I can't even imagine what they could do to swing opinion at this point. A good game or two isn't going to really do it.
Well games are going to HAVE to do it. Without games I don't have a reason to pick this thing up, it's just as if not more important than the controller. If the titles aren't there then gamers wake up to the realization of understanding that the Xbox One has entry level game hardware, and that the power of the "cloud" is nothing more than a licensing system that authenticates your ownership every 24 hours. Which doesn't bother me, but don't sell it to me as 40xpower when that's all it's really there for. Show me what it does or stop pitching. They can hype me if it's worth what they say, but don't take me for a fool.

This is the only selling point left for me, they have to wow me with some titles.

Oh I agree with that. I just don't know if a handful of games are enough to undo the other stuff, for me, at least.

There will be no shortage of great games to play with or without an Xbox One. And that's their problem. All of this other stuff is just pushing me away, and it's difficult to see an angle where they can demand my attention again.

I think they'll have some fine games even. Black Tusk's game could turn some heads. They'll talk about future Halo games (which some people still go a bit mad over). Forza looks great, as expected. Mirror's Edge 2 could be a thing. Titan Fall might be a soft exclusive, but that counts for a lot of people. But there's no shortage of alternatives really. Maybe exclusives aren't really enough for me anymore. I mean that for both camps. Sony has some interesting first party titles. They did this generation too. I lived without them and I don't really feel like I've missed much. Because I've had other great games to play. But you'll get that anywhere if you actually look for it.

I will buy the controller for my PC if it's compatible.

You underestimate people in general me thinks. Halo 5 announced, officially more xbones preordered than there are grains of sand in the world :P

Seriously though, my fear is the other way around. I'm afraid that they show a few cool games and all of a sudden all the other shit is just forgotten by the general public.

A hardware reveal without showing the product is a little bit daft on Sony's part but it's the least important facet in many ways. I actually quite like the design of the Xbox One whereas I've a profound hatred for playing any kind of FPS on a Dual-anything.

I think Microsoft's problem is they won't have enough great games over and above what will already be out there (which as Grift alludes is rather plentiful).

Prettier Forza, COD stealing Peter Molyneux's dog and a recording of what EA said about next gen last gen (it was the same rhetoric) is not news. A more shooty Alan Wake with a sub-par TV spin-off is not terribly exciting news as Alan Wake was what, three years late? Even Kinnect voice control and Skype isn't news! Now it's just not as shit as before.

Having decided to do a reveal and spend a bare minimum amount of time on actual games, the majority of what they did wheel out wasn't even their own stuff for the most part. What does that say about the games we're likely to see on Xbox One that Skype, (bloody Skype!) is more interesting.

It's a strategy driven by an irrational fear of a product from the fruit company that doesn't exist and a bunch of suits with spreadsheets going on about how much people use their 360 for non-gaming stuff completely ignorant to the fact that with just a few notable exceptions they've not done much more than iterate on existing franchises and let everybody else get on with it, with mixed results. Maybe that's why people opted for Netflix instead? No, it couldn't be.

We can probably guess at least half of tomorrow's line up already. We can guess the other half of that is going to be some Kinnect stuff. That doesn't leave a lot of room for error.

I can actually do with a box that functions as a PVR, plays Blu-Ray and Halo. As an existing fan of theirs I'm supposed to be the easy sell. How the hell are they winning the rest of us over I don't know but I don't think a run of sequels is going to cut it when we find out how much this monstrosity costs.

And I certainly don't expect any humility from Mattrick tomorrow when he bowls out on stage despite the fiasco of the last three weeks. That's a large part of Xbox's malaise right there if you ask me.

Not looking to bad, but it's still COD.

Really looking forward to seeing some Forza gameplay and more info/footage of Quantum Break, plus what ever else is shown, from EA I want to see Star wars and Dragonage 3, from sony more of Deep Down.

I don't think I'm underestimating people. If anything I'd be overestimating them. But I don't think I'm doing that either. I've already said time and again that I think the Xbox One will be a success despite itself.

Microsoft assumes that people care more about brand names than the talent that made the games they love. In some cases, they are absolutely correct.

So well put. If MS doesn't see the writing on the wall, and change course, and do something big, like partnering up with cable companies and making the consoles free or $99 with a 2 or 3 year LIVE commitment, crazy example I know.

If they can't win Xbox 360 fans, how can they expect to win the non-hardcore? If they come out more expensive than the PS4, then they have really deep sixed the Xbox One. And MS is just stupid and cocky enough not to see what is plainly in front of them. They might make some pretty looking games, but when the competition is hungry for a MS ass kicking, and Sony making offers like they are on PSN+ as of late, and have a better spec'd piece of hardware (and there is no denying that games will look better on PS4, this time around) and the next gen of PSN will at least surpass Xbox LIVE's current capabilities and be either free or when you consider PSN+ it will be a kick ass service...
Why am I an Xbox fan again? Lots of people on my Xbox friend list/clan are considering holding off on next gen consoles, jumping to PS4, just like the rest of you all here on this forum. Pull your head out of your ass MS... I'm just afraid I'm not going to see that happen at E3. Maybe before launch they might finally wake up. Who knows... we'll all know in a few hours.

