The last 7 days Xbox One was the number one pre-ordered item on amazon. Today I wanted to ckeck myself and it's number two since yesterday now.

Number one is PS4 now - in just two days. Interesting ... btw, both listed for EUR 599,- at the moment

Read somewhere that Kinect can be powered off completly?

You would be surprised how many people will buy the console for COD Ghost alone lol.

But for me it will boil down to one thing Games, seeing the first teasers for Mass Effect / Gears and FF Verses got me soooooo excited for last gen, i need to see something this gen that gets me just as pumped before i start spending my hard earned money on anything.

Absolutely.

Action, action RPGs, sci fi shooters...thats all I care for in games, now good or bad depends on each title.
Now I dont expect action hack and slash games from MS as I once did (Otogi, NG) but I am sure we will see a new sci fi shooter IP.

But for me to bother with Xbox I need atleast 3+ exclusive IPs that must wow me (personal preference obviously and I am not a big fan of sci fi shooters since i am picky about shooters). With PS4 they already nailed down 3 atleast, Killzone, God of War and Infamous (how Second Son turns out is yet to be seen).

That happened at shopto.net too. It was number 1 for a bit, but ps4 which had dropped out of the top 10 pre orders climbed back up to take over again. The reveal let people know what's what. Even the Wii-U jumped up the amazon chart after the xbone reveal.

As for Kinect. I don't get why it even needs to be plugged in for the console to function of you can turn the full thing off?? Call me paranoid. But I don't trust it.

Ascension did with its demo (watched youtube of retail, so bad), GoW3 was awesome.
I just hope they dont copy and paste again for God of War 4 (or reboot if it comes to that, even if it means they gonna use Kratos again).

The fuck? It's your fucking decision. If you don't like it, don't buy it, it's as simple as that. Sony is more than happy to sell you a product that does away with all that crap you don't like about MS. And if consumers in general really don't like what MS is doing the market will weed them out, that's what the market does. What the backlash after the reveal and the subsequent backpedaling has shown is that MS is worried some of their decisions might fire back at them, just like Win 8 UI debacle and the surface flop.

Now, I don't want to pretend I had much interest in the consoles prior to the announcements since I'll be building a new PC this summer. But the PS4 reveal genuinely surprised me. The shift to a console that is ready to be integrated into a community framework out of the box is very compelling. I can see why they made that decision considering YouTube and Twitch played a major role this generation. Whenever it pays off is left to be seen, especially considering we don't know what the costs will be, but I think it's much wiser than clutching straws of a dying TV consumer base (in 2012 cable subscriptions were in decline for the first time in cable history).

I think MS will ultimately pay the price. They are trying to compete for a market that is in a secular decline, still thinking their biggest competitor is Apple when Apple itself has already been dethroned by Samsung and Google and faces accelerated margin compression. Tablets are taking over the living room, not Apple TV. As the integration of functionality continues they'll make a lot of devices obsolete, especially a glorified set top box that is meant to be around for 5-6 years.
What I mean but forcing is obviously not literally. They are not giving user choices.

Making online play free to anyone who buys a console and dedicated server for premium users. Having an option to buy it without Kinect2. I mean it will add so much price. kinect itself these days is 100$ which is still too expensive so Kinect2 with HD resolution obviously will add more price to the console. Also what makes them think that people need it or even if they get it have to use it. There should not be any reason for it to be on. Do they really think people will spend all day or night in a couch with chips and mountain dew swapping between sports, tv and games with Kinect2. When did pressing a button become so complicated anyways.

Talking about giving options, proprietary HDD is not a good idea at all.

Which really isn't saying much.

Didn't play Lost Odyssey but Blue Dragon was abysmal. Story was shit, weak graphics and the entire game is just so goddamn early 90s that it's painful. I love my retro jrpgs but come on, you can't build an entire genre on snes nostalgia, cause that's what jRPGs are doing right now. Clinging on to an era where they had the monopoly on storytelling and other games didn't really compete.

Then again, i can't say they were especially disappointing as my expectations were incredibly low. So in that sense, it really delivered :P

Really think the jRPG is a dying genre. It just can't compete with the better experiences other games are delivering.

So...you don't think square put a shit ton of time and effort in to FF XIII? I think a lot of it is just bad, dated design and writing. Ni no kuni seems mainly to stand out because of the ghibli influence to me, but i only played the demo.
