Yeah I guess, but so was Crysis 3. Gamescom needs to come so Cry can show some real gameplay of this. And some other x1 games must be shown so its not only Ryse and Killer Instinct fapping in this thread.
I'm actually pretty interested in the game, but I agree. We need more info about EVERYTHING. We are only a few months from launch, and there is still waay too much smoke. Hopefully Gamescom will be more than a rehashed E3...

Some cool tipbits from the Major Nelson Xbox One podcast. I'm loving the sound of SmartMatch.

http://majornelson.com/cast/2013/08/02/mnr-486-mar...

About 20mins in.

SmartMatch and Live enhancements.

Indie Info getting detailed on GamesCom.

Developers have final devkits.

New mono graphics driver & GPU upclock -

"Since E3, an example is that we've dropped in what we internally call our mono driver. It's our graphics driver that really is 100 percent optimised for the Xbox One hardware. You start with the base [DirectX] driver, and then you take out all parts that don't look like Xbox One and you add in everything that really optimises that experience. Almost all of our content partners have really picked it up now, and I think it's made a really nice improvement."

"This is the time where we've gone from the theory of how the hardware works--what do we think the yield is going to look like, what is the thermal envelope, how do things come together--to really having them in our hands. That's the time where you start tweaking the knobs.

Either your theory was right dead on, or you were a little too conservative, or you were a little too aggressive. It's actually been really good news for us, and an example of that is we've tweaked up the clock speed on our GPU from 800mhz to 853mhz."

A 53Mhz overclock is a pretty tremendous feat. That will increase performance another 103 percent, past the extra 600% the cloud is offering.

IMPRESSED.

Ha ha.

It was done specifically to negate the 10% GPU loss that went to the system's OS. So in essence, developers now have 100% access to the GPU, and the new "mono driver" allows them to code to the metal. So this was hardly done to impress gamers.

Well anyone who thought Microsoft was done messing around with their controller needs to see this -

http://www.patentbolt.com/2013/06/xbox-patent-poin...

In the end we're probably going to get something that resembles the Wikipad. And if Microsoft ever decides to make it a transitional device that can go mobile, it would be able to access your 360/X1 libraries without the need for an additional platform.

Make this happen Microsoft.

Carmack: Xbox One subjected to 'witch hunt,' physical media days are numbered

"I think the witch hunt was a little bit unjustified there," Carmack said during the keynote address. "I personally am extremely fond of having all of my digital purchases in a curated garden. All of my iTunes, all of my Amazon stuff, all of my Steam things. And it's a positive thing."

Carmack should know better than anyone that until bandwidth gets to the point where customers can download 50gigs without issue we'll still have discs.

How many discs have you installed on your PC in the last like, forever? Discs are like print. They'll exist for a while after they're relevant.

That said, I totally disagree with Carmack. There's a big difference between opt-in, curated gardens, and walled-garden platforms. And really, I'm not sure it even addresses the issue at all. You already have all of your digital purchases in a curated garden on the Xbox 360 and PS3. I think that's vastly oversimplifying, and maybe simply misunderstanding the issue.

Now what Carmack did have to say that's totally correct and should definitely be in this thread: That Kinect is a high latency, zero button mouse. Perfect description.

That has nothing to do with console games or movies (another point I have 3TB of space on my PC). Both of which measure in at 20gig+ easy. The way many ISPs currently throttle or limit bandwidth that's like half a month or more for one purchase. When 4k starts becoming a thing it will only go up.

When we fix our bandwidth issue we can enter the future, not before.

What do you mean "you guys?" I thought Xbox One gamers would be the only ones online this generation.

I thought the rest of you hated the internet and don't intend to watch television anymore either. Isn't that right? ;)

I don't have cable. And I know a lot of other folks who don't have cable. But no, I'm one of the few people here who actually plays online games. There are others. But we're the minority here.

A lot of people here will talk up TitanFall and never play it. Or play it for a few hours and then it will sit on their shelves forever.

I find the hype behind KI from all the non-fighting-game-fans equally hilarious.
