Yea I think Ryse is going to alienate a lot of people. We'll see. Forza is really the only thing mentioned that will pique my interest..

But Crytek w/ some powerful hardware can turn some heads regardless.

I doubt you'll be able to turn it off, as Kinect apparently comes with every single system. That said, I don't mind mandatory Kinect stuff if it's done well enough, is done sparingly enough, and they take into consideration that gamers simply have far more superior control over a game with a normal controller and don't want to have to be standing to properly make use of Kinect. Gamers have spent years working on their perfectly toned bodies, we don't want some forced exercise disguised as a videogame threatening that.

Oh yea, Forza should be interesting. The thing that interests me most is that family game that they claim has Pixar style graphics, though. I want to know what kind of game it is. I wonder if it's one of those fantasy/magic style games with lots of colors that I like. Hopefully it's not some interactive vacation with the family in Hawaii crap.

VGleaks (as I always knew they would) are carefully walking back from their earlier claims Suddenly used games are IN, BC is there for the gamer who just can't live without it, and it looks like the "always on" speculation is turning out to have been completely misunderstood. And this is just the beginning, I predict that they're going to soon cover their asses from their own interpretation of the hardware specs. Look at what VGLeaks is NOW saying-

The "stackable" rumors are bullshit. The next Xbox will have this same SoC in the box (thus the dual APU rumors). It will be a dual SoC system.

The "mini" unit will play Xbox 360 games (no disk drive like it's competitors) and share a "pared down" version of the new dashboard.

Both units will be marketed under the same Xbox "Next" brand.

Also, VGLeaks updated their information to match the info I was given (posted earlier in this thread). Xbox "Next" Mini is a standalone device. They still haven't picked up that the "Durango" is the deluxe model that contains the next gen hardware along with the SoC in the Mini.

A device that is price competitive with Apple TV and Roku and can also play full fledged Xbox 360 games does sound like a winner. Barriers to services such as Netflix would need to be removed, however. That policy where you pay for Xbox Live Gold to gain access to Netflix on the 360 simply will not do, and would only serve to weaken the new device.

I'm just surprised that for such bad games, or better yet, games that a lot of people such as myself and most other gamers here just wouldn't be interested in, that they managed to sell so strongly.

I knew Kinect units themselves were selling, but I generally believed the software picture, besides dance central, was pretty bad all around.

I did buy a few of those games for family members and nephews though, but damn.

Nah, just fired for embarrassing the company and insulting potential customers. I don't think he necessarily confirmed anything. What he did was just really stupid for someone in his position. And I'm not so sure about that Crytek game...

You cannot get sacked from a job for behaving like a d!ck about always online for a console. But can get sacked for intentionally or unintentionally giving out information or even misinformation about the product. Tink they are going to loose many people if online gaming is not free.

It's less about why he got fired, any number of things could have done that. More the question of why he got so defensive in the first place to even respond to, what at the time, where just rumours. I think that's pretty telling.

How did this happen? It’s a classic case of the social media illusion of security. Orth was really just having a conversation with his friend, Bioware’s Manveer Heir, and they both forgot for a moment that they were high-ranking employees at heavily scrutinized companies. Like the random person who complains about their boss on Facebook while forgetting that they are actually friends with that boss, Orth just forgot that people might be listening.

When I have a conversation with someone I use the @TwitterName. I don't just Tweet something to my 2,000 followers and expect them to read it. He was griping about gamers being critical of his project in a public setting. He just made it worse by having inside jokes with his friend after making those remarks.

Not the first time he's gotten in hot water either. At Sony he publicly blasted Halo 3 and Xbox fans and got in trouble for it, being forced out of Sony as well. Adam Orth was a troll and a tool. That doesn't mean Always Online DRM isn't a problem.

He had an opinion he wanted to get out there, and in the process of expressing that opinion, he was embarrassing the company he was working for, and also clearly crossing the line into the realm of insulting potential customers. Even if this is precisely what Microsoft intended on doing, and he was, by extension, defending those plans, no way in hell he gets fired for defending the concept of always online DRM. It's the silly and unprofessional, and even bordering on disrespectful, way he did it that got him fired.

He has a history of doing/saying dumb shit. People on gaf were also saying that he made some weird ass thread on the forum where he was talking about "dolphin porn" or some nonsense like that and they linked to it. Considering the position he is in, he apparently doesn't know that if he's going to be saying anything at all, especially if controversial, that he is best served doing so with caution and care, and by maintaining anonymity. For example, 343 employees commented on the next gen xbox, and did so well before this guy did anything, which GAF also picked up on, but there was no shitstorm on this level over any of it, why? Because the 343 employees expressed their opinions without saying anything remotely controversial, disrespectful, and they certainly didn't embarrass the company the way this guy did. And if gaf likes you, you can say just about anything and get away with it, like when david jaffe insulted a poster, telling him how dry his mother's pussy was last night, and then GAF literally cheered him on. I thought the poster got what he deserved, but selective outrage is an interesting thing.
