And it's my understanding it's quite a bit more expensive over there.

UK Pricing for both (exchange rates constantly shift, so approx conversion).

Xbox One £429 = $667

PS4 £350 = $544

However as stated by Sony the PS4 camera is not included. But the Xbox One won't include a headset. It remains to be seen if these will necessities that end up bumping up the price for each.

The MS Conf was great, one of the best i've seen in a long while, there were a number of exclusives that will make me pick it up, but the ps4 at $399 will mean its added also.

I'm personally really happy the PS4 is at such an amazing price. Sony has been so on point in so many different ways, a huge part of you wants to see them do well, and it's good for gaming in general. My personal belief is that neither of the two consoles will significantly underperform, thus leading to some significant reversal in policy next time. I think they will both perform quite well and end up being pretty well established, and what is now largely seen as controversial, will become the norm.

Well Microsoft proved that their hardware is great and should perform quite well this generation. The problem of course is that priced themselves out the reach of both demographic groups they want to reach. Sony's machine is cheaper, more powerful, and has none of the X1's restrictions. The X1 has Kinect, something that was designed to directly appeal to the casuals and mediaphiles but at a $500 price point it's something that they won't adopt until the price comes down about $100 or more. Just as they adopted late last in the last generation, they may not move on X1 for a couple of years.

In the meantime, Microsoft needs gamers to drive sales. But unlike the previous generation, this time they are ones coming in at a higher price and with unpopular DRM policies as well. I know it would be a humbling admission, but Microsoft can still do the right thing and abandon this. There's nothing wrong with correcting a mistake, gamers would applaud them for doing so.

Well so FAR its only on Xbox, and until Capcom comes out and says otherwise (hopefully) i think the headline should be there.
Remove Titan Fall though since people cna get it on 360 AND PC so its not exclusive and something to go "wow" for.

Actually I thought Titan Fall looked pretty damn good for a Source engine game. Since I also game on PC I never split hairs over desktop and console exclusivity. Since it's not coming out for any other console platform, Microsoft can safely declare it in their camp. A game that can't be purchased on PS4 or the WiiU can be considered an exclusive, the PC version doesn't change that.

I don't really understand how people are still going to defend the thing. The best defense of Microsoft's policies (and a poor argument, anyway) has always been: It's okay, because Sony is going to do it too.

Well now what? I guess if you're Optimus you just celebrate the ignorance of your average consumer.

You can defend the console itself as a good piece of hardware (we hope) with a ton of games coming for it. You can't defend their policies, they fucked up real bad there.

The beauty of it for Microsoft is the casual consumer will probably have no idea what about any of this and buy it anyways

They will know about it, word of mouth is what built Xbox's popularity up and it could very easily be its undoing, not to mention the news is already running stories of how PS4 has trumped Xbox One, people do read the news still ya know.

Lets not forget price is a massive influence on buying things like consoles, especially for parents who want the latest christmas present.

You should stop with the "Sony is doing it too!" deflections. They stopped working when it turned out that Sony isn't doing it too. This was the DRM deflection. This was the kinect deflection. Those were always shitty excuses and poor arguments. Now they just don't make any sense at all.

Yeah, I don't really see an issue with talking about games as console exclusives even if they are on PC. I always just assume it's also on PC unless it's from a first party developer. And I mean, the really heated talk of exclusives is because of the console "war"...the PC isn't really relevant to it(though I'm not saying the PC is irrelevant in general).

But yeah, MS fucked up hard. I'm more than likely jumping ship and getting a PS4.
