It was always bound to look good with nice character design and great artists. There's a difference in design philosophy here aswell, in regards to how important personality and subtlety in characters is.

bah, no it's not suppose to be. When I open the link in Firefox I get the Last Remnant scan, but open it in IE, I get the Sarah Silverman picture...weird :P

Well it IS UE3 :P

But on a more serious note, I wouldn't rule out the possibility that it IS something of a counter to Mistwalker's outing, sort of capitalizing on the same idea a bit. Descriptions of the combat sound eerily alike.

I hope to god the character "developed for a western audience" isn't on the 360 as default and the other on PS3. They better give us a choice or I'll....... I'll... Buy the PS3 version but I'll be yelling and causing a scene!

The reason I would be miffed is if choice is taken away and the assumption is made that everyone who owns a 360 would automatically not like the anime'ish character, but I suppose thinking of others is overrated.

I'll just grab the PS3 version and comfort any of my 360-only owning friends who wanna play with that character by saying "the western one is the better one anyway". Then maybe slap them around a bit until they change their opinion.

It doesn't work like this. Everyone (JP and US) will get the same game. The main character at first is the Japan-centric one, then as the story goes along more focus is put on the Western character.

Actually the word is that you'll get to pick between them.

Rush for japanese audiences, and The Conqueror for western ones.

The Conqueror is supposedly a darker, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, anti-hero type character, whereas Rush is more adventurous and heroic.

The Last Remnant lets you choose between two characters: Rush, a more traditional Square Enix character, and The Conquerer, who Takai describes as "a type of dark hero which is a first for a [Square Enix] RPG"

Sounds pretty choicy to me.
