I find the hype behind KI from all the non-fighting-game-fans equally hilarious.
I think I already mentioned fighters are not my thing, but it will still make for a fair to good launch title anyway. Enough people asked for it over the years, so it's probably going to sell well.

What do you mean "you guys?" I thought Xbox One gamers would be the only ones online this generation.

I thought the rest of you hated the internet and don't intend to watch television anymore either. Isn't that right? ;)

It's just games, folks. People look at Killer Instinct and like what they see? There's nothing wrong or impure about that. People just want a game that looks cool and seems like it could be fun. They aren't super interested in garnering some pure fighter game fan credentials. In fact, I'd put down money there isn't a single person on this site that can compete with me in Marvel vs Capcom 2! (Yea, I said it :P)

Sometimes all people are looking for is a game that seems simple enough that multiple people can easily play with one another without too much hassle. Just simple get in and get out fun. Pick up and play, win a few games, talk a little bit of trash just for fun. That's all. Killer Instinct looks pretty cool, and strikes me as precisely the kind of game you get to make the younger kids feel like they're actually included and being trusted to play the console your always so cautious about them breaking.

Make em play one or two games of killer instinct, and they'll come away thinking they just finished playing the best game in the world, and then you can get down to some real gaming ;)

You guys didn't know that already? Azure isn't mandatory. EA will likely still use their own servers for all of their games (and matchmaking services).

EA would not even get on board XBL prior to forcing Microsoft to allow them to use their own matchmaking servers. I don't see that changing significantly. And for games like BF4? Probably not bothering with Azure.

Hmm ... so devs can use Microsoft Azure for free for dedicated servers by the look of this. I want to see what difference it makes.

Developers are GOING to use it. it's a no brainer. You've got the platform maker offering to handle all of the online infrastructure for you at no additional cost.

The same thing goes for digital distribution. EVERY game released for the X1 will be digital. The impact of that is going to be felt immediately. No need to go to midnight launches, no need to reserve copies at a local retailer or worry about reserving too late to ensure your copy is there. As a result of these conveniences (we PC gamers have had them for years) you're going to see less and less used games on the store shelves this generation. I predict in two years the pickings will be very slim to none at all at the local retailers, this will even include the big launch titles as well. You'll just walk into the store and see the used racks with next to nothing on them.

But I don't think it will effect gamers who like to wait awhile until they see a price drop or a GOTY edition. If anything digital plays right into their kitchen.

nice theory, but untill they stop charging upwards of a 50% markup on DIGITAL content, especially older titles, then people will always favour physical media. i mean, take a year old title like need for speed most wanted. it's £29.99 on PSN, £12-15 new in store, can be picked up for £5 if you go on ebay. who in their right mind is going to go digitial in that instance for the sake of "convenience"? i can pre-order a game for less, get it delievered to my door days prior to official release for free, and play it immediately. can i do that with digital content? right now, no. you're locked into official release dates, you're locked into extortionate prices, and you have to download massive files (granted, play while downloading features help this point)

what both parties need to do is really incentivise digital content. MS where going about it all wrong by devaluing their physical media. but they can both make the digital copy a hard thing to resist. 5 quid cheaper isn't going to work, becasue that £5 saving doesnt replace the ability to sell the game on or lend it to friends. it needs to be cheap enough to make the choice easy. atm it is easy...easy to avoid digital content. once that changes the transition to digital only will be a natural and gradual one. but based on this gen alone, i don't see that happening. not for a long ass time.

Many are, but many EA games likely won't. BF4 probably won't. That's just a single example, but it won't be the last.

Azure is awesome though. It could potentially give Xbox Live an edge over PSN in some instances.

If you want a digital copy of a game that will die with the platform in a few years, sure. Digital content on platforms with lifespans measured in years and not decades is silly. Everyone likes to mention iTunes, Steam, etc. in this discussion and they're missing a very important aspect of what those platforms offer that Microsoft never will: portability. You're not tied to a platform with a death sentence.

But hey, that's the future!. And ownership is "the dark ages!"

Pretty much this. On PC I'm sure my digital bought games will work with any future computer I end up buying, but on consoles is a different mater. We don't know if future console generations are still going to be using X86 platforms and allow backward compatibility. In fact, I predict and believe future consoles generation will be using some form of ARM architecture.

Crytek is always good in character modelling. But their animation not so good. Great facial expression there. This is the first Crytek game which is brown looking not typical Crytek game. I could have never guessed it. Just for curiosity sake, have they announced any Kinect 2 games or is it just voice and gesture recognition device for navigation. I was pretty sure this game was playable or supports Kinect.

Yeah they have not shown much Kinect games but may be it is good. Not sure they why can't they make it optional.

The only thing I like about XO is the dedicated servers thing. Many games use their own server but if they make it for all games then it is worth I guess extra 10$ that xbox gold cost than PSN + is worth it

Digital Sharing is back!
http://majornelson.com/2013/08/09/xbox-one-sharing-digital-games-and-gold/

Sharing Digital Games
Everyone in your home can share digital games with each other. Your Xbox One can become your virtual game library filled with digital games that different people in the home bought. Anyone can pick any digital game on your Xbox One, sign in with their own gamertag and play – even if the owner is not signed in. Like physical media, you can also play many digitally downloaded games without being online, although experiences will be best when connected to the internet and Xbox Live. Finally, when you purchase a digital game, you can start playing even before the entire game downloads.

Because your digital games go with you, you can also use and share digital games when you sign in to another console. And, if you happen to buy a digital game when you are signed in on your friend’s console, your game will also be available on your Home Xbox One console for anyone to use.

Sharing digital games is a great feature of Xbox One, and we’re also making it possible for Xbox Live Gold members to share some of the best benefits of Gold.

Sharing Xbox Live Gold benefits
At E3 this year, we briefly highlighted a new benefit we’re bringing to Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox One. We’re calling it Home Gold. It will enable any Xbox Live Gold member on Xbox One to extend many Gold features to others at no additional cost. One Xbox Live Gold account delivering great benefits to everyone in the home.

Here’s how Xbox Live Gold members can extend Gold benefits including multiplayer gaming, Game DVR, SmartMatch and access to entertainment apps and experiences, including The NFL on Xbox, Skype, Internet Explorer:
At home. You can set up your console at home so that anyone who uses that console will enjoy multiplayer gaming and access to entertainment apps – even if you are not home or logged in.
On the go. You can log in at a friend’s house and everyone there can enjoy multiplayer gaming and access to entertainment apps while you are logged in.
Now this was intriguing
At a Friend’s House with Xbox One
On Xbox One if you are an Xbox Live Gold member, you will be able to go to a friend’s house and play co-op multiplayer– even if your friend is not a Gold subscriber. Once you log in with your Xbox Live Gold account, everyone using that console can access multiplayer and entertainment apps for as long as you are logged in.

At Home with Xbox 360 and Xbox One
If you are an Xbox Live Gold member today, you are already set for Xbox One. Your Xbox Live Gold membership for Xbox 360 will seamlessly become an Xbox Live Gold account on your Xbox One and you will be able to enjoy Xbox Live Gold features on either console. You can even be logged in to Xbox 360 and Xbox One at the same time. Home Gold benefits are exclusively for Xbox One.
Cheers!