Oh and I really like the design of the new hardware of the Xbox One, IMO, It think they did it up right. I think the controller is awesome looking too. The Xbox One fits right in with all the other equipment around my TV and thats a good thing. Xbox One as a name... sucks. Plain and simple.

I was speaking to a couple of people who have kids who play games/xbox ect and when I told them about the second hand stuff they said there is no way they would get one, I think MS are overestimating who will buy into a console (especially people with kids) who can't afford games when they aren't second hand.

I wonder how this will effect the casual gamer also.

Well, I'm not sure the super core guys fell over themselves to get a PS3, at least not for a long time. The console proposition is more questionable this decade than last, they have a bunch of other baggage to contend with as well as it just being expensive. It's unlikely to be $599 expensive because their memories aren't that short at least but I'm not so sure these things are going to fly off the shelves even with the strong brands in existing franchises. I can see it aping the PS3 and not even selling out at launch although a large part of that depends on today and the actual price.

It doesn't scream successful to me at the moment.
Posté par GriftGFX
So far as being an easy sell: Why would you be? They got rid of their best inhouse developer.
I'm an easy sell in theory because I'm invested personally much more in IP that Microsoft holds than Sony does. That is all things being equal, I'd by a Microsoft system over the latter purely on the back of things like Halo, even if that too might be on the wane.

In addition to that, I've an interest in the media functions to an extent. Right now to watch a Blu-Ray or movie on Netflix there is endless titting about either booting the PS3 up or coming out of one app and logging into another and my partner will laugh at me for the entire five minutes it takes. The seamless switching is cool as an added value thing. Plus the controller, I can't stand the Sony ones.

Bollocks as I think they are, the used game/always online thing won't even affect me in practice so it's moot.

But in spite of all that, where a new Xbox should be a slam-dunk in this household it still isn't. I will almost certainly wait for the first price cut before considering it even if they knock it out the park today and that's a huge turn around in form going by the previous few years.

Geoff Keighley says 20 games on stage so I'll have a stab;-

1. Halo 5
2. Crackdown 3
3. Fable
4. Ryse
5. COD Ghosts
6. Killer Instinct
7. LocoCycle
8. Black Tusk FPS
9. Forza 5
10. Quantum Break
11. Mirror's Edge 2
12. Titanfall
13. The Witcher 3
14. Kinnect Fitness
15. Kinnect Sports
16. Splinter Cell
17. Something on Kinnect for Kids
18. Gears something
19. Banjo 4
20. Beyond Good & Evil 2

Hopefully that list isn't bang on!

Also they said something about "exciting" news for the Xbox 360. Maybe they'll open up the platform for self-publishing in a more significant way. Anyway, that's my predictions.

Edit: Just realised there is no dancing game or EA sports which should be a given

You should stop caring about that. Microsoft is using that as leverage. And all they have in Halo anymore is a name. They let go their best developer. You can get their game on Playstation now.

It's just an attachment to brands at this point.

No legacy support. Few legacy developers. I'm not sure what's keeping the hangers on so hung up. We'll hear all about the games today. Games you can mostly play anywhere else.
bollocks as I think they are, the used game/always online thing won't even affect me in practice so it's moot.
It's not moot. Don't be like that. Just because you don't use or support a thing doesn't mean you should be okay with them just doing any-old-thing with it. If they pulled this in a different industry that didn't affect me, I'd still be bothered by it. You shouldn't be okay with consumer abuse just because you see a way around it personally.

You're just asking for it at that point.

You might as well stop calling it bollocks if you are going to support it anyway.

Agree supporting this stuff and saying it doesn't effect me is part of the big problem in my opinion at some point later down the line it will effect you and it will be too late by that point.

I really wont' be surprised to see console gaming taking a big hit this generation, MS and (possibly) Sony are hammering the nails in faster with all this bullshit.

If anything I see more people being pushed towards Wii-U so we may just as well have stayed in last/this gen in a sense.

I've been wanting new consoles for a long time now and now its about to happen I'm not so sure lol.

Uh.. The controller is a tad more important than the functionless shape of the console.

Did Microsoft showing the hardware somehow make the X1 more interesting? Probably not. Unless you have a betamax fetish.

But it was a stupid point as Microsoft is clearly holding some cards.

That is the biggest problem. They will throw a bone and people will fall over it. XO needs to bomb. I really hope XO fails miserably but it will probably not happen, sadly. Microsoft needs to go away. This guy in his mid 50's rant is probably the best I have seen:
