It wouldn't surprise me if we didn't get much more detail at all. However, we'll start to care much less about the specs once we start seeing some games.

Microsoft and Sony always play this specs game, so if it's truly the case that Sony has them edged in specific areas, I don't think they'll want to talk about those things. Instead they'll attempt to show through services, features and games that the specs are more or less irrelevant, even though we know they aren't exactly. It's good to have a nice ballpark of what a system might be capable of, to help inspire confidence about the potential for the platform, but, with that said, I'm sure they feel they're within reasonable range of the PS4, and that more or less likely fits with their desire to be seen as comparable enough in power while seeking to separate themselves in other ways.

i love halo, one of very few franchises that gets me excited like a little kid at xmas, but i dont think even that is enough to get me interested in there new machcine (specially after mp of last one) they have gone such a boring and terrible route

yeah we not seen anything on it yet but we know enough of ms strategys to pretty much guess what is in store. 4 new ips yah... racing shooting or/and kinect junk

Theres no doubt that MS is ending this gen with very few exclusives (but the few they have i happen to enjoy so will def get the next xbox), but they started it with loads of new IP's most of which drew me back into gaming, so i hope this next gen we get a few new gems again from them, i'll also get a ps4 at some point when i see a game for it i actually want to play, seen nothing thus far though.

COD and condemned (and the fact the 360 was first to market) got me to buy a 360, but without a significant head start that won't happen for me next gen. No way would i buy a 720 based on some multiplatform releases...

They need games (plural) that are awesome and that are brand new. Something we can really get excited about, that potentially arn't all shooters. Then i'll maybe pick it up. One game wont cut it for me though, much like it wasn't enough for me to buy the wii-u for zombiu, despite it looking really good. it needs a few great games to keep us busy in that initial half year/year where very few titles get released.

That's very much the same for me, plus all my online mates are on Live, i'll end up getting both but the next xbox will be first, as i'll also wait until a new IP from the ps4 interest me enough to buy one.

Most of my friends are on Live as well but that's not the main reason i'm getting the next xbox, as i said the few exclusives they have i really enjoy playing so getting the next xbox is a given, i'll get the ps4 when i see an IP that gets me really excited like i did with the ps3 last gen (MGS and FFVerses).

To be honest, I've always been one of those gamers that are much more heavily drawn towards third party releases, and not so much true first party exclusives. There's no way I plan on missing Halo 5, because I enjoyed Halo 4 way too damn much, but this excitement over Halo is a new thing for me. About a year and a half into the life of the 360, I still hadn't even played Halo CE all the way through. But beyond that, I've always been a gamer that went after big and small third party releases.

I've rarely been all that excited about major first party releases till about this gen. What really changed this for me was Microsoft announcing Blue dragon and Lost odyssey so early before the 360 was out. If those games don't get announced, I don't buy a 360, period. I would just own a PS3, which, ironically, I primarily bought for FF7 remake and Versus 13 (ouch I know). So once those games got me onboard the 360, I naturally then started looking for what else might interest me, and once Peter Moore showcased that GTA tattoo on his arm, that was all she wrote. As far as I was concerned, the 360 purchase was more than vindicated.

What always validated a playstation over any other console, to me, wasn't the first party releases, it was the sheer variety of games and especially the monstrous third party releases. That's what made the 360 so attractive this time around. Some people look at games like ultimate ninja storm and think it holds no value at all, but it's a tremendous comfort to know that a console has a little bit of everything for all kinds of gamers. Indeed, if not for Halo 5, I would have no meaningful desire to want the next xbox, because everything else that i'm interested will be on the ps4, and I was never really all that tied to xbox live to begin with.

If Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey sequels are announced, however, then we are in new territory.

Microsoft has spent $4 Billion Dollars on R&D for it's Xbox Division (over $900 Milllion of that in the last quarter alone), hired nearly the entire IBM SoC team (we're talking about some of the most renown and world class engineers in that field), joined the Hybrid Memory Cube Consortium (a HMC unit provides 15X the bandwidth and 70% less energy than DDR3), had numerous projects running at AMD since 2010, and filed several patents for technologies and applications stated to be used in a next-gen gaming platform.

Would they do all of that just to deliver a console with garden variety specs like those seen in the leaks? Join a partnership that has technology specifically suited to console gaming needs, and then NOT use it? Gather the equivalent of rock stars in the field of SoC engineering at the Xbox Division in Redmond just to create custom blocks for Jaguar and have them sign off on a 6670? These people are individually responsible for the filing of more cutting edge patents in technology than most tech companies combined.................and Durango was the best they could come up with?

Well when you put it like that no, but that leak was from a yr old dev kit that would have been designed by the very same IBM guys you mentioned above right?, so i dont think they would have changed it much in a year? (i could be wrong), i remeber that HMC memory stuff but i'm thinking its still not ready for mass usage yet?, still sounds like a great system and the devs are putting them game design wise pretty close with the PS4 but there is still so much we dont no yet about the 720?

I really do not think there will be much difference between the two machines, i reckon power wise they will be identical to the point of buying one is not based on the most powerful but what is the most important part..the games.

And that's where MS will fail, there lack of studios and exclusives renders them useless especially if you own a pc.

Unless the silicon problems are still happening, i think they will def launch this year, but i guess we will see?Not really its all about the games you WANT to play and platform you favour, thoes that want to play your Forza's/Halo/Gears ect.. will still get the 720 and thoes that want the GOW/Uncharted/Killzone ect.. will get the PS4, and with each new gen both consoles will have new IP's and again which ever one appeals to you, you will go with.

I get What Black is saying, if you like thoes exclusives your going to get that console same for the ps3 ones, just because you have more games means nothing really if you dont like them, i mean EA pump out loads of games and i only really like Mass Effect, the CD Project guys pump out one game every 3 years and i love each game they release, so its all down to what games you actually enjoy playing and would fork out your money for.

I want them to make more new exciting IPs honestly i do, i want in april/E3 for them to show off fucking LOADS of sexual new shit appealing to all gamers all over the world so we can all do a gay ass slow mo jump together and high five..aint going to happen though.

I want new IP'S too trust me!!, but I’m betting we wont see jack shit in April, just like the PS4 1st reveal showed KillZone, i expect a known franchise to be shown by MS, and hopefully with E3 both companies to show or at least announce some new exciting IP's. But the franchises MS have i love so its a no brainer to get the next xbox for me, but just like last gen i want new fresh IP's from both companies.

No doubt i will get both, but MS has no chance of seeing me on launch day..

Unless the chief comes out.. all lathered up ready for launch, with fixed MP with ALL classic maps and dumping all maps that appeared in 4..

I'm the oppersite, the PS4 wont see me on launch until a game i actually care about comes out (KillZone is not that game :) ), launches are going to be Multiplat heavy with one or 2 big known frachises from each i'm guessing?, its always been that way, i'm just so glad the Nextgen has started, it's about bloody time, now i can dream of next-gen Mass Effects\Skyrims\Witchers\Halo's\Metal Gear Solids\Forza's ect... Mmmmmmmmmmmmm
