Unless I turn it towards the wall in which case it can stare at the wall all it wants...It'll still be able to hear me though grrr..

i'd hope you can mute it at the VERY least. last thing i want is the game picking up my convosations when i'm playing BF4 when i didn't want talk online.

Lol is funny all the people here saying this changes it is taking us to the past. When people gonna understand that to have family sharing and all that stuff Microsoft didn't need to implement all this draconian policies. It is really simple, just don't treat physical copies as digital copies and give people choice. How? simple, make all digital release work with family sharing all that stuff, and give people the choice when installing the physical copy if they want to be treat it as a digital copy taking the rights to resell it but be able to share, or treat it as a physical copy and not been able to. It is really this simple.

I get mesmerize how many people here on Gamersyde prefer to get their consumer rights taking away so easily thinking this was forward thinking. Well let me tell you this was not. Alienating a big chunk of your market with this region lock, taking your ownership rights, and not be able to play offline wasn't forward thinking I'm sorry. This was just a way to have more control and thus make more money.

Don't worry all those benefits the DRM draconian system have before are still possible on this system, and Microsoft say the sharing system will be available later.

You have to be happy that now more people will be able to play the Xbone that wasn't possible before with the online checks and the region locks (including myself).

i don't think you can. otherwise why would it be mandatory in the first place? also, didn't they say if you want to turn off kinect, just turn the console off at the plug...(like that's a solution lol) seeing as they've changed their policies, maybe they changed that too?

But dropping this this and that, what you get is the same as before, but faster better graphics.
Yes! This is what I want! A faster horse but at a reasonable $399 pricepoint. So ditch that Kinect which I either won't use at all or will do so begrudgingly when I have to, and lower the price. I get that in order for Kinect to become implemented well, games need to be made that use it, consumers need to give feedback, and devs need to refine it. I just don't want to pay an extra $100 to be a product tester.

Also, I like how saying someone is a "backward/stagnant thinker" is like the new "hivemind"(which was always a stupid insult anyways....because even if you thoughtfully considered something, you got lumped in with the "hive" just because you happened to agree).

Yes, it is unfortunate that the family sharing is potentially gone(doesn't have to be nor should it be for digital copies), but that's really the only negative as far as I am personally concerned.
Full Game Library Travel...........gone I can do this already...

-Family&Friends Sharing.............goneAgain, should still work for digital copies, and I can still lend my discs out

-Digital Gifting and Selling...........goneDoesn't need to be

-One Time Register To Play Your Games From Anywhere...........gone (now you have to carry the fuckin disc with you for validation)Taking my disc with me is easy. Super easy.

-Continuous Updates From Developers...............Not completely gone, but gimped because of no online req.What kinds of updates? Were we looking at realtime game updates that didn't require a restart of the game? I don't see how this affects people who are connected anyways

I would say Jack mocking XO at E3 and all the reaction for PS4 since then forced them to do it. Had Sony not done what they did. Nothing would have changed on XO. I can't believe with all this BS someone in Microsoft thought they would get away with it knowing the fact that Sony would not have such restriction.

Supposedly from the blog of a MS employee:
When your family member accesses any of your games, they’re placed into a special demo mode. This demo mode in most cases would be the full game with a 15-45 minute timer and in some cases an hour. This allowed the person to play the game, get familiar with it then make a purchase if they wanted to.
Was this mentioned previously? The impression I had of family sharing was that it didn't have a time restriction.

I guess that would have explained why they would needed to have internet every hour for Family, but 24hrs for the Owner. First I'm hearing of this. What they're doing is what Sony is doing with the PS4/Gaikai in that every game already has a time restricted demo of the full game.

Now I'm not sure of the validity of the blog post as I read it second hand, but I sincerely hope this is NOT what they had in mind for the family sharing. The point is rather moot now, but rolling that feature out as outlined in the above post would have been crippling.

Exactly, in my case they can shuv the digital content wherever they want to, it does not interest me.
