I suppose I'm the only one not impressed by the new Forza looks?

That said, the more I read the more disappointed I am with Xbox one so far. The used games, and constant online checking is just pathetic. For multi-console owners, the choice will be easy for multiplatform games (95% nowadays). Do I get it for PS4 and just let the damn game be a game, or do I get it for the Xbox one, link it to my account, and not be able to play because I may just not have internet access for *whatever* reason.

I know smaller markets in the rest of the americas will have an easy choice, where a reliable internet connection, or the ability to have an internet connection(!) is not even imaginable. Seriously, it's all freaking nonsense. I just can't think MS can be that dumb, and they are not really seeing all the implications.

Like all consoles in the past, this one will get hacked, and pirated software will happen--why the fuck go through the hassle of all this bullshit? Do they really think they found a "solution" with what they came up with?

Honestly racing games can only look but so much better. The cars are at their peak, the environments and visual effects will make the most improvements at this stage. I'm sure most visual differences will be live and in motion rather than screens.

Yep, in motion on your HDTV :)

I can also see that racing games have hit a point where so much is usually done right that it's going to be all about the surrounding environments and how it all comes together during live gameplay.

Controller based gameplay enhanced by Kinect. Cautiously optimistic, but not really sure what to expect here.

Wait now, hold on a minute. So if Sony who has been KNOWN known to bring CGI, target renders, teasers and loads of unplayable video montages to game conventions, you're going to hold them to the same standard right? And look at that list you're holding them to.
I never cared about those even when Sony did it, hell I didnt give a damn about PS3 back then since I went with 360 at launch and was perfectly happy with it and had it for years until PS3 got cheaper and I purchased it.
CGI for example is a good way of telling us what type of game it is if the gameplay and engine isnt ready to be showned off. Atleast we know what type of art, atmosphere, setting, perhaps genre it is for...I will get excited if its good enough, but I wont draw a final yay or nay until I see gameplay.

And yes the whole always online, paywall fee used games IS a big deal and they need to clarify it official at E3 what they are going to do about it, if anything.

Yeah noticed that too, i had written off this game, but i'll look out for details to see if this can be played with a controller only if you want.

Oh and Forza looks great as always, if it plays as brilliant as Forza 4 were in for a treat!, first gen games never really blow people away.

They haven't been silent, not really. They've been talking about it since the event. They also surely wouldn't allow a site to see the insides of the console if they planned on hiding things from people. That's how people confirmed the DDR3. They showed it to them.

But the key point here is so one console is stronger. It doesn't make the console with less impressive hardware incapable of having great games.
Well its not just stronger, it has 50% more CU's and 50% more teraflops on their GPU, not to mention a crap ton more bandwidth on the memory side, granted it all comes down to the games but when you think MS don't have many "worthwhile" 1st parties anymore it all leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

You can try to sugar coat it all you like but fact is MS has made mistakes all over the place and surprisingly so far Sony seem to have made very few.

A Thread is not quite like a Core. It's a simulated Core, but it won't offer the same performance as a true Core would. So a 3 Core processor with 6 Threads won't beat a 6 Core processor with no extra Threads.

Yup and what's more the architecture is a lot different, so even though the clock speed is lower the amount of calculations per second are going to be much higher.

Here is a good article on this subject;-

http://www.gamesbrief.com/2013/05/xbox-one-a-flawe...
Tactically, Microsoft needs to get an installed base fast. To do that, you need a product that solves a need. The problem the Xbox One solves best is a gaming one: “how can I play great games on my 42” screen?” The other problems it solves (“how do I control my television with my voice?”, “how do I stream television content through the same box I play my games on?”) are not problems that consumers know they have, so they are unlikely to rush out to spend several hundred dollars to solve them. The Xbox 360 was a games device first and foremost, yet more than half of the time spent on the console is now spent consuming other media. Score one for the Trojan Horse tactic. That’s why it seems so odd that Microsoft have abandoned the tactic so well in the last generation.

But the real problem with the Xbox One is about the strategy, not the tactics. Xbox One is a 1990s strategy

The Xbox One is the latest step in a strategy conceived in the 1990s. The ambition was to control the living room. That seemed like a laudable objective back when the world seemed likely to be heading towards bigger, more dominant, more impressive screens in every room of every house.

That’s not what’s happening any more.
Microsoft never have been interested in a leadership position in the console market. Once it became apparent they had derailed the Playstation freight-train enough operational focus shifted elsewhere, be that Zune (at the time), tablets or other stuff. Those left had a go at co-opting the Wii's disruption with Kinnect but didn't really have the resources to pull it off.

Having finally upgraded the Kinnect back up to what it was supposed to be in the first place it remains to be seen whether they've invested sufficiently in software to do anything interesting with all these sensors and their cloud computing platform. I am doubtful because if they did, they wouldn't waste five minutes showing the world Xbox One can do Skype.

Yes it seems that this new Kinect is what they intended back in the day. I was not impressed with this current Kinect. Lag, environment restrictions, etc. I've tried searching the marketplace with voice using kinect, and navigating the dashboard, or swapping in other players on Happy Action Theater. It was all beta hardware. Sorry that is all it was. Remember when Xbox LIVE arcade launched way back when on the original Xbox? That is what MS does, they roll out new tech, and don't even get it anywhere near right, until the next generation. I think kinect will be a lot better, not perfect, but more of what they intended.

I think the headset proprietary BS is BS. No headset pack in? Are you kidding me Joker? I'm getting an Xbox One, but I'm not excited about it so far. I had hoped for a bit more excitement after this reveal. E3, we'll see. At this point for anyone getting a console for the very first time, I'd recommend a PS4. I have too many friends, that are Xbox faithful, like myself, and I do like the usability of LIVE compared to PSN.

I do think MS needs to compete more with what PSN+ offers. Will be interesting what PSN and PSN+ offers on PS4, and what Sony announces in this arena at E3. They offer a lot of bang for the buck, but their functionality is still clunky and lacking. They bet big on HOME and it was a disaster. Their bet on GDDR5, was a big gamble and is paying off big time.

And Xbox One OS overhead... please, get out of town MS.

Sorry for the ramble.
