Oh My days....This just keeps getting better. So I cant play games on my Xbox One in a country where Live is not available..... mind numbingly dumb, stupid, ridiculous, screwed up, messed up, nonsense system...

No it isnt, if they cancel this nonsense, people's faith will be restored. I know I will. treat me like a king and you will have my money. They have a stellar line up of games (the majority of it quite unappealing to me at this stage, I only want 3 of their first pary line-up games so far) Howver, I know I will buy their console at some point when the games I want are there IF this DRM/2nd hand games nonsense is completely cancelled

If this true then who exactly are MS listening too with this DRM bullshit or is it something they did by themselves, 360 suffered big time from piracy and I wonder if this is MS's way of solving that, too bad it has pushed a lot of their user base over to the Sony camp.

This is only going to make hackers target their system more if you ask me.

it won't solve piracy though. if anything, it gives the hackers a place to start. they've already said they will have a system in place for military bases for soldiers, where the console will be able to play, without an online check. make the system THINK it has that "persmission", and you essentially have a system that can install any and all games without the need of a disc, and that has no way of being policed. sounds like a dream location for piracy.

Yeah, instead of saying "We haven't finalized anything" Microsoft is now saying "Buy a 360 and shut up" so I wouldn't expect anything from them at this point.

Cliffy... Says the guy who made the original Gears of War for $10mil. He used the most bloated game franchise ever as an example in Assassins Creed. Yes Ubi has a hundred developers working on the game, and no it doesn't even come close to being indicative of that in its quality. They could allocate those people to more under developed projects (Beyond Good & Evil 2 anyone?) but nah.

And that's where we come round to the biggest issues facing mainstream game development -- used games and rentals have absolutely bloody nothing to do with the fact that game development is possessed of such total excess that you can't even succeed with millions upon millions of sales under your belt. I utterly defy you to convince me Resident Evil 6 nearly selling six million copies yet still failing to meet expectations could be blamed upon the used game market. When you're selling that much, and still failing to make investors happy, something is fundamentally wrong with the process of videogame production itself, not the imaginary dragons of used games and game rentals that are conjured up as quick and easy scapegoats.
If anyone needs me I'll be slow clapping for the next seven hours.

And I will be joining you in that. This reminds of the time Square Enix complained that the recent Tomb Raider was failing to reach expectations when it had the biggest opening the franchise has ever had.

Yes, as graphics advanced, game production has become more expensive but for all time's sake so did the price of games so there are no excuses....

I will buy both consoles, but the XO first, because for me it had the better games to start with. Shame Quantum Break isn't scheduled for launch as this is the absolute system-seller for me.

I have no problem with the used games policy as an artist myself. "Always on" is no problem for me as well, since I am "always on" anyway while gaming. In the end I just care for the games. And I really like the idea of sharing a game with a friend, it's a nice approach - though accompanied by many wrong decisions, I understand for some people.

What's making me sad, is all the stuph I bought on XBLA is useless then ... MS should consider a compensation for the upgraders.

Funny though, I remember masses of people crying out loud when XBL went for gold 7 years ago and Playstation owners said they would never pay for online-mulitplayer - now they will and seem happy about it ... how quickly people forget.
