Inscrit depuis 7450 JoursAnyway as it stands-
APU
1.7Ghz CPU [with 8 Jaguar Cores]
853Mhz GPU [1.31 TFlops]
32 MB ESRAM [pool of four 8GB]
8 GB DDR3 Memory
8 GB Flash memory
15 special purpose processors
4 Command processors (2 Compute, 2 Graphics)
SHAPE offloads >1 CPU core
Memory coherency between CPU cores and GPU [HSA/hUMA]
68 GB/sec peak bandwidth to off-chip 8GB DDR3 memory
204 GB/s peak bandwidth to 32MB of on-die storage
Kinect- has it's own SoC, so it doesn't tap the CPU at all
And then we have the rumor which cannot be corroborated until AMD lifts it's NDA later this month.
DPU
dGPU [8000 Sea Island Series] & [2.5D stacked solution]
2GBs of it's OWN Graphics Memory
What we know-
The NDA IS real, but when it's lifted it's anyone guess what Microsoft would actually have the freedom to discuss. It might just be about features and functions.
MS-AMD Deal for Custom Silicon solution is worth $3Billion to AMD.
MS and AMD have apparently done joint research on just such a fab process. But it was for a CPU, not a GPU, but you get the concept.
We have at least one AMD employee acknowledging work on an APU/dGPU while working on the XB1 project through a Linked resume.
As many sites have pointed out, such technology does actually exist and AMD does indeed either have plans or is already preparing to release APUs that do exactly what the rumor claims. But whether or not this is coming to the Xbox One is purely a speculative matter.
Here's what I think. I think that MS would be foolish to hide a dGPU when it's a clear hardware advantage that they would be standing on the roof screaming about after every single dig Sony makes at them. But if they are bound by an NDA that prohibits them from talking about unreleased AMD tech then those reasons are legal and inflexible. Interesting enough, AMD did something similar in 05, halting their product line to coincide with the release of the XB360. The circumstances were different though, those NDAs revolved graphic features, not whole fabrications.
Finally, I don't think anyone should believe it. There's no evidence save waiting for Sep29th to validate or disprove it. Even if Microsoft couldn't talk about the tech, they would have at least acknowledged the dGPU existence. Well I'm assuming that they would, I could be wrong. If it is false, it will probably be debunked by Microsoft sooner rather than later. They wouldn't want gamers waiting around hoping for something that's never going to materialize. They need to build momentum, not nurse people through their disappointment. If there's no truth to it, better to come out and debunk it now or the 29th becomes a showdown for dashed hopes.

Inscrit depuis 7450 JoursBut what I think is likely to happen is that unreleased AMD tech will finally be free to be discussed when the Sep 29th NDA is lifted. Could be GCN 2.0 features, which is very exciting because it would indicate that the X1 CUs are more advanced and performance capable. Maybe it's features that open the X1 to physics based rendering, that would be a KILLER feature and I'm noticing in those diagrams that is has alot of GPGPU capability for just that type of rendering. So we're likely to hear something that's cutting edge and news worthy.

I can't wait until these things are actually out and people can finally stop spewing speculation. And also to watch the additional meltdowns when certain things become reality. And when the general nature of reality just.. ya know.. sinks in.
