1. In order to get the 4 skills the prince needs to traverse the land (elika powers) you need to back track A LOT....
2. Combat, 1 enemy at a time and no new combo's or weapons the entire game.. That sounds like it's gonna get old QUICK...
3. Difficulty; It's supposedly for a more casual audience. While this isn't a game breaker for me, I know I enjoy challenging games A LOT more than the "my blind granny can finish this" game
4. He mentions the platforming is also way too easy and describes it as "it's almost like auto play is on"
I mean come on didn't they learn anything from Assasin's Creed (I mean in term of free roaming environment and awesome climbing/navigating gameplay )
5. Still like I said earlier the prince who tries to be funny and the American Accent doesn't really help set the mood...
But even after saying all these things I still will check it out and see for myself...

But I am still not happy with the voice for the prince though, but its ok.
I hope they didnt pull a Assassins Creed were we cant skip cutscenes, that would be a pain.
*A New Form of Change*
What I have a harder time forgiving however is total lack of challenge. I am sick to my stomach of disappointment based on the words in reviews about this being, and I quote Kevin Van Ord at Gamespot; "really, really easy". I actually don't think I'll even bother with it now.
I'm gonna grab Banjo and Underworld instead.
*Majorly sad face*
Je bannis, tu es banni, il est banni...
One ring of death to rule them all.
According to most reviews, PoP is ludicrously easy.
EG review just came in. 6/10.

As we talked about; They should have left out the wise-ass Hollywood prince....
"Though I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil, for I am the evilest motherf*cker in the valley"
I hope we can adjust the audio in this game, like voice, cutscenes, music...etc.
I would turn off the voice if I decide to play a second playthrough, then I would be fine.
And, skippable cutscenes would be great.
With so many challenging games like NG and DMC, I need some relaxation and just have fun and enjoy the art, I guess POP is that game until Killzone 2 comes out :)
I actually like the "Elika" save when falling, better than having a black screen fading in, loading, and getting back to the checkpoint.
But whatever, I am gonna buy it today and hopefully atleast say its "decent fun".
*A New Form of Change*
I have healed a few grounds now, and its cool.
The game is fun, and visually beautiful, and the combat looks nice and scripted like.
The nice visual effect for the small touches like the gauntlet scratching on the wall while grabbing...etc.
The voice acting...even though I dont approve, its decent, atleast Ubi went with one of the best voice actors for a game which I respect.
The combat is easy and a bit difficault, but nothing frustuating.
The platforming itself...way too many.
Its like you press a button and everything else is automatic.
For example:
Jump, wallrun, grab a ring, wallrun, jump, grab a ring, jump twice up to reach a surface.
If it was the old POP it needs direction analog to do all the wallruns and jumping right, or else the prince would fall.
But now its more like...Jump forward, automatic wallrun, press O and grab a ring, automatic wallrun, press X for jump, and then automatic double jump up for reaching the surface.
The platforming is very auto with extremely little direction guide such as jumping from wallruns or jumping for a wallrun.
No challenge at all.
I mean I have done misstakes, died alot, and I have accepted the fact that Elika saves you everytime is now good, rather black screen fades in, "press to continue" and then you gotta a wait for loading to get back.
I wish the enemies would put up a fight, so far I have fought one of those Generals you see in the trailer alot, and a regular type soldier and a Alchemist, but non of them took up any fight.
The game is beautiful, and I chose the Limited Edition (very slick case if I may add) with the same price, with the goodies on top of it.
I have unlocked the Altair outfit, classic Farah and Prince (code within the LE) and thats it (I havent used any other skins yet, will do when I complete the game).
I dont know what the fourth one is though for the prince (including the regular skin).
Anyway, I havent completed the game and who knows maybe later on, the enmies will put up a fight like the bosses, but so far its easy, same goes to platforming...unless later on it requires a long chain of acrobatics.
But so far, its been "fun".
I didnt expect much, but having fun, and I am having fun.
But thats my impression so far anyways, same thought I had when I saw the trailers, with "fun" being added :)

