Are you people really that short?
So Microsoft isn't allowed to talk about and market Kinect or any of the functions that they built into their console? Microsoft isn't allowed to have timed DLC or exclusives? Microsoft isn't allowed to show teasers or showcase popular multiplatform titles at their press conferences? Titles that move their hardware off the shelves?
So it's always Microsoft better not talk about Kinect OR ELSE!
Microsoft better not block used games or I'm going back to PC and Steam where they have used........uh....no....wait.
Microsoft better not make me have an internet connection or else I'm going to go to PC/PS4 where my games will never need an internet connection.
Microsoft better not make me watch TV, because if they do I'm never going to watch TV again!
It's clear that many of you have decided to join the the chorus of boos, but the noise is so loud that no one even questions what they're even yelling about. These added functions are not going to be the end of core gaming on Xbox. They are merely conveniences that most gamers will come to appreciate over time. But if you've already made up your mind that TV and Kinect is the end of all things, I doubt very seriously if there is anything Microsoft could show you at E3 in a couple of weeks.

They've been shouting from the rooftops since before this event happened that E3 is all about games. They at least deserve a chance to back that up is how a lot of people are looking at it. It's not so much trying hard to like Xbox. It's trying to keep an open mind and not condemn the thing too early based on information not yet finalized by Microsoft's own words. Even those who are totally disappointed by what they saw and are now completely dead set against the system, at least until it proves itself, have to admit that there is a TON of misinformation and confusion all around. And, yes, Microsoft plays the biggest role in that confusion and misinformation. By not nipping this whole thing in the bud during the event, it could be seen as something they brought on themselves, and I can't disagree with that.

We need more. Supposedly they're bringing it at E3. But they've got a lot of ground to make up.

Imagine neither reveal showed any games, teasers or stage demo's. no quantum break, no forza, no cod, no watchdogs, no killzone, no infamous. It was literally a show about each companies focus, each companies features, each companies priorities.
You end up with one reveal that boiled down to TV and sports with very little to no mention of games
Whereas the other, was still focused exclusively on games. info and features like self publishing, remote play to vita and PS4, recording and sharing footage, streaming via gaikai, watching friends via the cloud, assuming control via cloud, tech demo's related to physics and gaming, specs and a focus on performance. Playing as you download...
It isn't even about who showed how many games, it's about everything else. And MS fucked up. Can they redeem themselves? Maybe. But it's going to take a hell of an effort.

Microsoft never had the luxury of this moving target. With multimedia such a core focus for its hardware, it set out to support 8GB of RAM from day one (at the time giving it a huge advantage over the early PS4 target RAM spec) and with serious volume of next-gen DDR4 unattainable in the time window, it zeroed in on supporting DDR3 and doing whatever was necessary to make that work on a console. The result is a complex architecture - 32MB of ESRAM is added to the processor die, along with "data move engines" to courier information around the system as quickly as possible with bespoke encode/decode hardware to alleviate common bottlenecks. Bottom line: if you're wondering why Xbox One has a weaker GPU than PlayStation 4, it's because both platform holders have similar silicon budgets for the main processor - Sony has used the die-space for additional compute units and ROPs (32 vs. 16 in One), while Microsoft has budgeted for ESRAM and data move engines instead. From the Xbox perspective, it's just unfortunate for Microsoft that Sony's gamble paid off - right up until the wire, it was confident of shipping with twice the amount of RAM as PlayStation 4.

Inscrit depuis 8274 JoursIt might be close on hardware, but PS4, will for sure have the upper hand this time. Last gen PS4 said they had better hardware, but it was never really proven graphically.
Now they have such similar architecture, I think it will be a clearer cut that Sony is top dog in hardware. That said, multiplatform developers will work towards lowest common denominator,
and might not matter that much in the long run.
But that is one of the truest statements I've seen. Their "silence" spoke volumes on hardware specs.
Inscrit depuis 7469 JoursBut the key point here is so one console is stronger. It doesn't make the console with less impressive hardware incapable of having great games.
