Inscrit depuis 7199 JoursIn Halo Reach, my favourite 2 things to do were driving the warthog, and chasing enemy warthogs with the grenade launcher.
Guess what, the only map that's virtually useful for the hog is Ragnarok.
But then, its way too easy to destroy it. Stupidly shooting at vehicles is way more effective than 1 or 2 well placed grenades...yaaaawn....
Not managed yet to get a wheelman-spree.
Oh yeah and they of course replaced my favorite weapon from Reach (grenade launcher) to replace it to the far more boring detonator.
I am a worse player than in previous Halos, because I still find myself using grenades out of habbit, which often is my death sentence, but thats not the problem. For me the gameplay itself in general is less fun :. (

Inscrit depuis 7455 Joursand redneck yes, i also still rely on grenades :( there shit as i say, there to much like uncharted grenades, even there arch of throwing is different than previous halo games you have to arch to high :(

Inscrit depuis 7357 JoursNever much cared for the grenade launcher in Reach so I can't say that I've missed it. I don't miss anything about Reach at all. I would attribute most of my success in Halo 4 from the amount of damage placed on headshots. Most of my shots and kills hit the head, so firefights are over fairly quickly for me. It is a shame that they seemed to have improved shooting only to butcher grenades.
As much as I'm enjoying it I can't predict how long I will play this. I have about a month and a half of XBL Gold left, and I don't see myself renewing it or purchasing the new maps. Who knows how many hours I'll rack up by then though.
Inscrit depuis 7455 Joursmy fave combo at minute is pro vision and bolt shot or rail gun, charge that fucker up as there coming round the corners.. perfect, every time. they need to fix it, OP to fuck for a starter weapon.

The Gauss Hog is OP.

Inscrit depuis 7511 JoursHow can you not know that?! That's even an important mechanic in single player Halo! Halo's unique damage model is one of the things that made it so special in the first place.
Inscrit depuis 7455 JoursI'm quite honestly shocked i never noticed this, just always assumed head shot damaged the shield more (and always questioned why the shield does not make it stronger near the head..)
I'm man enough to admit.. i never knew.. after playing Halo for 11 years... *holds head down in shame*

And Gauss hog has always been powerful since it definitely used to kill in one shot before.

Sniper was an instant impact weapon in Halo 3, while the BR wasn't. This means, that if you shot at a distant aim with the BR in Halo3, you had to aim just a little in front of where your aim was going at to actually hit. Sniper bullets 'teleported'. Pull the trigger, no delay.
I dont know about the DMR in Reach.
In Halo 4, I think that every human weapon is an instant impact weapon...

Inscrit depuis 7441 JoursHalo 4 is more arcade oriented in this way
Inscrit depuis 7384 JoursThere used to be a certain degree of skill required to snipe, now everybody (and I do mean EVERYBODY) can do it. My current #1 Loadout is DMR, Plasma Pistol, Plasma Grenades, Prothean Vision and alternate with support abilities. Mostly because I haven't found comfort with an all purpose support yet.
The good news is that my teams have now worked out a system where we share ordinance drops. One teammate might have a sniper weapon in his ordinance, another may have damage boost or an incinerator. By communicating, sharing and swapping what we have in our ordinance drops, we raised the effectiveness of our fighting ability substantially. The point spreads are now no less than 200 now. Communication goes a very long way, and when we're in the lobby and we see the other side has no mics on..............well...... let the butt hurt begin.
The Mantis is alot of fun if you can deal with being treated like the highest priority target on the field, alot of people don't get it though. You are ENEMY #1, everyone wants you dead. The Mantis has greater mobility than a tank, but it's height can be a vulnerability because it's so visible to lasers, snipers and people (like me) who enjoy harassing the driver into doing something stupid. Banshees are no longer to be feared, they aren't the agile air bombers they used to be, capable of winning a match in the game's first opening minutes. They have instead been reduced to low flying vehicles that crash into unsuspecting players. This nerf is really unnecessary when you have the types of weapons on the field (Lasers, Railguns, Incinerators, Multiple turrets, Tanks) that are capable of nailing a Banshee instantly.
Anyway I should be hitting SR-50 in a couple of days, hopefully open up a few more specializations.
Inscrit depuis 7199 JoursI like how you don't even mention the machine gun Warthog. Is it because they turned it into shit?
The ghost on the other hand is more efficient than in previous Halos.
But what sucks about it, is it beeing so quiet. You got shot to death but dont hear it at all!

I haven't spent too much time in the gunner seat, the driving from many players (including my teammates) has been uninspiring. The Warthog now requires a very good driver, in truth it always did. But since all vehicles are now visibly seen on radar and revealed with red approaching arrows that alert the field, skirting and controlled maneuvers are what's really necessary to avoid ambushes and give the gunner a little extra time to nail his opponents. Over all the mechanics haven't changed, everyone agrees that it sounds AWFUL, but the turret is still very very effective.

However you will never spend too much time on the turret, because its too easy to get shot of it by the DMR...
On the open field, your gunner is shot to bits in a few seconds.
In more narrow areas, people get away sprinting...
@Grift
I also was one of the guys who thought that perks and what not wont change the game too much...maaaaaan, how wrong I was.
But the bit that sucks most is the randomness added by ordonance you also mentioned.
I just wait for more classic stuff to be added...
Wasn't there supposed to be a classic playlist anyways?!

Inscrit depuis 7511 JoursI was playing with the light rifle a bit last night. It took some getting used to but it's pretty good. I think I'm going to go back to the DMR tonight though.
Out of all of the maps so far, the only two that are really sticking out are Adrift and Haven. Valhala is also great, but that almost doesn't count. Adrift has a very oldscool sort of feel to it. Works well with CTF too.
Oh.. and auto flag pickup/no dropping is really f'n annoying/stupid.
