Why?
Because Gears has always been at the bleeding edge of graphics in games, and I just assumed that would carry on with this one. There are some nice looking environments, but overall the texture work really makes this game look outdated.

thought imgur was adding all sorts of compression to the images when i saw the sea of theieves pics. but forza looks fine so i'm guessing bad captures or not native 4k? and i don't know what that first person shooter is, but my god it looks ugly. lol. i mean, regardless of resolution, which looks fine, that is one rough looking game. what is it?

Of course not, but a screen doesn't suffer from bad YT compression. A direct download video of Forza 7 in comparison with the YT counterpart is like night and day. I am very happy Microsoft upped the image quality with the X.

theres more than just IQ at play when it comes to the differences seen between crackdown gameplay and that crackdown screenshot. not to mentioned you're bitching about youtube compression while posting a screenshot that's sub 720p lol. the IQ looks worse than any youtube video in 1080p ever could.

All I was saying that the screen looks better than the vids. This game still doesn't look good or great, just okay at the moment, and I guess that won't change to drastically.

But if it's playing like Crackdown 1, I'm in (had a lot of fun back in the day). If it's like the sequel, then not so much...

right now my worry is that is exactly ALL it is. which wouldn't put it in a better position than the sequel. i mean, i loved crackdown 1, it was fun, addictive and controlled great...it's also 10 years old and a shit tonne has happened to the open world action genre since then. crackdown 2 was shit because it didn't change things up enough, and I've not seen anything to indicate crackdown 3 has done so either. i want crackdown, but 10 years later i want an evolved version of it. not just the same exact thing with a few new weapons. i mean, the climbing looks just as clunky as it did in the first game, you'd have thought things would have improved a bit.

it just reeks of a low budget, small team title being made to live up to AAA expectations. this should have been a big deal for MS, but it doesn't look like they care.

Actually it is two teams, Sumo Digital is helping as well (I guess for the driving stuff). But that makes it even worse... it's very long in development and still looks very average AND bringing on a celebrity to boost it's affection is usually not a good sign.

all they need now is to stick some shitty beta access to halo 6 on it and we'll know for sure they have no faith in the title.

Considering it comes out this fall, and halo 6 hasn't even been announced.. I'd say that is unlikely :D

Crackdown 1 wasn't known for great graphics either, so I guess in that sense this looks right on track.

i'm going to take a guess and say this is just some promotional "screenshot". i mean, look at the placement of the agility orbs. they're just random. they're usually on hard to reach areas, not just littered all over easily accessible flat rooftops. lol

not to mentioned the discrepancy between what they're actually showing off at trade shows and places like SDCC looks absolutely NOTHING like that.

They know how important first party is and totally care. They're just not good at it.
