New Forza 2 thread - UPDATE 4 New Screens from IGN.

I don't expect Forza 2 to be overwhelmed by PGR4 in terms of gameplay--but visually--it's hard to imagine the PGR team wouldn't surpass what we've seen so far.

I definitely expect PGR4 to overwhelm Forza 2 gameplay wise.

I expect them to further develop and polish the cockpit view and how the camera reacts to physics when you're in the car to make it that much more immersive.

I also expect it to look much better than Forza 2...

I reckon forza 2 will look much better than it does now by the time it is released. Remember that the graphics of the original forza improved so much in the last month of its development, i remember reading an article on ign and them saying something along the lines of "the forza team must have had some secret red button which has made everything look much better than it did before"
Just wait, i still have faith in forza's graphics, and we all know the gameplay will kick ass again.

These are excellent shots -- perfect example of how to properly pimp your game. What makes them stand out IMO

1. The backgrounds are blurred, which is not out of place with a car shot but also remove any elements that destroy the integrity of the shot.

2. The cars are very detailed and are beautiful (and have some nice camera angles to show them off too boot!)

3. They have been able to capture the perfect level of color and saturation. The red car doesn't look like a red poly box with effects on it, but it looks like a read car. It isn't cartoony or overly gritty. The colors are spot on + the lighting and reflections are perfectly balanced off the car models. They just are not just slapped up there to say "we have reflections!" but obviously have been carefully crafted together to get a great result.

The bad news... this isn't Forza Motorsport 2. :| I don't have $600...

Anyhow, I was watching the FM2 movie last night (well, one of them) and I noticed they had a trailer cam that was "rough" on the road. I hope this makes it into the game :D I also like the CGI look of the FM2 video and hope they can capture that (or a more realistic look) in the final version. I don't mind the "Cars" like stylistic surrealism if the quality is really high and everything is balanced. FM2 right now, from the little we have seen, have either been very bland/boring or "toy" like. I thought PGR3 and GTHD (what we have seen) have BOTH done a great job of staking a claim on a "STYLE!" and then going with it. FM2, not so much.

A lot has changed though and I am excited to see how this turns out. FM1 was a killer game. Kind of sad it only sold 1M units considering it had everything I wish GT had (better AI, online, damage modeling).

I was about to say Acert...uhh--that's GT:HD!

It is looking quite nice though, and a downloadable demo before Christmas too. Sounds like they're more or less dropping GT:HD as quickly as possible to get to work on the real deal.

I like the palette there a lot, very nice attempt at a pretty realistic light model. Doesn't look as good as F1:CE though.

The cars look spectacular, photo realistic, i think the biggest difference here, is the colour pallete and lighting, its just perfect, on Forza its too vibrant which makes it have that cartoon/plastic look.

GT: HD/5 cars do look great, Its just a pity the backgrounds look like a PS2 game, it seems the backgrounds took a big hit just to make the cars look this good.

Two things, Forza has car damage which is a huge deal. 2ndcondly, so far most gt movies and demos involve 1 car on track... last but not least, i remmber Gundam looked really nice on the PS3 and we all know how well that turned up. why would you post screens of GT on a forza thread, when both games come out, well have a forza vs gt thread... then we can properly compare(the way we could compare, lets say Forza and GT4... id say thats an easy choice).

Forza2 will have not just cars but also backgrounds; something that gthd is seriously missing. Like they pumped every pixel in the car and forget everything else.

Anyway it wont be long, in january.

Yeah, I'll give the PS3 kudso in the GrandTurismo Category, they have a real looker on their hands. They have set the bar, hopefully Forza 2 can reach it or surpass it. I'll just be thankful if they match it. (With all of the other things Forza2 will have going for it like custom paint/decals and damage, and if it can look like GTHD then we will all have a winner on 360)

Motorstorm is looking very good too. Good for the Sony Fanboys. I'm jealous, but I read an article on IGN about the Japanese version of Motorstorm and they say it looks and plays great but is lackluster in features racetypes/options/online play.

I'm hoping we see great things out of Colin McRae Dirt. Hopefully some gameplay footage early in 2K7.

I think they rushed Motorstorm for the Japan launch. No idea why, it's an impressive game but not really a "Japan" game. I don't see how 3 months extra there would have done them any harm.

I played motorstorm and its ok, its no graphic showcase. and the fact that bikes cars and trucks all feel like mario kart doesnt give it points either.

GTHD looks jaw-dropping. Are you people seeing what I'm seeing? That's right, fully modeled interiors!!!

That adds SO MUCH to the look of the game. It looks impressive and puts Forza HD to shame, in terms of everything else but environment which Forza wins. Damn, PD is impressive.

Yea its called gameplay. and in replay they can tweak everything to make it look better. Aside from the car models, the 2D backdrop environments, and the textures look horrendous.

Guys, that is a reworked PS2 level from the original, now cancelled, GT HD which was the new cars basically on PS2 levels. It is now a free download and they are working on GT 5 Preview.

Yeah the world is ick, but the cars are sick!

Where was all this hate when FM2 lacked a ton of features + ran like ick?

Anyhow, the thing that stands out with GT are the car models. What we have seen of FM2 is a lot of mixed bag IMO. The cars especially so far (so far...). The GT cars above are just absolutely beautiful. Put those in FM2 please! :D
