I'm sorry, but I don't buy it. You would still get a PS4, even if Sony announced the same thing. You once said, I believe, that Kinect required was a no buy from you (correct me if I'm wrong, will gladly admit to being wrong), but since Sony is making it seem like they are also going to include a camera that may be similar to Kinect, you immediately accepted it with zero issue or controversy. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't exactly judge you negatively for this, but you have a favorite. And I'm not going to lie or bs you, my favorite console this gen and my most heavily played was my 360. There are reasons that you are more interested in a PS4 than you are a new Xbox. It's largely informed by how much you enjoyed what Sony had to offer this generation from the PS3. My excitement for the next Xbox is largely informed by how much I enjoyed what the Xbox 360 had to offer this gen. If my favorite console this gen was the 360, I'm naturally more interested or excited about what the next one may bring, but no more than that. And that's the way it should be. It's why heading into the 360 and PS3, I was far more interested in the PS3 because of my experience with the PS2 and because I didn't have the first xbox. What got me to commit to buying the 360 was the announcement of Sakaguchi's first party jrpgs, and the GTA announcement I thought stole major value away from my previous Playstation leanings.

I have not seen information yet from either the PS4 or the next Xbox that somehow makes me legitimately consider not buying either one. I just don't think I've seen confirmation of information that terrible. What would be that kind of terrible info? Required to be a Gold subscriber. There may be things I don't like the sound of, or that give me concerns, but there are reasons that I must have a ps4, and there are reasons that I must have the new xbox. Hell, there are reasons I must have the Wii-U, eventually. I have my favorites, unquestionably, but maybe I approach news to these consoles differently because I fully intend on owning both. But for maybe someone looking for that one machine, I can sorta understand how they might react positively or negatively to certain things as they are justifying which product they end up buying, and we all do this on some level, whether we realize it or not. If we're actively reading up on a product, we must also usually be looking at some options, and once we have a favorite that we are leaning towards and if getting both isn't an option, we find ways to justify that choice that we've made. So, not meant as a personal attack, and apologies if you see it that way, but I believe that you are excited enough and hopeful enough about the PS4 that something like online required or no used games could never get you to not buy it. Barring the possibility that Microsoft makes the most powerful console we could ever imagine, stunning us all, while also releasing it at a killer price in addition to securing some game deal or partnership that somehow makes the PS4 look far less attractive, I don't see that happening. In other words, Microsoft would somehow have to diminish the value of sole Playstation 4 ownership, the way I thought they did to me pretty effectively with regards to sole PS3 ownership.

I came into this gen believing 100% that I would not need nor eventually buy a new Xbox, and then the Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey announcements happened. And if I was having doubts about making such an impulse decision based on 2 games that weren't even available at launch, the GTA4 announcement for 360 erased those doubts. I was barely, if at all, attracted to the current gen by existing first party franchises, as I was mostly one of those gamers that bought the big third party releases, which for the PS2, happened to largely be defacto exclusives. I only have my PS3 for the exclusives that didn't or won't come to the 360, one of which is MGS4. Going into the PS4 and next Xbox, however, I now legitimately have first party franchises that I feel are must haves.
