Inscrit depuis 6464 JoursThat's the opinion of Cowen & Company's Doug Creutz, who said that both companies have a lot to prove at the annual games show, as they continue to feel the pressure with increased competition from mobile and PC gaming.
"For Sony, the challenge is how to differentiate the PS4 from what Microsoft is offering, given how badly the PS3 has lagged the 360 in Western markets"
It's expected that Microsoft and Sony will charge consumers who buy games second hand to access the content, ensuring the hardware manufacturers and the publishers receive a cut of used games sales.
However, Microsoft's message has been mixed, while Sony has stayed relatively quiet on the subject. While consumers and the press have pushed Microsoft, and to a lesser degree Sony, to lay out their plans, both have been reluctant, leaving many to assume costs to activate second hand games will be high.
GamesIndustry International has been told by Microsoft that it will not be offering press any time with senior executives to discuss the Xbox One business during E3, suggesting it wants to focus purely on games experiences.
"We doubt either Microsoft or Sony will address pricing for current- or next-gen consoles at E3, though we do think there is a chance that Nintendo could announce a (badly needed, in our opinion) price cut for the Wii U in an attempt to steal some thunder," Creutz told investors.
"We also don't expect to hear any official word on what the used-game policy will be on next-gen consoles."

- Xbox 360 version developed by someone else
- Planned to target current gen, but realized that they couldn't run it
- Started to look into next gen and the answer they got from Microsoft intrigued them
- They said they needed to focus on fewer hardware. In the future they are open to more. They don't specify if it would be this project or another.
- Plan to use Microsoft's Cloud for dedicated servers and physics and AI calculations
- Spring 2014 Release Date
- In my opinion it visually looks pretty nice.
- First person shooter
- "Mech" and ground combat
- "Mech's" are called Titans.
- They want these Titans to feel fast. They can dodge etc.
- If you don't want to pilot the Titan you can have it follow you, killing people as it goes along.
- Player characters are called Pilots
- They are extremely agile. Can run on walls, multiple jumps.
- They can take down Titans. Jumping on them and shooting the "brain".
- You need to be cunning as a pilot. "Hit and fade" tactics is the term the game director uses.
- Pilots come equipped with a variety of weapons. Pistol, Assault Rifle, Anti-Titan Rocket Launcher, data knife used to hack AI characters into joining you.
- There are AI enemies on the maps.
- You survive longer than in COD. Making it more welcoming to newcomers.
- Source Engine. Building new engine = too much time.
- Source gives them 60 fps
- Rewrote aspects of it for next gen
- Article talks about the process of forming the team, being fired, prototyping ideas etc. I recommend reading it.
- Going for a District 9 or Blade Runner vibe.
- Integrate memorable single player moments into a multiplayer game.
- Storytelling style will be more Left 4 Dead.
- Humans segregated between Earth and frontier planets. Corporation trying to take the resources of these frontier people.

"Planned to target current gen, but realized that they couldn't run it" - so they outsourced it to a team who could? huh?
the thing about the cloud. does that mean if you went offline the AI would just turn retarded? and physics wouldn't work? or is it a game you HAVE to be online to play?
interested to see what it looks like though.

But, its a FPS and I am getting very quite sick of them these days. But ah well, I doubt this game will stay only on Xbox, probably show up on PS4 later on.

Still a massive title for MS and sure to move some units.

Inscrit depuis 7444 JoursI know i was like this during Dark Sector days but that was like years ago and i stopped getting my hopes up for nothing now.
Sure art looks nice, reminds me of the artwork designer Marek Okon (google image his name, some fantastic art).

Inscrit depuis 7578 JoursI'm already pretty disappointed by the format. All the previous rumors were dead-on. It sounds like a pretty cheap title. And it has AI enemies. Meh.
Inscrit depuis 7444 JoursAlso do you mean Source as in Source engine like Half Life and CS?

I'm intrigued but turned off by the AI elements already. I like that they're trying something new though, so I'll definitely check it out.
Inscrit depuis 7444 JoursThough the character concepts sounds interesting atleast.
For example i like how Warframe looks like but how it plays like its decent at best, same goes to Dark Sector, only that throwing weapon and the limb cutting gore was good the rest was bad.
But yeah those days were i go hyper without seeing enough raw gameplay footage is long gone lol

Inscrit depuis 7578 JoursAnd Darkness 2 came out like four years after Dark Sector so I don't think that's the reason.
Inscrit depuis 7444 JoursI have never cared who makes what game, as long as I see who makes what and how it looks and plays (already said why I like and dislike about Dark Sector), those years i wasent so knowledgeable interms of gaming devs...etc. and I was easily carried away...like Ubisoft and Assassins Creed 1.
Now, I am always show me alot of pure gameplay before I care, trailers do little but I still welcome them since they show what type of game it is.
But its all good.
Inscrit depuis 7578 JoursPrior to Dark Sector, Digital Extremes was mostly a team that picked up small jobs for Epic. Their big stand-alone project prior to releasing Dark Sector was the (awful) FPS Pariah. There's a big difference between putting your faith in Dark Sector because of an average-at-best track record, and having confidence in established developers. Not that I think Respawn can inspire a ton of confidence yet either. They have to re-establish their brand first.
Also: can we make fun of this game for being an "exclusive" that I don't need to own an Xbox to play yet? :D
