It's weird. They created a HUD that wasted space on the vertical FOV and raised the reticle to the center line, which just wastes even more of the cramped FOV. I think the game looks much better than Halo 4 on the whole (the game, not the graphics), but the camera and HUD treatment is a step backwards.

Finished the campaign on heroic yesterday, it took me 15h 42m. Some of the boss-fights took me a while because my squad was dying a lot, but it could have been me, because I didn't tell them where to go constantly ;)

So guys breezing through it in 4 hours clearly must play it on normal. And who plays Halo on normal? It's an unwritten law to play it on at least heroic...

Will try MP tonight, but of course I will get my ass kicked severly.

normal is typically the difficulty a game is actually designed around. in terms of balanced enemy encounters and damage etc. anything higher or lower are just modifiers on that base level. it's kinda why it's called normal lol. personally i play halo on legendary.

Halo veterans know to play it at least on heroic, has always been that way.

If you do play it on legendary in solo, have fun at the boss-fights Korn. In those moments, you cannot rely on your squad. Especially at the end of Mission 14.

Is it harder then the previous games on legendary? Those were fine solo.

I just have played one on legendary, so I cannot say. I cannot even recall which one it was...hahahaha.

Most of my personal friends have PS4's, only two close friends have an Xbox One. None of them bought Halo so far, I wouldn't play it solo on legendary, just don't have the time anymore sadly...

But I enjoyed it a lot on heroic, it was very action-packed most of the time. I also think the GFX are very good for 60 fps. It really plays very well. Didn't recognize the resolution switching once, because the action is so frantic. Just witnessed some weird body-animation frame drops during cut-scenes, when the squad walked further into the screen and got smaller.

I've noticed the frame rate distance thing on enemies a few times so far, its definitely weird looking.

I don't get people, most on the net say the campaign is shit. IMO it's good, not great... what ratings will SW Battlefront get - a 6 because it has no campaign?

This is the most fun multiplayer I had in years! [including Titanfall ;)]... Warzone is truly amazing!

Different games with different goals. The campaign is part of Halo's package.

That's not rational.

That warzone mode is really amazing. Been playing for a few days now, had a friend over a couple of times and he is blown away. He holds records on GTA5 and Dying Light on PS4 and is a really a good FPS player. We enjoy it very much. He even wants to buy an XO now - this game is indeed a system-seller.

And those REQ packs are very fun. I now have a SMG I can only use at level 6+ during warzone and it's really badass. Still love my Magnum, need to aim better for the head though ... hahahaha

that gave me a good chuckle lol

although i do expect xbone to be the #1 selling system for this months NPD at least. with tomb raider lurking and halo 5 released, if it doesnt win that month i think it's safe to say they won't be winning much after that point.

Btw, the AI on warzone is pretty good. Unlike Titanfall, computer controlled enemies are not cannon-fodder. In fact, I have been eliminated by an AI Marine-Soldier [lowest AI form] a couple of times, while storming an enemy base.

AI bosses are a different thing though. But it's so sweet to come to an AI controlled Warden boss, where an enemy-teamplayer has it's health down 90% and it's you that does the final shot - all 150 Warzone points (takes a 1.000 to win) go to you and your team. ;)

Fantastic game, so well balanced!

Tomb raider's effect will be seen in The November sales (released by NPD in Dec). I expect XboxOne to outsell PS4 this Christmas in the US actually over November/December. October, I am not too sure as Halo released on Oct 27th.

I know it's D.I.C.E., so a personal thing for you. But above it all, both are multiplayer shooters in the end. And Star Wars only has no campaign because it's a movie cash-in. I know about the surveys from D.I.C.E. saying gamers do not want a campaign - this is clearly BS. Which movie-franchise would be as perfectly fitted for a campaign as this one? Reviewers should be fair about that IMO.

Nope. I'm not even buying SWBF.

No they're not. The campaign is a huge part of Halo's history. It's what they're selling to you.

There's nothing inherently wrong with multiplayer-only games. I wish Battlefield were still MP-only.
Reviewers should be fair about that IMO.
SWBF hasn't even been reviewed yet. How are they being unfair at all? I bet this very issue comes up in several reviews. And it's not like Halo 5 reviewed that poorly. Poor for Halo? Sure, but an 85% meta-score isn't "bad."

Take it up with TitanFall instead.

its certainly the only reason i buy halo games (since doc seems to like anecdotal evidence :P) and it's the only reason I've kept hold of halo 5 in the bundle i bought. but knowing it's a shit and short campaign compared to previous outtings definitely hurts the overall package for me. the lack of split-screen doesn't help either.

Ughhh. NPD's. Boring!

I think 343 have done a fantastic job with this game. Single player is not as strong as it could have been, the whole "HuntTheTruth" was a very poor mask for Cortana's reveal. I felt Halo 4 had the stronger campaign narrative, but the Halo 5 one played much better. As far as campaign moments go? 343 had some real chances to top Dual Scarabs from Halo 3, but I feel that the lack of creative design failed them here. I can only think of 2 stand out moments in the campaign, one had me excited but was far too short, and the other had me laughing unexpectedly.

Multiplayer is a great hybrid of the old and the new aspects of Halo, and I feel this is where a lot of 343's efforts went, what the campaign lacked in cohesive narrative, the multiplayer makes up for in what I think is the best Halo multiplayer since Halo 2. After playing it for a week I now realise that I need to update my set up because the skill gap in Arena is so real (barring Warzone), every second counts and after playing twitch shooters like BF, COD and Destiny for so long, Halo has made me realised that I just have good reactions, but am very average when it comes to strafing and actually dodging and aiming in a shoot-out that goes beyond 2 seconds, a problem I'll begin resolving starting with a gaming monitor instead of a lagoless HDTV.

Once again maps are the biggest downfall of multiplayer here. While nowhere near as bad as Halo 4's map selection, it simply cannot touch the god-like rotation of Lockout, Ascension, Ivory Tower, Midship, Lockout, Lockout, Lockout, Lockout, Zanzibar, though, no Halo ever has and I doubt any Halo ever will. That being said, 343 have 4 good original maps instead of the one this time around.

Warzone is a lot more fun than I thought it would be, it's a nice chilled out mode when you want to kick back with a sniper and rack up a killtrocity while eating a sandwich. No desire to buy REQ packs, or even engage in microtransactions, but seeing as 343 just upped the Halo Championship Series prize pool by 500k, I guess there are enough people who see the value in it that they don't need my cash at all.

Overall, I am really enjoying the game, the campaign is just ok, they introduced a bunch of abilities, but forgot to bring the encounters up to speed (there's only so many walls I can Spartan Charge through before I begin to wonder what the point is). The multiplayer is hard, but rewarding as I try and find new ways to out-strafe an Assault Rifle toting maniac.

A lot of the pro-circuit love the game (I guess a prize pool of 1.5M would make any one love a game), it's nice to see those who blindly swore against it actually playing it daily, only time will tell whether or not it has legs among the pro players, but for now 343 can rest easy knowing that as far as multiplayer goes they've done the franchise well.
