it's a nice chilled out mode when you want to kick back with a sniper and rack up a killtrocity while eating a sandwich.

The casual scene will leave the game in droves the way it is now. Warzone is super casual, but all the other playlists are ranked arena, there is no social playlist yet, or any other modes like Griffball or Ricochet which I imagine are coming when Forge and BtB hits; a super-gamble on 343's part that people will come back after COD and Battlefront.

Well call of duty is out this week so Halo's casual fans have already moved on. Halo's competitive scene will probably continue like it has since like.. Halo 3. Very niche, very passionate, very much irrelevant.

BF4 will be entering its third year soon. I like CS:GO, DirtyBomb, and UT too. Overwatch is my most anticipated game in the immediate future. There's a lot of variety (and a lot of trend hopping) in the genre. I'd say it's in pretty good shape.. with or without Halo.

Oh please, c'mon - Halo 5's multiplayer is almost perfect. Warzone mode is so balanced and fun, it's a real testament to 343i. Hope they release more maps soon, only 3 Warzone maps so far...

AND no hitches, lags, server-issues from day one. Absolute rarity these days...

Overwatch looks promising though, although the cutesy art-direction really kills it for me...

Warzone is the last reason I'd play Halo 5, but have fun with it. No one told you not to.

It's multiplayer-only too. And Overwatch's art direction kills Halo's :P

And those are just the games I'm currently juggling in one way or another. My point is that the genre offers a lot of healthy choices. Beyond that short list there is a pretty diverse range of choices out there for gamers interested in FPS games.

There's a budding F2P scene that's delivered multiple compelling games already, and will welcome additional titles in the next year. There are compelling sims from the infantry focused Insurgency to the total sandbox ArmA. There's Planetside and Battlefield. There's the king of FPS in CS:GO. There's basically something for everyone. No one is getting the most out of all of them. It's impossible.. so enjoy what you want to play. Even if it's Call of Duty.

I still think it looks better than Halo 4 anyway. It's not like I've been bashing Halo 5.

Halo 5 is really fun, but the reality is there are plenty of other shooters out there that are as good, or better. The FPS market is crazy competitive right now. Doesn't sound like he's dissing halo at all, just stating there are more compelling shooters out that hes more interested in. Overwatch looks far more interesting to me because its actually doing something new, but I can't freaking get into the dumb beta to save my life. WHY BLIZZARD?! BLIZZARD PLZ

What about it? Do you have an informed opinion on the F2P scene? What's your opinion on Unreal Tournament 4? DirtyBomb? Planetside? The F2P scene is delivering better games than you think. Until recently it was assumed that Overwatch would be counted among them.

But even without Overwatch, stuff like UT holds a lot of promise.

No it's not. An FPS fan who doesn't play on PC is missing out on a lot more.

Personally I don't get the hate for the Promethean weapons, some of them are totally awesome. Still playing a lot of MP, also getting better with the magnum, but I love my Warzone SMG from lvl.4 on in this mode. The REQ packs are a fantastic addition, motivation is very high. And I have only scratched the surface with my unlocks so far.

Only complaint, 3 warzone maps is not enough. I hope some new ones are coming before the end of the year...

Since last major update I cant play multiplayer & solo campaign loads and then crashes to home

Now this really could be the answer for gamers like me who are going all digital this gen. We don't have any of the extras that come with limited and collector's editions. If we could unlock 3D printed collectibles and have them sent to us that would really be worthwhile.

Might even create a new kind of value through in-game achievements.
