Did you read your own link? That describes, exactly, an online pass. Even if they do opt in, it doesn't bully entire markets (like Gamefly/Redbox and the rental market) out of existence. It allows you to directly trade, borrow, etc. without the permission of the publisher (which is what is required on Xbox). In an unlimited fashion. It's not even a slightly as restricting, and it sure as hell isn't so convoluted. What's really ironic is citing hate for Gamestop in adding support for a system that would make them a virtual monopoly :D

Support that shit. But it's clearly much bigger bullshit than an online pass. The "Sony is doing it too!" argument is now bunk. The "it doesn't affect me so I don't care about anything else!" is a better, more genuine position. Stick with that one :)

No, they use the online pass as an existing example of what that COULD entail. It does not say it is limited to an online pass type of system. It specifically says that publishers "are free to add DRM to their PS4 games if they wish".

Sony will NOT let publishers put DRM on Single Player, they can't and Sony will not allow it, is exactly like the online pass we have now in some games.

Its #1 everywhere. The fact that either sells out isnt necessarily indicative of which is selling better, it means their inventory that microsoft/sony allotted to them to sell through is gone
I wasn't comparing rank in sales position, but if the inventory is gone then honestly rank becomes a moot point.

production capablities/supply chains between msft/sony are huge this holiday season. They gotta build up enough inventory to be able to sell as many boxes as possible before christmas rolls around. A head start is always coming out of the first holiday season is always nice

Just remember, this is the time when scalpers operate, they will be buying as many consoles as they can so them selling out isnt surprising. Its when a week after launch ebay is flooded with them or not is when you can see how popular it really is.

It's possible. Have you seen the size of the X1's SoC? It's enormous, they shoved EVERYTHING on the die. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they have low yields given a chip that size.

I'd still like to get some info on it. Microsoft's arch panel made mention of partially resident textures (means the X1 can do ultra-high resolution textures), hardware upscaling (they weren't totally clear on that), optimized memory caches, special silicone from AMD (at a cost of $3 Billion over the next 36 months). I'd really like to read into all of that stuff.

For all this talk of Xbox Ones strong lineup, most of it is 2014. There was a lot of talk about investment in games studios, they've done the bare minimum the last two years and yet their launch titles are Forza, KI and?...

If you're getting an Xbox One at launch, what game for exactly?

I've no interest in Killlzone either to be honest so the same applies to the PS4 to an extent. I remember getting Perfect Dark Zero when the 360 launched and the PS2 was famously sketchy for launch titles but I still can't see huge numbers of people falling over themselves to get one this year.

The price and other baggage towers over a decent E3 showing for me.