How the hell did this game get 8s and 9s?
This game doesnt got much to offer but for its visuals.
You dont meet so many characters, its just prince, Elika and that guy with the beard (trying to avoid spoilers) that you care for.
There is no fighting at all, unless you set your foot in corruption setting, then thats even 1-2 fights, heal and thats it.
The story isnt even all that to be honest, its decent, but when its only about two characters (prince and Elika) its not much.
I mean collecting light seeds is a chore, but after you get the 4 main Elika platform powers which you get very early on, you dont need to collect anymore, unless you enjoy it and want a trophy/achievement for it.
And every platforming again, is scripted and automatic.
Press the jump button before the next thing you want to do like 1-2 seconds ahead and he still do it, just to say how gimped it is.
In the platforming, it should be timed, thats why its a challenge on that part.
You got to time the buttons and the animations to continue.
I am forcing myself to like it but I just can't see this as a keeper, rental is definitely, but not a purchase.
The music, well its on loop everytime you heal a place. The music only changes when there is a fight against a enemy or you set your foot between healing place and corrupted place, but then it goes to a new track, but the healing music is good, but when its on loop it gets boring quick.
I am a fan of Inon Zur's composing (Crysis, The Two Thrones...etc.) but Two Thrones has much better music to the POP feeling.
Not being able to skip cutscenes, fuck Ubi, its time to make it skippable dont you think?
Ini AC this pissed me off, and I would think they got smarter with POP, but nope, you can only pause it.
I mean the only thing this game got is its visuals and effects for example the gauntlet scratching against walls and such, it looks very cool and extra touches like dust and stones falling...etc.
If you think AC was repetitive, this tops it!
I actually prefer Assassins Creed, atleast I could be able to slaughter people whenever I wanted, draw my sword, fight anyone, go anywhere, took some skill to do the spiderman thing, but this is not.
Should be, Disney Production, published by UbiSoft Montreal...thats exactly what it is too.
I give the game 7/10.
Nice visuals, animations (excluding the combat, looked stiff), decent music (Two Thrones was much better).
The bad:
- Voice acting for the prince and his hollywodd wise-ass.
- No other weapons or moves for the PRINCE.
- Way to easy on both combat and platforming, looks like watching a video footage than me playing it.
- Terrible characters in this game, there is none, basically 3, plus 2 with the two Gods but they are just names and visions thats it. The bosses, you will hardly care for them at all.
- Empty environments for the most.
Thats all I got to say, a VERY good rental but as a purchase, well it depends if you are a hardcore POP fan or you got money to burn or just like it.
I still want to try out the classic prince and Altair skins, not a fan of the new one, except the cool looking gauntlet.
*A New Form of Change*
Call me a noob, a casual player and whatever you like but I like it and that's enough for me. :)
Je bannis, tu es banni, il est banni...
One ring of death to rule them all.
I can see where Sath is coming from though... I also enjoy games that have a higher difficulty Like Ninja Gaiden, Commandos etc. It just gives me a bigger sense of accomplishment. But I'm kind of weary of the game almost cheating to beat you (See the Call of Duty games, with their homing grenades and shit)
"Though I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil, for I am the evilest motherf*cker in the valley"
I know Disney didnt had a hand in development, but how the game is layed out with its extreme easyness and gimped platforming and combat from the previous POP titles, it FEELS like Disney did this and Ubisoft published it.
I mean its fun, dont get me wrong, but different people have different views of their money and their purchaes you know.
Sometimes I like the fact that just to put in such a good atmospheric game and have fun and not worrying about so much and just "cruise" around.
But I am very unsure if this is a keeper for me or not.
What is it there after I finish it?
Start over, collect lightseed and just do wallsruns and jumps and fight the enemies like I did previously to defeat them?
That type of stuff is what I am concered about.
Atleast the previous POP had various weapons and various ways to take out the enemies and bosses, variation, thats the key that this game doesnt have in the combat.
The platforming is so obvious you dont even have to stop and think, you can just see and do it and go where it flows.
As mentioned, previous POP made you think, look around alot before passing a path, very hard to figure out where to go what to do next, but here its way to obvious that it feels like I am speedrunning through the game.
PS. What FireWire said is right. The difficaulty in the game in general, combat and the platforming.
*A New Form of Change*
These impressions sure don't strike much confidence in this game. Guess I'll wait and see.. definitely not rushing out and picking it up among all these other great releases. It sure is pretty though.
As for the fact that the game is easy, then again, it just depends on what you expect from games. I'm not so sure I like the games where you have to play the same sequence over and over again. I've always hated the NG franchise for example. I'm not against challenge per se but I like an easy game once in a while, especially when it's well done.
Je bannis, tu es banni, il est banni...
One ring of death to rule them all.
Its not just that, its also that you dont have to time you jumps or grabs such as poles or rings, you can do that like 1-2 second ahead, even the double jump you dont need to point in any direction, he will do it for you, even though you DONT want to do that, you have tap the gauntlet button (sometimes it wont response with one hold) to slide down.
POPs platforming is mix bag of hard and very easy, but even the hard, you dont need to think fast or anything, every obvious movement to do is infront of your eyes.
But whatever, I am almost in the end of the game, lets see how I feel after finishing it, replayvluewise.
The only thing I wish they could have added would be multiple enemies, at random places, healed or corruped, would be great.
I would have forgiven the easy platforming in a second.
